Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. At the start of the episode, a caged Victor Strand was talking to Doug Thompson about buyers and closers. He said that he could "sell anything, everything, ask anyone". What was the one thing Victor claimed he could *not* sell?

Answer: Insurance

Victor: "Fire, earthquake, flood, you bought it all, didn't you. That's not a question. I'm not asking, I'm telling you. I look at a person like you, and I know. You are a buyer. How do I know? Because, I am a closer. I can sell anything, everything, ask anyone. Except, ah, insurance... can't stomach it. Praying on people so weak, so frightened of the future, that they trust the protection of their family to a piece of paper. To some promise of a corporation. What kind of man does that? Puts his wife and children in the hands of strangers. People he's never even met. That man, one day the man is gone. His family alone, wolf comes to the door, and no one's covered for that."

It sounded a little like Travis to me. Doug gazed down at a picture of him and his family, and began to cry as Victor ended his tale.

Colman Domingo played Victor.
2. Maddie was the first person to discover that Ofelia and Daniel had one of the army guys held hostage.

Answer: True

Maddie found the letter Susan Tran wrote to her husband Patrick before she turned. It was in Alicia's bedroom, so Maddie went to the Tran house to look for her. What she found downstairs was Ofelia and Daniel standing over a bound Andrew Adams, who'd been romancing Ofelia. Daniel told Maddie that Andrew was how they'd bring their family home.
3. Who said, "So which is it? You don't want him hurt, or do you don't wanna know"?

Answer: Daniel

Ofelia believed they would trade Andrew for their family members. When she left the room, Maddie told Daniel that they would never trade for Andrew. He said he knew that, but Andrew had information that would help them get Nick and Griselda back from wherever they were being held. Maddie didn't want him to torture Andrew, but when push came to shove, she was willing to allow Daniel to do it.
4. Did Travis shoot the "infected" waitress, as instructed by Moyers?

Answer: No

Travis did lean into the 50 caliber rifle, and received instructions on how to fire it without injuring himself. But, after he read her name tag through the scope, he backed off. He couldn't do it. Moyers was the one who did shoot Kimberly, the zombie/walker/infected donut shop waitress. Moyers was supposed to be taking Travis to see Dr. Exner, but Moyers didn't survive the trip.

Tammy Nera played Kimberly. She is an experienced stunt performer, and has been in "Almost Human", "Arrow", and "The Strain".
5. Who biked over to the home of "some rich people who were coming back" to play for a little while?

Answer: Alicia and Chris

Alicia was riding around on a young girl's pink bicycle (I presume), and Chris was laying on top of a car. She joked with him that she was the law in these parts. Then, she asked him to hop on the bike so she could show him something. He was hesitant, at first, about pilfering someone's home, but she told him they were just some rich people who are never coming back.

They ended up wrecking the house to blow off some steam.
6. Victor saved Nick when the soldiers tried to take him away from the cages.

Answer: True

Nick had a fever, so they assumed he was infected. Victor had already traded the officer an expensive watch at some point in the past, for some unknown favor. This time, Victor offered up a pair of jeweled cufflinks and they put Nick back into the cage.

The officer told Victor "no refunds", and that if Nick turned inside the cage, that was Victor's problem. He didn't word it exactly that way.
7. What did 'cobalt' mean, according to Andrew?

Answer: Command to evacuate the L.A. basin

Andrew: "Cobalt is the command code to initiate evac from the L.A. basin."
Travis: "Evac, when? When do we leave?"
Andrew: "Not you, just us."

Maddie had him go on to explain that it also meant the humane termination of either infected, or all remaining humans. It would be at "0900" the next morning.
8. Liza had a key that would help her and Nick escape the internment camp.

Answer: False

It was actually Victor who had the key. Maybe that was what he'd traded his watch for prior to our meeting him. Liza hadn't even seen Nick at this point, and only briefly glanced the caged area. Victor told Nick that he'd bartered with the soldier in order to obligate Nick to help him when he "made his move".

He saw that Nick, as a heroin addict, would have some useful skills during an opportune moment to escape.
9. Whose exchange was this? Person 1: "They're not patrolling." Person 2: "Something's wrong."

Answer: Chris and Alicia

Alicia and Chris were walking back home from their mini adventure, and they watched as military vehicles departed their fenced in community. They both quickly realized it was not a good sign.
10. Who died at the end of the episode?

Answer: Griselda

Just before her death, she was speaking Spanish about actions taken by her and Daniel a long time ago. They had done bad things to survive. Daniel had already confirmed this with Maddie. After Griselda died, Dr. Exner told Liza that everyone came back after death. And, they needed a traumatic brain injury to prevent it. So, Liza took the bolt gun, used for livestock, and shot the bolt into Griselda's head herself.

At the end of the episode, Daniel went to the arena where Andrew claimed to have chained in thousands of people. He found out, Andrew had told him the truth.
