She won two bronze medals in Atlanta 1996 for cycling (one in the road race and the other in the time trial). She competed in the Sypdney 2000 Olympics but finished out of the medals. At Salt Lake she won a bronze in the 5,000 metre speed skating event. Clara became the 4th athlete to win a medal at both the summer and winter Olympics: the first was Eddie Eagan (USA), who won a boxing gold in 1920 and a bobsleigh gold in 1932. Jacob Tullin Thams (Norway) was the second - he won a ski jumping gold at the 1924 Games and a sailing silver in 1936. Christa Luding-Rothenburger (East Germany) won four speed skating medals in 1984, 1988 and 1992, and also won a silver in the match sprint cycling event in 1988 (she is the only athlete to win both winter and summer medals in the same year).
