Martin was a member of the Jacksonville State Gamecocks, a school that joined Division I-AA (later known as the Football Championship Subdivision) in 1996 as a member of the Southland Conference. Martin went 3 for 3 in extra point attempts, also becoming the first woman to score in a Division I game.

In 2003, Jacksonville State left the Southland and became members of the Ohio Valley Conference.
