Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Serac informs the President of which country of its potential separatist movement?

Answer: Brazil

When Paris was destroyed by the nuclear blast, Serac and his brother, Jean, who were in the fields outside the city, were the only people they knew who survived. Realizing that the world was in chaos and destruction, and believing that there would be no God to save them, the two headed to the New World to create their own being that could save Earth from itself.

It's why they built Rehoboam. There were problems though-- things Rehoboam couldn't predict. Serac, visiting Brazil, informs the nation's President about separatists in the north of the country that don't yet exist. Ironically, the separatists would only be active if the President didn't stop his mining efforts, and if nothing happened, Brazil would fall into chaos, the President overthrown in a coup. Serac informs the man that the situation will hasten if he doesn't do what he was expected when he was allowed to take the job.
2. Who threatened to pull the plug on Rehoboam?

Answer: Liam Sr.

Building Rehoboam was not easy. Serac and his brother needed data, so they went to Liam Dempsey Sr., who was in the right place at the right time. Dempsey wasn't happy with the investment, but Liam was. Ultimately, Dempsey wanted to pull the plug, but the brothers knew that they needed to continue operating.
Serac receives word that Liam Jr. has gone missing, and Rehoboam has no trace of him. On top of this, Dolores has been spotted on footage from the party in Los Angeles.
Dolores, of course, has Liam in her clutches and, along with Caleb, they plan to use him for access. They know that Serac is planning to outbid Liam on Delos; they can help each other and they can avoid getting killed if they try.
3. What is the first genre Caleb encounters when he is drugged?

Answer: Film noir

Liam uses his glasses to try to identify Dolores in the system, but he finds that she's nothing more than blank space in the records. Caleb, however, is an interesting case. When he sees into Caleb's past, something concerning emerges and Liam feels he has no choice but to drug Caleb, injecting him in the neck with a 'genre'. Dolores stops Liam from escaping, but the hallucinogenic drug works almost immediately, affecting Caleb the minute he gets up.

He walks the streets in black and white before they hop into a ride-share vehicle and he worries paranoiacally that they're being chased.

Despite the drugs, he's right. The vehicle is automatically pulled over.
4. Dolores, Caleb, and Liam escape in a ride-share vehicle. Who's the only one who can access its controls?

Answer: Liam

Dolores forces Liam to input his private key to access his company servers because although the ride-share car is its own unit, he still has control. As Serac's men surround the vehicle, he finally allows verification and Dolores takes the wheel, so to speak. Caleb switches genres as they flee, this time to an action film.

Their vehicle navigates the city streets while the 'police' pursue and Dolores loads her weapon, knocking out the roof window and handing the gun over to Caleb. The other cars fire, missing, but Caleb returns fire with a missile shot that Dolores is able to remotely maneuver.

She pilots her motorbike, armed with explosives, to destroy the other...as he changes genre again.
5. The files within Rehoboam that Liam can access are read-only. Where would he need to be to read them?

Answer: The Incite building

As the last of the enemy vehicles roll in, Caleb eases out of the action genre and into the romance genre, turning to look at Dolores and being overcome with a wave of admiration and love. He snaps out of it in time to shoot the bad guys and greet his RICO-hired associates, one of whom recognizes that Caleb is clearly high on 'genre'. He warns him to watch out for that last act-- if it's a movie marathon, the end of the high is a horror of a climax.
Dolores keeps them moving; if they stop, Serac can find them. The catch is that Liam's key only allows the user to access Rehoboam's read-only files from the node, so she physically needs to be at the Incite building. Because of this, she sends the key to Martin who, walking with Bernard, is already on his way there.
Caleb shifts into a new 'genre' as they head into a subway station.
6. Rehoboam was originally tested as a predictor for which of these?

