Swindon's first season in the Football League was in the 1920-21 season, where they finished a respectable fourth in the Third Division.
2. Where did the club first play their home games?

Answer: The Croft

Swindon played at the Croft between 1880-95, until they moved into the County Ground. Swindon Road and Town Street do not exist as football grounds.
3. Who was the club's first manager in their history?

Answer: Sam Allen

Allen was in charge of the club for over 30 years between 1902-33. Vizard took the job between 1933-39, with Harris lasting from 1939-41. Page was the manager between 1945-53. Other Swindon managers over the years have included Lou Macari, Osvaldo Ardiles, Steve McMahon, and Glenn Hoddle.
4. Swindon signed Jamie Cureton from which club in 2005?

Answer: Queens Park Rangers

Cureton began his career with Norwich City, where he played between 1993-96. Between that period, he had loan spells with Bournemouth and Bristol Rovers, before making a permanent switch to Bristol. Cureton played for Reading between 2000-03, and had five months with Pusan I.cons in Korea afterwards before switching to QPR. Cureton signed for Swindon in June, 2005.

Swindon beat Sunderland 1-0 in the playoff final on 28th May, 1990. However, it was to be Sunderland that were promoted along with leeds United and Sheffield United, as Swindon were found guilty of financial irregularities. The club were originally sentenced to relegation, but won an appeal to stay in Division Two. Swindon's chairman at that time, Brian Hiller, was sentenced to six months in prison for his part.

Trollope played an incredible 770 League games for the club during 1960-80. McLoughlin played in 106 League games for Swindon between 1986-90. 'Razor' Ruddock played 15 League games for the club between 2001-03, before hanging up his boots, and Calderwood donned the Swindon shirt 330 times in the League between 1985-93.

Swindon beat Arsenal in the 1969 League Cup final, with two goals from Don Rogers, and one from Roger Smart. Bobby Gould hit Arsenal's only goal. The Swindon team that day was: Peter Downsborough, Rod Thomas, John Trollope, Joe Butler, Frank Burrows, Stan Harland, Don Heath, Roger Smart, John Smith, Peter Noble, and Don Rogers. Willie Penman came on as a substitute. Arsenal's team included the likes of Bob Wilson, Frank McLintock, Ian Ure, and George Graham.

Swindon beat QPR 1-0 on 24th November, 1993, to record their first ever victory in the Premier League. They went on to be relegated in last place that season, with just five wins out of 42 games played. Swindon beat the previously mentioned QPR twice, as well as Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur, Coventry City.
9. Who became Swindon Town chairman in 2001?

Answer: Willie Carson

Carson, a five-time champion jockey, took the reigns at Swindon in 2001, following a consortium battle to take control of the club. Perhaps Carson's most famous ride was the 1979 Derby, when he rode Troy to victory. Carson went on to ride three more horses to the winning post in the Derby, with Henbit in 1980, Nashwan in 1989, and Erhaab in 1994.
10. Swindon sent the record for their biggest League victory in the 1920-21 season, by winning 9-1. Who did they beat?

Answer: Luton Town

It was Swindon's first game in the Football League, when they hammered Luton 9-1 on 28th August, 1920. Swindon went on to finish in fourth place, seven points behind Division Three champions, Crystal Palace, winning 21, drawing 10, and losing 11.
