Guns N' Roses members from 1985-2026 are as follows:
Axl Rose is the founder and only constant member of Guns N' Roses. Born William Bruce Rose Jr. in Indiana, he adopted the name Axl early in his career. He's known for his powerful vocal range and unpredictable stage presence, often turning up hours late for shows.
Slash was born Saul Hudson in Hampstead, London, and moved to Los Angeles as a child. His top hat and curly hair covering his face became as recognisable as his guitar playing. He left Guns N' Roses in 1996 and rejoined the classic lineup in 2016.
Duff McKagan is the band's bassist and was part of the original lineup. He grew up in Seattle and played in several punk bands before joining Guns N' Roses. Like Slash, he left in the mid-1990s and returned for the reunion in 2016.
Izzy Stradlin was the rhythm guitarist in the original lineup and co-wrote many of the band's best-known songs. He left in 1991, citing the chaos surrounding the band at the time. He has made occasional guest appearances with them since then.
Steven Adler was the original drummer and played on 'Appetite for Destruction'. He was fired in 1990 due to his struggles with drug addiction. He later appeared on the reality television show 'Celebrity Rehab' and has spoken openly about his difficulties over the years.
Matt Sorum replaced Steven Adler on drums in 1990 and played on the 'Use Your Illusion' albums. He was also a member of Velvet Revolver alongside Slash and Duff McKagan after leaving Guns N' Roses. He was dismissed from the band in 1997.
Dizzy Reed joined as a keyboardist in 1990 and is one of the longest-serving members of the band. He has remained with Guns N' Roses through all lineup changes and is part of the current touring lineup. He also played with Axl Rose during the years when Slash and Duff were not in the band.
Gilby Clarke replaced Izzy Stradlin as rhythm guitarist in 1991. He recorded one album with them, 'The Spaghetti Incident?', and remained a member until the mid-1990s. He has since had a solo career and has worked as a producer.
Robin Finck is a guitarist who has had two spells with Guns N' Roses, first in the late 1990s and again from 2000 onwards. He is also known for his work with Nine Inch Nails. He played on the long-awaited album 'Chinese Democracy', released in 2008.
Buckethead is the stage name of Brian Carroll, a guitarist known for wearing a KFC bucket on his head and a white mask on his face. He joined Guns N' Roses in 2000 and contributed to 'Chinese Democracy' before leaving in 2004. He is considered one of the most technically gifted guitarists in rock music.
Richard Fortus joined as rhythm guitarist in 2002 and has been part of the band ever since. He previously played with The Psychedelic Furs and other acts. He's part of the current lineup alongside Axl, Slash and Duff.
Frank Ferrer became the band's drummer in 2006 and remained in the role until 2025. He played with several other acts before joining Guns N' Roses. He was part of the Not in This Lifetime reunion tour and remains the band's longest-serving drummer.
DJ Ashba was the lead guitarist from 2009 to 2015, during the period when Slash was not in the band. He is also known as a co-founder of the band Sixx:A.M. He left Guns N' Roses before the reunion of the classic lineup.
Melissa Reese joined as a keyboardist and backing vocalist in 2016, making her the first female member of Guns N' Roses. She plays keyboards, synthesisers and provides additional vocals on tour. She remains part of the band's touring lineup.
Chris Pitman was a keyboardist and multi-instrumentalist who played with the band from 1998 to 2014. He played on the album 'Chinese Democracy', released in 2008. He left before the reunion of the classic lineup.
Sebastian Bach, Rachel Bolan, Dave Sabo, Scotti Hill, Rob Affuso, Johnny Solinger, and ZP Theart have all been members of Skid Row.