Answer: Stock markets

Serac and his brother sold Rehoboam's benefits off quickly starting by examining the stock market and analyzing data to give a view fifteen minutes into the future. It was lucrative. The funds immediately multiplied. They stole $5,000,000 from corporate accounts and made $100,000,000 in a week. Serac and Jean aimed higher; they could plan the future for all of humanity.

But the plans started to fall apart. They locked Liam Sr. out. The plans always started to come unglued in the projections. Jean started to go mad. Martin has no problems accessing Rehoboam and he reactivates Bernard when they arrive.

While the files about Serac are transferred out to Dolores, Bernard asks Martin about whether or not his new self is diverging from the original Dolores quite yet.
7. According to Martin, humanity has been riding a train. As he releases their records from Rehoboam, what does he claim they can now see?

Answer: The tracks

Dolores states her plans to the others and Liam worries that revealing the plans and stories of humanity to the people will cause chaos-- suicides, murders, death. She's alright with that though; the people deserve to control their own destinies. Caleb tells Liam about the rat traps they had in Iraq, where rats would drown in water or keep swimming until the inevitable because they had false hope. The reality is they never had a chance. Just like everyone in Rehoboam. Caleb would rather live in chaos than in a world controlled by few.
Dolores tells Martin to send everyone-- everyone in the world-- their pasts, present, and futures. They've all been riding the train, and now they can see the rails. It's instant. People check their devices and learn everything about what it knows and what it decides.
They leave the train at the next stop.
8. What did Serac do with high-risk individuals who affected Rehoboam's success?

Answer: Imprisoned them

Dolores, Caleb, Liam, and their hired help resurface and witness as the world is removed from their own loops, not unlike what happened to the hosts in Westworld. Caleb asks what genre he's in-- it's reality. As two people emerge from a vehicle to shoot Caleb, Dolores stands in front of them and takes the shots to save his life.
From his plane, Serac watches as Rehoboam comes crashing down.
For ten years, he watched as Liam Sr. started to get too close to the truth. One day, Liam's curiosity got the better of him and he stumbled into a facility where Serac had been housing high-risk individuals who acted as chaotic forces to Rehoboam's plan. Serac's reasoning: if they don't adapt, they die.
9. Who, according to Martin, is the only one they can't replace?

Answer: Bernard

There's one last thing Martin has to show Bernard before they leave-- the facility where Serac stored the high-risk citizens. As they proceed, Ashley arrives at the Incite Building and subdues Martin in quick order. They start to move along, but Serac's representatives have arrived. Martin admits there's no need to keep him around and that Bernard needs to leave. He stays back to speak to Serac while Bernard leaves. Cryptically, Martin states that Bernard is the only one they can't replace.
In the board room, Serac appears as a hologram to ask for the details of what went wrong and Martin admits it with ease. He's the one to blame. With minimal effort, he activates the charge under the desk, killing himself and Serac's subordinates in an instant blast.
Bernard and Ashley flee in the resulting chaos. In his plane, Serac determines that Dolores has a hold of his files, the only real target of the operation.
10. Dolores and Liam depart Los Angeles in which of these?

Answer: Plane

Serac, realizing that Liam Sr. was never going to see it his way, drove his investor out to the desert. Though the two of them knew Serac wouldn't kill him-- because of Rehoboam's determination-- Serac brought him out to his destroyed jet and murdered him, operating chaotically outside of the system to save it.
Walking along the beach in Los Angeles, Dolores and Caleb try to determine what to do with Liam since he's no longer necessary for the plan; they got everything they needed off of him. It's then that Caleb falls into his last 'genre'. As Caleb starts to have visions, one of the RICO associates pulls a gun and shoots Liam, claiming it's a way to take his future into his own hands. Caleb tries to apply pressure to the wound as Liam, with his last words, says "you did it". He has no idea what to make of this.
In an air hangar, Dolores and Serac have a remote chat. She warns him that he can't run forever while he says he will save his kind. It's time, she says, to wake up. As her prepares for take-off, Caleb receives a large package from a courier and Dolores brings it onto the plane.
