Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who scored the penalty that crowned Juventus as Champions in the 1981-82 season's last game against Catanzaro?

Answer: Brady

This was Brady's last game with Juve. In the following season he was transferred to make way for Platini and Boniek.
2. Against which Spanish side did Juventus win the UEFA Cup in 1977?

Answer: Athletico Bilbao

This was Juve's first victory in Europe. The two-legged game was decided on the away-goals rule. Juve had won 1-0 at home and lost 1-2 away.
3. Which of the following did Juventus win in the 1989-1990 season?

Answer: Coppa Italia and Uefa Cup

The 1989-90 season was a welcome change for Juventus fans who had gone 4 years without winning any important trophy (and would have to wait for a further 5 before actually winning the league!).
4. Which player scored the last (and winning) penalty in the penalty-shoot-out of the 1996 Champions' League Final?

Answer: Jugovic

Thanks to misses by two Ajax players, the penalty taken by Jugovic proved decisive.
5. What was the final score in the 1985 SUPERCUP final between Juventus and Liverpool? (Juventus won the game)

Answer: 2-0

The match was played on a one-leg format in Turin. Polar conditions prevailed so much that the ball that was used was coloured red (to distinguish from the white of snow).
6. In which year did Juventus win their first league title?

Answer: 1905

The first of many leagues titles came 8 years after Juve were founded.
7. Which of these Juventus players has won the European Player of the Year award?

Answer: Paolo Rossi

Rossi's achievements in the 1982 World Cup (becoming the top-scorer and whose goals enabled Italy to overcome Brazil, Poland and West Germany) helped him win the award in the same year.
8. Which Portuguese side did Juventus beat in 1984 to win the Cup Winners' Cup?

Answer: Porto

This was the first time that Juve won such trophy. They qualified for the tournament following the previous year's victory in the Coppa Italia against Verona.
9. How many 'scudetti' had Juventus won by the end of the 1977-78 season?

Answer: 18

Juve's record literally exploded between the 1970s and early 80s, in which they seldom finished the league without winning it. The 20th 'scudetto' was won in 1982.
10. In the 1985-86 season, Juventus started the league on a victorious note, winning a number of consecutive games. How many games did they win in a row?

Answer: 8

The 1985-86 season was characterised by a superb performance by Juve in the first round, followed by a superb performance by Roma in the second round. With two remaining games both teams were on equal points. Roma incredibly lost all hope after losing the penultimate game at home to bottom (and already-relegated) team of Lecce.
