Answer: Heisenberg

Einstein was reacting to Heisenberg's uncertainty principle. This idea has remained controversial, yet highly influential, up to the modern day.
2. Which of these discoveries was made by accident?

Answer: Penicillin

Penicillin was discovered by accident when Alexander Fleming noticed one of his laboratory cultures was contaminated by mold. The other three choices were all theorized.
3. Alpha rays, beta rays and gamma rays were originally referred to as ____________ rays. What scientist's name belongs in the blank?

Answer: Becquerel

Becquerel was the discoverer of radioactivity and a co-winner of the Nobel Prize with the Curies in 1903. The Curies worked off of Becquerel's discovery to make several discoveries of their own, for example the element radium.
4. What was Francis Bacon doing that helped cause him to get sick and die?

Answer: Stuffing a chicken with snow

He was trying to prove that cold could help preserve food...he was right!
5. What U.S. physicist formulated the theory of the quark?

Answer: Murray Gell-Mann
