Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Out of the names below, which two women were wives of Jacob?

Answer: Leah and Rachel

Leah and Rachel were sisters and both were married to Jacob. The two women were daughters of Laban. Leah was the oldest while Rachel was the apple of Jacob's eye.

According to Scripture, Jacob was tricked by Laban into marrying Leah. He had agreed to work for Laban for seven years for the right to win Leah's hand. However, Jacob ended up being married to Leah as Laban told him it was not the custom for a younger daughter to be married before the older one.

As a result, Jacob agreed to work for another seven years for Laban to be able to marry Rachel.
2. Which two brothers went on a vigilante killing spree after their sister Dinah was defiled? (Genesis 34:25)

Answer: Simeon and Levi

Simeon and Levi went on a vigilante killiing spree after their sister Dinah was defiled by Shechem, as per Genesis 34:1-31. Simeon and Levi, as well as Dinah, were the offspring of Jacob and Leah. The killing spree took place in Shechem, the same name as the perpetrator.

The passage tells of Simeon and Levi killing "all the males" in Schechem and taking all the women and the children captive.

After this instance, there is no further mention of Dinah in Scripture, apart from Genesis 46:15 which states she was the daughter of Jacob and Leah.
3. Out of the names below, which two men were the sons of Jacob and Rachel?

Answer: Joseph and Benjamin

Joseph and Benjamin were both sons of Jacob and Rachel. Jacob was also married to Rachel's sister Leah and he fathered children with Zilpah and Bilhah, handmaidens of his two wives. However, Rachel was his favorite. Jacob fathered twelve sons and Joseph was clearly his favorite.

Rachel died giving birth to Benjamin, as per Genesis 35:8. Just prior to her death, she called him Ben-Oni, but Jacob changed the name to Benjamin.
4. Out of the names below, which two men were sons of Abraham?

Answer: Isaac and Ishmael

Isaac and Ishmael were both sons of Abraham, although they had different mothers. Sarah was the mother of Isaac while Hagar, Sarah's handmaiden, was the mother of Ishmael.

Isaac would marry Rebekah and they would become parents of the first set of twins in Scripture -- Jacob and Esau. Meanwhile, Ishmael would become the father of the Arab nation, as per Genesis 17:20 and 25:16.
5. Which two men entered King Saul's camp undetected late at night, as per 1 Samuel 26:5-25?

Answer: David and Abishai

The correct answer is David and Abishai. According to 1 Samuel 26:5-25, the two men sneaked into King Saul's camp undetected while the king and his soldiers were sleeping. The foray took place during a time when Saul was on a vendetta, determined to kill David. Even though Saul was sleeping with a spear stuck in the ground nearby, David refused to take Saul's life. This even though Abishai urged David to take such action.

In Verse 11 of the passage, David is quoted as saying, "The LORD forbid that I should stretch out my hand against the LORD'S anointed."
6. Which two men did Jesus appear before while on trial?

Answer: Herod and Pilate

After appearing before Annas, Caiphas and the Sanhedrin, (John 18:19-24 and Matthew 26:57) Jesus was then taken to Pilate, the Roman governor, (John 18:28). Then after appearing before Pilate, He was taken before Herod (Luke 23:7) before being returned to Pilate (Luke 23:11-12). Similar to Pilate, Herod was a Roman governor, but for Galilee and district.

It was during Christ's second appearance before Pilate that He was sentenced to death by crucifixion.
7. Which two Roman governors did Paul appear before while on trial?

Answer: Felix and Festus

Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, appeared before Felix and Festus, as per the book of Acts.

Details about Paul appearing before Felix, the Roman governor, can be found in Acts 23 and 24. Meanwhile, details about Paul appearing before Festus, who replaced Felix as governor, can be found in Acts 25 and 26.

Ultimately, it was decided to send him to Rome to appear before Caesar.
8. Out of the names below from the New Testament, which two women were sisters?

Answer: Mary and Martha

Mary and Martha were sisters who lived in Bethany. They had a brother named Lazarus. Going strictly by Scripture, Mary was insightful while Martha was industrious.

John 11 tells of Jesus miraculously raising Lazarus from the dead, even though he had been dead for four days. In John 11:25, Jesus makes the great declaration: "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die."
9. Out of the names below, which two women were the grandmother and mother of Timothy? (2 Timothy 1:5)

Answer: Lois and Eunice

Lois was the grandmother of Timothy while Eunice was his mother, as per 2 Timothy 1:5. However, little is known about the two women as they are mentioned in passing reference. According to Acts 16:1, Eunice was Jewish and was married to a Greek man. The verse indicates her husband was not a believer.
10. Out of the names of the original Twelve Disciples below, which two were brothers?

Answer: Peter and Andrew

Peter and Andrew were brothers and they came from Bethsaida, a fishing community on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. In addition to Peter and Andrew, there was another set of brothers among the original Twelve Disciples -- James and John.

Although Peter and Andrew were brothers, they apparently had different characteristics. Scripture paints a picture of Peter as being brash and extroverted while Andrew is portrayed as being quiet and introverted.
