Laurel: "You can't testify."

Moira: "I understand."

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. As the episode begins, viewers are transported back to the night of the earthquake. Moira is warning the media about the imminent danger to the Glades, and at Iron Heights Prison, the guards have just been given the order to evacuate, leaving the prisoners behind. As the earthquake strikes, we see Count Vertigo reading a book in his cell. He takes cover from the falling debris until the shaking subsides, and as the dust settles, he sees that the door to his cell has broken open. Count Vertigo quickly exits the cell and grabs some keys from the body of a dead guard. As Count Vertigo makes his way to freedom through the prison corridors, inmates who are still trapped in their cells call out to him to free them. How many other prisoners does the Count help escape?

Answer: One

The Count passes by several locked cells as prisoners beg to be let out. As he passes, he comments as to why he won't help that prisoner; saying things like they're too eager, or too sloppy, or too stupid. Finally, the Count arrives at the cell of the Dollmaker. Without hesitation, the Count hands the keys to the Dollmaker, telling the Dollmaker that he likes his work.

The Count then escapes through a large gap that was created when a section of prison wall split.
2. Diggle has been feeling sick for the first few scenes of this episode, culminating in him finally passing out in front of Felicity while at Queen Consolidated. Felicity somehow gets Diggle back to the Arrow cave where she draws a blood sample from Diggle to get it analyzed. To do so, she had to send the blood to a chemist she knows that owes her a favour. What did Felicity do for her chemist friend in order to merit a favour of this magnitude?

Answer: She fixed a parking ticket for him

It is not shown how Felicity got Diggle back to the Arrow cave, but that is where Oliver finds them when Felicity tells him Diggle is seriously ill. The blood test revealed that Diggle somehow has traces of Vertigo in his system, which is causing the severe withdrawal-like symptoms that Diggle is experiencing.
3. Moira's trial begins during this episode and proceeds throughout. When the Assistant District Attorney is questioning Thea on the stand, he focuses in on how it appears that even Moira's own daughter, Thea, didn't want anything to do with her mother after the discovery of Moira's role in Malcolm's horrific plan. How many months does the ADA say had passed before Thea visited her mother in prison?

Answer: 5 months

Thea was initially so upset with Moira that she vowed to never visit her mother in prison as her way of hurting Moira. Roy tried to convince Thea to visit, but Thea wouldn't budge. Eventually, Thea caved in and went to the prison, where, overcome with emotion, she told her mother how much she wanted to hate her, but just couldn't.

In the courtroom scene, Thea says she just needed some time to come to terms with all that had happened before visiting her mother. The ADA twists Thea's words, claiming that Thea was angry and unwilling to forgive her mother for the crimes she committed, therefore, why should the jury or the citizens of Starling City forgive Moira if even her own children couldn't.
4. During a flashback to the island, Oliver is leading Dr. Ivo, his crew, and Sara to the cave that held the WW2 Japanese soldiers' skeletons. Upon arrival, what specific item is it revealed that Dr. Ivo is looking for, which viewers know Oliver had already taken?

Answer: The arrowhead hōzen

The arrowhead hōzen that Dr. Ivo is looking for is the same hōzen that Oliver found in the cave during a previous episode; which is also the same hōzen he would later give to Thea upon his return to Starling City in the pilot episode. The hōzen contains coordinates on it that pinpoint the exact location to where the submarine containing the Mirakuru serum can be found.
5. What activity does Roy suggest Thea try in order to help release some of her pent-up anger and stress?

Answer: Boxing

Roy tells Thea that his own pent-up anger was the reason he would always go out at night looking for some baddies to fight. He said part of it was his desire to help the city, but another part of it was just his way of releasing his anger. He explained that he would feel the anger rising up in his chest, and up into his jaw, and that throwing a punch would release it. Roy gives Thea some boxing gloves and tells her that the anger will eat her up inside if she doesn't release it.

He instructs her to punch him.

