Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "You've got a glass-jawed toothache of a mental disease" (I)

Answer: "Garden of Eden"

This is the beginning line of the song. Axl sings this song so fast that the video for the song has the words streaming across the bottom of the screen like stock prices. "This fire is burnin' and it's outta control. It's not a problem you can stop, It's Rock and Roll!"
2. "You've gone sketchin' too many times, why don'tcha give it a rest?"(2)

Answer: You Could Be Mine

This song was written by Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin'. It begins with a punchy drum lick from Matt Sorum. It has a bridge in it that goes:
"You've been breaking down my back and I've been rackin' out my brain.
It don't matter how we make it, 'cause it always ends the same.
You can push it for more mileage but your flaps are wearin' thin and I can't sleep on it 'til morning 'cause this nightmare never ends.
Don't forget to call my lawyers with ridiculous demands, and you can take this pity so far but it's more than I can stand. 'Cause this couchtrip's gettin older, tell me how long has it been, 'cause five years is forever and you haven't grown up yet". Say that in one breath if you can!
3. "Just like children hidin' in a closet, can't tell what's goin' on outside"(2)

Answer: "Breakdown"

The first part of this great song has acoustic guitar, piano, banjo, and whistling. It's a great testament to how more experimental "UYI" was compared to "Appetite for Destruction". I once wrote a review of the CD's for a Composition I paper in college, in which I described the guitar solo as a "rubber ball in a wind tunnel", because Slash was backed up by Axl's trademark howling. I got an A on that paper.
4. "I got a headache like a mother twice the price of my thrills". (1)

Answer: "Bad Apples"

Here's a catchy bit that made me chuckle: "I said your laundry could use washing we'll hang it up all over town. I said Hollywood's like a dryer an we're down on Sunset Strip an you'll be suckin' down the Clorox 'til your life's all nice and crisp". Very morbid metaphor indeed.
5. "When I'm havin' fun you know I can't conceal it 'cause I know you'd never cut it in my game". (2)

Answer: "Get In The Ring"

"And in this corner, weighing in at 850 pounds, Guns and Roses" This slamming anthem was an "In Your Face" to the music press, who had printed some alleged bad ink about the band.
6. "But times are hard and thrills are cheaper as your arms get shorter your pockets get deeper". (1)

Answer: "Right Next Door To Hell"

Did you catch it? So far all of the choices have been tunes from UYI 1 or 2. I slipped this one in to see if you were still alert. "My Michelle" is actually from "Appetite for Destruction".
7. "Your days been numbered and I've read your last page". (1)

Answer: "You Ain't The First"

This tune is little bit slower than "typical GnR fare". It sounds like a campfire sing-along, featuring Izzy on lead vocals backed by Axl and the late Shannon Hoon of Blind Melon.
8. "I bought me an illusion and I put in on the wall". (2)

Answer: "Locomotive"

The band was scheduled to have Jeff Beck come onstage and do this song in a three guitar jam with Slash and Gilby Clarke for a Pay-Per-View concert from Paris, France in 1995. But Beck couldn't make it, so they scrapped the song from the set. That would have been incredible to see.
9. "Your cat scan shows disfiguration I wanna laugh myself to death".(2)

Answer: "My World"

This little ditty was a strange experiment for Axl and Johann Langlie, who helped him with programming on this tune. It's got kind of a Nine Inch Nails vibe to it.
10. "Your power hungry sellin' soldiers in a human grocery store. Ain't that fresh?"

Answer: Civil War

The first track on UYI 2 commences with an audio clip from the classic Western movie "Cool Hand Luke". (Strother Martin's speech, "What we've got here is....failure to communicate.")
