When Jillian was younger, she used to stay up all night drawing pictures of Pretzel Jack because she missed her father. One night, when her mother sent her to bed early, she laid down and wished really hard for something to be better, and when she opened her eyes there was a small door in the back of her closet.

She got up and opened it, and in the blackness there, as she stepped back, Pretzel Jack emerged, tumbling before her and contorting to make her laugh. In the present day, Jack appears before her in the basement and the two embrace before Jack joins the shell of his former self and falls asleep on the floor. Jillian closes the door behind her as she and Ian head upstairs.

Ian tells Jillian that she needs to lean into her powers. If she really wished, she could develop her abilities and control Pretzel Jack more than she ever thought she could. That said, Ian would need to train her in the finer details of this art. Then, it could be safe to actually uncreate Pretzel Jack. From the living room, Jillian sees Tom arguing with Sarah outside and immediately springs to anger. Pretzel Jack awakens, escapes the basement, and attacks Sarah with a knife, stabbing her in the leg.

The police are called and arrive soon after to find the window that Jack broke to escape.

Pursuing Tom, Sarah, and Jack into the woods, Jillian tries to calm herself down with Ian's guidance until the two of them find Pretzel Jack's makeup streaked along the ground. Tom and Sarah race to an empty community centre, still arguing about whether or not Sarah's child is his son.

She denies he is though, and she tells him that she got a paternity test done. She got the results back and the child isn't Tom's. Jack continues to chase after Tom and Sarah though, descending into the community centre to seek them out and only going off the trail when they distract him. Tom says that he'll go find help while she hides.

Answer: A swimming pool

When Tom emerges from Sarah's hiding spot he finds an empty gymnasium before him and tries to creep through. He's only barely able to barricade the door to stop Jack from bursting through, and what follows is a chase through the building. When Tom reaches the swimming pool, however, he finds that he's locked inside, and the fight leads into the pool itself.
Jill manages to follow her instincts to the observation room and Ian persuades her to calm down and use her powers to calm Pretzel Jack. She has to imagine that she can take all of her energies and feelings-- all of Jack's feelings-- and transfer them to the palms of her hands. Then she just needs to let him go.
She does, and Tom is freed from his grasp.

With Tom freed from Jack's grasp under the water of the pool, Ian tells Jill that she's not done. With Jack in the palms of her hands, she needs to think of a single word-- 'Crush'. And when she does this, she'll kill Jack and it will feel like she's crushing herself. Nonetheless, as Ian says, she needs to power through.

She does, and Pretzel Jack explodes into pieces under the water of the pool. Upstairs, both Ian and Jill collapse. Sarah emerges at the sound of the explosion to assist Tom, and as she helps him up, Jillian rises to see them leave.

Sarah ends up getting taken to the hospital and she speaks to Jill alone about the situation, asking if she knows who she is. Sarah tells Jill the truth-- that her son is not Tom's. She also claims that Tom never loved her, but it doesn't matter to Jill; what matters is that Tom lied. Trust, however, can be rebuilt when it's broken.
Jill heads out to the hall to find that Tom has left, having decided not to hang around with Ian. She asks Ian to give her a ride home.
Tom ends up returning with coffee but Sarah asks him to leave; her husband is on his way. She wishes him good luck before he leaves.

Jill, getting a ride home from Ian, asks him to stop the car on the highway so that she can get out, and when she does she stands in front of an overpass bearing a billboard or Willow Courts. The billboard is rather unimportant, but it does feature a picture of her father on it. She isn't aware that her father tried to visit her earlier in the day. Jill asks Ian to teach her how to control her powers; she'll do whatever it takes. She can't go home though. Ian says he knows the perfect place.
In the hospital, Tom wanders the halls until he's stopped by detectives.

Ian drives Jill our to Ian's old family cottage and Jill complains that she's getting a bit dizzy. She throws up due to the exhaustion and motion sickness before Ian leads her inside for some water and rest. Jill feels like it's all a bit familiar. Inside, Ian lights a fire in the living room and Jill explains that it's almost like there's a part of her missing-- a part that keeps her up straight. It's because she killed a part of herself. Ian suggests Jill get as much sleep as she can since she'll need the energy.
At the hospital, Tom has to reveal everything he can to the detectives who, looking for answers, wonder out loud if Jill might want Tom dead for any reason.
After Ian puts Jill to bed, he checks her buzzing phone; her dad has been messaging her repeatedly.

Tom gets home to find his phone ringing on a table and when he answers, it's Bill Hope, Jill's father, trying to locate her. It's an emergency, he claims. There's a lot she needs to know about their family and he's at the Mill Road Inn.
At the inn, Bill answers the door to find Ian who, not-so-cryptically, says that he wasn't the kid Bill was expecting. The two of them argue over some of the past transgressions Ian made and Bill tries to convince him to leave his daughter-- Ian's half-sister-- alone.
Tom, meanwhile, heads out while trying to contact Jill. Unfortunately, Ian has her phone with him. Ian doesn't even notice. He's too busy getting angry with his father and summoning something from the other side. The door materializes behind Bill without his noticing and something emerges from it to kill him.

Answer: Half-brother

Tom arrives at the Mill Road Inn to find Ian pulling a suitcase into the back of his car and pulling away. Staying at a distance until he's gone, he cautiously makes his way to Bill's room and knocks and, when he doesn't get an answer, he smashes through the door to find the place empty. There's not even a body in the bathtub, where Ian placed Bill's corpse.
After stopping off at a restaurant, Ian ravenously tears into several hamburgers, messily gorging on the meal.
The next morning, Jill awakens to a sunny day to find Ian ready with a mug of herbal tea. She'll need it, he says, since she'll need all of her strength for her training. When he leans in for a kiss, she doesn't pull back.
