Heavy metal band Iron Maiden was formed in England in 1975. From 1980 to 2015, they released sixteen albums are known for songs like "Fear of the Dark" and their mascot, Eddie which appears on all Iron Maiden album covers and merchandise.

Iron Butterfly is an American hard rock band formed in 1966. They are best known for their 1968 hit "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida". They disbanded three times in their history and have had a staggering sixty-four different members.

Soul Asylum formed in Minnesota in 1981. Best known for their 1992 hit "Runaway Train" for which they won a Grammy Award for 'Best Rock Song' in 1994. Eleven albums were released by the band up until 2016, with "Grave Dancers Union"(1992) being their most successful, certified multi platinum.

Collective Soul formed in Georgia, U.S. in 1992. Nine albums were released between 1993 and 2015. Their 1995 eponymous album provided them with an amazing five hit singles, with "December", "The World I Know" and Where The River Flows" all hitting number one on various charts.

Queens of the Stone Age was formed by Josh Homme in 1996. Six albums were recorded, from their eponymous album in 1998 to their 2012 hit album "...Like Clockwork". "...Like Clockwork" reached top position on ten world charts, including the US Billboard 200 chart. They were nominated six times for Grammy Awards from 2003 through 2014, but did not win.

Queensr˙che was formed in 1982 in Washington, U.S. With fifteen albums to their name, recorded from 1984 to 2015, the 1994 album "Promised Land" garnered them five MTV Video Music Awards nominations for the hit single "Silent Lucidity" of which they won one for 'Viewers Choice Award'. "Silent Lucidity" was nominated for two Grammy Awards as well, but did not win.

Talking Heads was formed in New York City in 1975. They recorded eight albums between 1977 and 1988 and officially disbanded in 1991. The band is best known for their hits "Burning Down the House", "Psycho Killer" and "Once in a Lifetime". Drummer Chris Frantz and bassist Tine Weymouth continued recording with their side project Tom Tom Club.

Modern Talking were a German pop duo formed in 1983 made up of Thomas Anders and Dieter Bohlen. Some of their best known songs are "You're My Heart, You're My Soul", "Cheri, Cheri Lady", "Brother Louie", "Atlantis Is Calling (S.O.S. for Love)" and "Geronimo's Cadillac" every single one a number one hit throughout Europe.

Supertramp, formerly known as Daddy, are a rock band formed in England in 1969. Eleven albums were recorded by the band from 1970 to 2002, "Breakfast in America" being one of their more popular albums. They won two Grammy awards in 1980, but neither of them were for the actual songs or singing of the songs. Supergrass were also an English rock band, formed in 1993. Their best known hit was a song called "Alright" which was released from their 1995 album "I Should Coco". King of Leon is made up of three brothers and a cousin and was formed in Nashville in 1999. Well known for the hit singles "Sex on Fire", "Use Somebody" and "Notion", the band has been very successful on album charts too. All seven their albums recorded from 2003 to 2016 were top five hits on either the UK or US charts with "Because of the Times", "Come Around Sundown", "Mechanical Bull" and "Walls" all reaching top position on the album charts.

Gipsy Kings was formed in 1978 in France, by children of Catalonia gypsies who fled during the Spanish Civil War. Despite being a flamenco/salsa/pop band singing predominantly in Spanish, they have achieved world success. Their 1989 hit "Volare", went to number one on the US Hot Latin Songs chart. The band has also been nominated for multiple Grammy Awards and won their first one in 2013 for 'Best World Music Album'.

Stone the Crows were formed in Scotland in 1969. A blues-rock band, they recorded four studio albums from 1970-1972, their debut and second album being released in the same year. Their third album "Teenage Licks"(1971) would prove to be their most successful, but the onstage electrocution and death of lead guitarist Leslie Harvey proved to be the turning point from which the band never recovered.

Counting Crows was formed in 1991 in California, USA. Their debut album "August and Everything After"(1993), containing the wildly popular song "Mr. Jones" did very well on the charts, reaching a second position on the US Heatseeker chart. "Mr. Jones" reached second place on the US Billboard Modern Rock Tracks, US Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks and US Billboard Top 40 Mainstream charts. The song "Accidentally In Love" received an Academy Award nomination in 2004 after being included on the soundtrack to the film "Shrek 2".

Heavy metal band, Machine Head, formed in California in 1991. They have released eight albums from 1994 to 2014 and garnered a Grammy award nomination in 2008 for their song "Aesthetics of Hate" off the album "The Blackening" where they lost out to Slayer.

Rage Against the Machine was formed in Los Angeles in 1991. They are a rock band, but known for including rapping in their songs. Guitarist Tom Morello is listed at number forty on Rolling Stone magazine's "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" list. Rage released four albums from 1992 to 2000 and were nominated for seven Grammy awards in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001 and 2002 of which they won two (1997, 2001).
