When her sisters came in to get a look at Martin, Susan had potatoes ready to be peeled in the kitchen sink. Her sisters claimed Susan only knew how to make salad - and even that she burned.

Martin found out that Abby taught the reading method that Martin was writing a thesis on. Abby claimed to have 10 years of data out in the garage. Martin then jumped out of his seat to go look at it. Later, Susan claimed that Abby had monopolized the conversation, talked about work when Martin didn't want to, and gone out to the garage first, when it was actually Martin who had done all those things.

Tom took offense to being told 'for a man of your age'. Abby was younger than Tom and he began to feel as though he wouldn't be able to keep up with her.

The straw that broke the camel's back was when Nicholas turned off the water after Joanie took too long of a shower. Tom's water was also affected while he was shaving and told Nicholas that he was fired.

Susan pulled up shortly after Tom. When they got to the apartment's door, Tom told Susan that he would handle the situation. When Martin let them in, they found Abby sitting on a chair with a pencil in her hand. Abby was upset that Tom hadn't trusted her and claimed that the only reason she didn't storm out in a fury was because Tom looked cute all jealous.
