1. Who said the following quote originally: 'Any man who hates dogs and babies can't be all bad'?

Answer: Leo Rosten

Rosten said these words about Fields. Later, 'babies' was changed to 'children'. And Rosten's quote was from a New York Times reporter named Bryon Darnton. But his quote was 'No man who hates dogs and children can be all bad.'
2. 'Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing' was originally said by whom?

Answer: Red Sanders

This was the Vanderbilt University football coach's slogan before it was attributed to Vince Lombardi.
3. What was the original version of the quote 'the opera ain't over till the fat lady sings'?

Answer: Church ain't out till the fat lady sings.

Opera quote is usually associated with Dick Motta (basketball coach). He credits sportscaster Dan Cook with the quote, which was probably adapted from the earlier version (the church one).
4. 'Elementary, my dear Watson' is in a 'Sherlock Holmes' mystery.

Answer: false

It never appeared in any of Doyle's 'Sherlock Holmes' novels. It's sort of like "Beam me up, Scotty" and how the phrase was never actually said on "Star Trek,"

He said it before a 1946 game with the Giants.

To make the quote more coherent, people started adding the extra 'a'...Eventually, Stein added the 'a' to the poem herself.

Answer: no

In his autobiography, he claims that the words were written by a reporter who needed more words for his story.

Apparently some reporters decided to clean up his grammar.
