Answer: 1878

The club was formed as Grimsby Pelham in 1878, and changed their name to Grimsby Town a year later.
2. Where did the club first play their home games?

Answer: Clee Park

The club played at Clee Park until 1879, when they moved into Lovet Street for a season. They then went back to Clee Park for a further nine years, and played at Abbey Park until 1898, when they moved into Blundell Road.
3. Who was the club's first manager in their history?

Answer: H N Hickson

Hickson was manager between 1902-20, followed by Price for just four months, then Fraser until 1924, with Gillow taking the helm between 1924-32.
4. In what season were Grimsby first elected into the Football League?

Answer: 1892-93

Grimsby finished 4th out of 12 teams in Divison Two this season, in a League consisting of teams such as Ardwick (later to become Manchester City), Darwen, Burton Swifts, and Bootle.
5. Which club sold Steve Chettle to Grimsby in 2002?

Answer: Barnsley

Chettle made his name at Forest, playing 415 League games between 1986-99. He then signed for Barnsley, and went out to Walsall on-loan, before signing for Grimsby.

Glover scored 42 League goals in the 1933-34 Division Two season. He also set a club record for the most career goals, with 180 between 1930-39.
