Each Question has Three Answers -- #1 Quiz

After doing a series of Bible quizzes in which each question has two answers, I thought it would be fitting to compile a quiz in which each question has three answers. The NKJV was used for this quiz.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Out of the names below, which three were the sons of Adam and Eve?

Answer: Cain, Abel, Seth

Adam and Eve, the first man and first woman, were the parents of three sons who are named -- Cain, Abel and Seth. Scripture states they were also the parents of other sons and daughters but no names are given. The account of Adam and Eve appears in Genesis 2 through 5.
2. Out of the names below, which three were sons of Jacob and Leah?

Answer: Reuben, Simeon, Levi

Out of the different options, Reben, Simeon and Levi were sons of Jacob and Leah. Genesis 35:23 tells of them having three other sons and one daughter. The three other sons were Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun. The name of their daughter was Dinah.
3. Out of the names below, which three were sons of Noah?

Answer: Shem, Ham, and Japheth

Shem, Ham, and Japheth were the sons of Noah and his unnamed wife, as per Genesis 9:18. Scripture tells of Noah and his wife and their three sons and their wives taking refuge in a gigantic ark when an enormous flood engulfed the world. Also on board the ark were a male and female of every kind of animal and bird.

The flood was caused when it rained continuously for forty days and forty nights, Scripture states.
4. Out of the titles below, which ones are part of the Minor Prophet section of the Old Testament?

Answer: Joel, Amos, Obadiah

Joel, Amos, Obadiah are all part of the Minor Prophet section found at the end of the Old Testament. The section consists of twelve books with each one bearing the name of the author. In the Hebrew Bible, the books are known as the Twelve Prophets. Other books in the Minor Prophet section are Hosea, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habukkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi.
5. Who were the three people Jesus raised from the dead in the New Testament?

Answer: The widow's son, Jairus' daughter and Lazarus

Jesus raised three different people from the dead, according to accounts in the New Testament. The three people were the widow's son, Jairus' daughter and Lazarus, the brother of Mary and Martha.

The account of Jesus raising the widow's son from the dead at Nain is found in Luke 7:11-15. No names are given for the widow and her son.

Meanwhile, details about Jesus raising Jairus' twelve-year-old daughter from the dead are found in Matthew 9:18-26, Mark 5:21-43 and Luke 8:40-56.

Finally, the account of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead at Bethany is found in John 11:1-44. The passage states Lazarus had been dead four days when he was miraculously brought back to life by Christ.
6. According to John 1:44, what three members of the original Twelve Disciples came from Bethsaida?

Answer: Peter, Andrew, Philip

Peter, Andrew and Philip all came from Bethsaida, a fishing community on the northeastern shore of the Sea of Galilee. It is possible other disciples came from Bethsaida but there is no confirmation in Scripture. Peter and Andrew were bothers. And some fascinating trivia about Philip.

Whenever a list of the names of the Twelve Disciples is presented in the New Testament, Philip's name always appears fifth.
7. Out of the options below, what three were members of the original Twelve Disciples?

Answer: Thomas, Matthew, Philip

Thomas, Matthew, Philip were all members of the original Twelve Disciples. Matthias, one of the options, was appointed as a disciple after Judas Iscariot had committed suicide, but was never a member of the original Twelve. While Peter, Andrew, James and John were original disciples, Paul, Timothy, Titus and Philemon never had such status.
8. Out of the titles below, what three books were written by Paul?

Answer: 1 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy, Titus

1 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy and Titus were all written by Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles. 1 Thessalonians was addressed to members of the early church at Thessaloniki, the second largest city in modern day Greece. Meanwhile, 1 Timothy and Titus were addressed to two workers in the early church. Timothy was young and timid and a favorite of Paul, who often described him as his son. Meanwhile, Titus served as worker in the early church on the island of Crete.
9. Out of the titles below, what three books, going by tradition, were written by John?

Answer: Gospel of John, 1 John, Revelation

John, a member of the original Twelve Disciples, is credited with writing the Gospel of John, 1 John and Revelation. He is also credited with writing two other books in the New Testament -- 2 John and 3 John.

It must be pointed out some modern-day theologians believe the John who wrote Revelation was not the same John who was a member of the original Twelve Disciples. However, tradition holds John the disciple also wrote Revelation and for the record, I am squarely on the side of tradition.
10. What three of the following constitute the holy trinity, as per common Christian belief?

Answer: Father, Son and the Holy Spirit

The holy trinity consists of God (the Father), the Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit (or Holy Ghost). Some Christians, in explaining the trinity, point to an example of H20 being water, ice and steam. And while H20 manifests in three different forms, it is still one substance -- water.