Thea starts hitting Roy, half-heartedly at first, but then more vigorously until she breaks down in tears.
6. When Felicity is combing through the video footage of Count Vertigo's message to the city after he kidnapped the Assistant District Attorney, she discovers a reflection in the ADA's eye. Felicity enhances the reflection and determines that the Count is hiding out where?

Answer: At the Starling Municipal Records Department building

Felicity says that the building that housed the Starling Municipal Records Department had been abandoned since the city made the switch to digital record keeping. She says it must be where the Count is currently basing his operations from. Oliver suits up to go after the Count.
7. Laurel has taken over Moira's case after the Count kidnapped the Assistant District Attorney. Looking through the ADA's case notes, Laurel discovers the piece of evidence that would ensure Moira would be found guilty. In this scene, Laurel visits Moira to advise her not to testify in court. Complete their conversation: Laurel: "You can't testify." Moira: "Well, the fact that you don't want me to, Laurel, is a good indication that I should." Laurel: "If you take the stand, I'll have to cross examine you, and I'll have to do it to the best of my ability." Moira: "I understand." Laurel: "No, you don't." [hands Moira a document] "Forget about what this will do to Oliver and Thea, it also could undermine your entire case. So, Moira, please, please don't make me use this. Everything is at stake for you, and _____________________"

Answer: "I don't want to be the one to take it all away."

Though the document that Laurel produces isn't visible to the viewers, Moira seems to understand the severity of what the District Attorney's office has dug up on her. Laurel is in an awkward position, stuck between loyalty to the law and her job, and loyalty to Oliver and his family. Laurel cannot legally withhold the evidence, but if she can convince Moira not to testify, Laurel wouldn't be able to question Moira about it. Moira decides to testify regardless of Laurel's warning.
8. After her talk with Laurel, Moira decides to hold a family meeting, before taking the stand in court, in order to reveal to her children the secret that Laurel now knows and that is about to be publicly divulged in the courtroom. What is Moira's secret?

Answer: That she had an extramarital affair with Malcolm Merlyn

Moira explains that she only cheated on Robert because he had repeatedly cheated on her. This is not the first time that the issue of Moira's infidelities with Malcolm had come up, as she was questioned about it by Oliver during season one. At that time, Moira chose to lie to Thea about her affair with Malcolm, so when Thea hears the truth in this scene, she is understandably upset.
9. How do Felicity and Diggle discover that the Vertigo got into Diggle's system?

Answer: He was unwittingly injected with it when he went to get his annual flu vaccine

Diggle's symptoms are consistent with withdrawal symptoms and he tells Felicity he didn't know someone could become addicted to a drug so fast after just one dose. Felicity tells him it definitely can happen and says he should try heroin sometime. She quickly realizes what a silly thing to say that was and takes it back. Together, Diggle and Felicity then plot out the route that the flu vaccine mobile had been taking throughout the city in order to locate where it would be next.
10. Felicity gets captured and taken hostage by Count Vertigo. He takes her to Queen Consolidated where the Arrow soon arrives. The Count threatens to kill Felicity with a lethal dose of Vertigo, and as he backs up toward a window, Oliver seizes his opportunity and fires three arrows into the Count's chest, sending him flying out the window where he plummets to the ground below. Later, back at the Arrow cave, Felicity thanks Oliver for saving her life once again. Complete their heartfelt conversation: Felicity: "Oliver? I, uh, I just wanted to say thank you." Oliver: "Yeah." Felicity: "And, I'm sorry." Oliver: "For what?" Felicity: "I got myself into trouble again, and you... Killed him. You killed again, and I'm sorry that I was the one who put you in a position where you had to make that kind of choice." Oliver: "Felicity, he had you, and he was gonna hurt you. ________________________"

Answer: "There was no choice to make."

Oliver was shot in the arm during the standoff with the Count, but he says he is fine. After Moira's case wrapped up with a not guilty verdict, Oliver went back to the Arrow cave to make sure that Diggle and Felicity were okay. When Oliver tells Felicity that there was no choice to make, she smiles at him and he leaves.
