Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Tom is attacked by Pretzel Jack while at Ms. Moss' house, but is he injured?

Answer: Yes

Tom fights with Pretzel Jack, managing to emerge from Ms. Moss' sensory deprivation pool and escape out into the hallway. Jack overtakes Tom though, and the two fight on the ground with Jack just barely being able to force his knife into Tom's chest. Down the hall, a dying Ms. Moss fires her gun at Pretzel Jack, giving Tom the opportunity he needs to rush out of the house, grabbing his car keys on the way, and hopping into his vehicle. Jack gets back up and gets out of the house, but it's too late. Tom makes it to the road...only to be hit by a woman in a van. Jack stumbles off into the night, unseen, while the police are notified.
2. What is Ms. Moss' profession?

Answer: Birth coach

Jillian packs a bag after she hears the news and when she hears a noise coming from downstairs, she finds that Ian has let himself in. Apparently, the dog had gotten out, and he was bringing him back; the door was left open. Jillian worries that Tom was attacked by the same person who killed Jason, so Ian offers to drive her to the hospital. Tom is fine, at least when they arrive, but he seems a bit out of sorts to see Ian with his wife.

It leads to Ian's quick departure, though something is clearly off. Jillian asks Tom about the floating meditation and he admits he should've told her.

There's no time to talk about it, however, since the detectives arrive with Ms. Moss' camera footage and the knowledge that Tom is linked to Moss through Sarah Winters.
3. Pretzel Jack, when not compelled to act by Jillian's emotions, does which of the following?

Answer: Hides away

The detectives ask Tom and Jillian if they know the man from the footage and while Jillian says no, Tom admits that he wears a mask not unlike a character in Jillian's childhood drawings, and if the man was in their basement, he probably took inspiration from them. With this in mind, none of them know, either way, why the killer makes a point of harming everyone except Jillian. When the couple returns home, Tom suggests that they head to a hotel, but Jillian insists on showing him something first, especially since Pretzel Jack is actually her.

She reveals her pictures of Jack and claims that the murderer was made to protect her. Little do they know, Jack is watching from outside their house. Instead of heading into their house, he instead hides under the crawlspace of another.
4. Pretzel Jack's first appearance followed which event in Jillian's life?

Answer: Her father's leaving

Telling Tom the truth, Jillian says that she used to lie awake at night thinking of all the bad things that would happen to her and her family, and she came up with Pretzel Jack after a trip to the circus. After her dad left, Pretzel Jack became real; he walked out of a little door in the back of her bedroom closet, not unlike the door in their basement.

He slept under her bed until she and her mother moved away. When she visited her childhood house, she found the door and opened it to find Pretzel Jack's old body, and when she brings Tom down behind the door in their basement, she reveals it to him, having brought it home with her.

But somehow, he's returned to comfort her and he's more than certainly real.
5. Via which means does Pretzel Jack enter Dr. Carnacki's office?

Answer: Through the window

After telling Tom her secret, she asks him to tell his, and she reveals that she answered his online call from Sarah and heard the baby crying. Tom tells her that Sarah is married and her husband thinks that the kid is his, and knows nothing about Tom.

As Jillian gets angrier and angrier, Pretzel Jack awakens from his place under another house and races through the woods. To deal with their issues, Tom and Jillian decide to go to counselling together with Jillian's former psychiatrist, Dr. Carnacki.

He recommends trauma therapy, but he suggests that imaginary friends seem real to children, and should not exist. This talk leads back to whether or not they're facing Pretzel Jack himself or someone who's simply dressing up as the figure. Once again, Jillian gets angry.

In mere moments the lights flicker and a noise is heard from outside the office. Both Jillian and Tom fear the worst, but Dr. Carnacki insists on looking out the door to confirm that there's nothing wrong. Sure enough, there's nothing out there.
6. Who rescues Tom and Jillian from Dr. Carnacki's office?

Answer: Ian

While Tom, Jillian, and Dr. Carnacki check the hall, however, a noise is heard from back inside the office and Pretzel Jack manages to scale the building, open the window, and tumble inside. Although Tom and Jillian warn the therapist to stay away from the murderer, Dr. Carnacki steps into the room and threatens to call the police. Tom and Jill run instead, and as Dr. Carnacki meets his end at the killer's hands, they rush out to the parking lot just as Ian pulls up in his vehicle and drives them away with Pretzel Jack in pursuit. Ian seems to know something they don't, though, because he says Jillian brought Jack to life because she's special.
7. Ian alleges that he has the same condition as Jillian and can make his own version of Pretzel Jack.

Answer: True

Ian invites Jillian and Tom into his house and says that Jillian has a condition because he has the same condition he does. Over drinks, he explains that they don't have a lot of time. Jillian needs to stay calm since Pretzel Jack will come if she doesn't. Everyone has their own emotional baggage, but for Jillian and Ian that baggage can become real; they can open their secret doors. Tom thinks it's a bit convenient that the two of them could have the same power, but Ian admits that he sought Jillian out, feeling the connection between them, and Jillian would likely feel the same for him at some point. Jillian asks how they kill Pretzel Jack and he explains that it is possible, but all he needs to do is control him. And more manifestations could form, like tumours, so they would need to be careful.
8. Which of these appears behind the door created in Ian's bedroom?

Answer: A cat

Bringing Tom and Jillian to his bedroom, Ian asks them to think of an animal that's small. Tom smugly suggests a werewolf since it's not real, but Jillian asks for a cat. So Ian lays down in bed and, closing his eyes, he begins to seize, forcing his mind and body to conjure something into existence. Sure enough, in front of Tom and Jill's very eyes, a door materializes in the wall of the bedroom and he opens it to reveal a lykoi-- a werewolf cat.

This shocks them both, but Tom is most interested in the door in the wall and the void behind it. Ian suggests that the power is real, but it can be controlled with the right effort.
9. According to Ian, if Jillian moved far away, what would likely happen to Pretzel Jack?

Answer: He would wait

Ian reassures Jillian that it's possible for her to control not only the creation and destruction of the door, but Pretzel Jack as well. Even if she flew around the world, he could re-manifest at any time upon her return (if he died). The three of them decide that they will ultimately need to kill Pretzel Jack by trapping him, so they head back to Tom and Jill's basement and ponder Jack's motivation. Jill claims that Jack protects her from disloyalty, deception, and betrayal, so to tempt him to come forth is for Jill to think about Tom and her relationship and bring forth the rough parts of their marriage, laying their issues bare.
10. Which of these seems to distract Pretzel Jack from attacking Tom in the basement?

Answer: A phone call

To make Jillian angry, Tom talks about the day he slept with Sarah and how he felt about being the father of her kid. He still feels like he should be the one to raise the boy and teach him the things he feels he should. He's afraid, though, that it isn't what Jill wants, and he worries that she'll sabotage his attempts to be a dad. Deep down, he says, she might be like her own father. Tom moves to leave the basement, but Pretzel Jack blocks his exit.

He's only saved when Jill receives a brief phone call from her father.

As Jack enters the basement and contorts to please Jill, Ian tells her to focus and remain calm so that he, too, will remain calm. Jill, comforted, moves into Jack's embrace. She doesn't hear the knocking from upstairs, but Tom does, and when he answers the door, it's for him anyways. Someone needs to talk to him.
