Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who asked Jesus this question? "Lord, do You speak this parable only to us, or to all people?"

Answer: Peter

The question was asked of Jesus by Peter, as per Luke 12:41. He asked the question after Jesus had told a parable about two servants, one who was faithful, the other who was unfaithful.

The parable concludes with this advice from Jesus: "Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect."

Christ's lengthy response to Peter's question can be found in Luke 12:42-48.
2. Who asked Jesus this question? "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?"

Answer: Unnamed lawyer, or an expert in Mosaic Law

The question, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?", was asked of Jesus by an unnamed lawyer, as per Luke 10:25.

In His response, Jesus said, in part: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself."

Jesus then used the occasion to tell the lawyer the Parable of the Good Samaritan.

An almost identical question was asked of Jesus by a rich young ruler in Luke 18:18. That question reads: "Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" (The question by the rich, young ruler is featured in Part 2 in my series of quizzes about questions people asked Jesus.)
3. Who asked Jesus this question? "You have a demon. Who is seeking to kill You?"

Answer: People in general

The question, "You have a demon. Who is seeking to kill You?", was asked of Jesus by people in general, as per John 7:20.

The passage John 7:10-24 tells of Jesus going into the temple and teaching during the Feast of Tabernacles with the people marveling, saying, "How does this Man know letters, having never studied?"

In His response, Jesus said in part, His doctrine was the message from God for the people. Christ also asked them two questions: "Did not Moses give you the law, yet none of you keeps the law? Why do you seek to kill Me?"

When Jesus wanted to know why they sought to kill Him, they posed the question featured in the quiz question: "You have a demon. Who is seeking to kill You?"

In His response to their question, Jesus pointed out they were upset with Him because He had healed people on the Sabbath. Then in Verse 24, He said: "Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment."
4. Who asked Jesus this question? "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?"

Answer: The original Twelve Disciples

The original Twelve Disciples asked the question, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?", as per John 9:2.

In His response, Jesus told His disciples that neither did the unnamed man or his parents sin to cause him to be born blind. He proceeded to tell them the man was born blind, "that the works of God should be revealed in him."

Christ then went on to make the declaration: "As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world."

The statement was made on the heels of John 8:12, in which Christ states, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life."

The chapter goes on to tell of Christ miraculously enabling the man to see.
5. Who asked Jesus this question? "What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?"

Answer: Common people meeting with Jesus

The correct answer is 'common people meeting with Jesus'. John 6:28 tells of the people asking Jesus the question the day after He fed 5,000 men with a pittance of food and then calming a storm on the Sea of Galilee. By this time, Christ was on the other side of the Sea of Galilee after feeding the multitude and calming the storm.

Prior to being asked the question featured in the quiz question, Jesus told the people, "Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him."

It was at this point the people asked Jesus, "What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?"

Christ's answer to the question is recorded in John 6:29. The verse states: "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent."

Then in Verse 35, Christ makes the famous declaration: "I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst."

For complete details, see John 6:22-40.
6. Who asked Jesus this question? "How do You know me?"

Answer: Nathanael

Nathanael, one of the original Twelve Disciples, is the correct answer. He asked Jesus the question in John 1:48.

According to Scripture, Philip had invited Nathanael to meet Jesus and while Nathanael was initially reluctant, he agreed to Philip's request.

Scripture goes to state that when Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, He said, "Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!" Nathanael then asked Jesus, "How do You know me?"

In responding to Nathanael's question, Jesus said to him, "Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you."

The statement by Jesus deeply impressed Nathanael and he declared, "Rabbi, You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!"

The fact Jesus said He saw Nathanael under a fig tree has prompted many scholars to speculate He saw him from a considerable distance. There is also speculation that Nathanael was under the fig tree in an isolated location where he thought no one would be able to see him.
7. Who asked Jesus these questions? "Lord, who is the one who betrays You? But Lord, what about this man?"

Answer: Peter

Peter asked the two questions of Jesus, as per John 21:20 and 22. The questions were asked on the shore of the Sea of Galilee after the resurrected Christ appeared to a number of the disciples who had been fishing.

Jesus has just asked Peter on three different occasions if he loved Him and Peter adamantly said 'yes'.

When Peter said 'yes' for the third time, Jesus told him: "Feed My sheep. Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish."

It was with this background Peter asked his questions.

To better understand the conversation between Peter and Jesus, I highly recommend you read John 21:15-23.
8. Who asked Jesus these questions? "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign when all these things will be fulfilled?"

Answer: Peter, James, John and Andrew

The questions were asked by Peter, James, John and Andrew as they sat with Jesus on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, as per Mark 13:3-4. The four disciples asked Jesus the question after He pointed to the nearby "great buildings" and proclaimed, "not one stone shall be left upon another, that shall not be thrown down."

Mark 13:5-13 provides a discourse from Jesus on the signs of the times and the end of the age.
9. Who asked Jesus this question? "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?"

Answer: The Pharisees

The question was asked of Jesus by the Pharisees, as per Matthew 19:3. They apparently asked the question as part of an on-going effort to trap Jesus with one of His pronouncements.

In a nutshell, Jesus told them, a husband and wife become one flesh and "what God has joined together, let not man separate."

Scripture goes on to quote Jesus as saying the exception to the rule is "sexual immorality".
10. Who asked Jesus this question? "Where could we get enough bread in the wilderness to fill such a great multitude?"

Answer: The original Twelve Disciples

The question was asked of Jesus by the original Twelve Disciples, as per Matthew 15:33. The verse is part of a passage telling of Jesus feeding four thousand men (the number of women and children is not stated) with a pittance of food in the wilderness.

According to Verse 34, Jesus fed the multitude with seven loaves of bread and
"a few little fish."

Scripture goes on to tell of the multitude being fed with everyone being satisfied and the disciples filling "seven large baskets" with the leftovers.
