Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who did Katie end up attacking in their bed?

Answer: Dane

It was 1988 when four missing Iron Hill children were found in the trees outside town. Mike's brother, Eddie, was the only one not found. As news broke on the television, 'Candle Cove' aired.
In the present day, Katie stays up late to watch 'Candle Cove' in her room. The puppets onscreen tell her that she has to 'go inside' and urge her to look under her bed. Jessica and Gary are soon awakened by screaming in their son Dane's room. There's been a horrible accident; Katie used a metal hook to stab Dane in his sleep.
From the hospital, Jessica calls Mike. She believes him. He needs to come back.
2. Mike decided to return to Iron Hills, staying at his mother's house.

Answer: True

Mike returns to his childhood home where Marla tells him that Katie wouldn't harm anyone. They both know that something has started again. The two of them vow to stop it.
At the hospital, Dane comes out of surgery while Katie ends up sedated and left in bed. Jessica tells Gary that she's called Mike back in to speak with their daughter. He is, after all, a child psychologist, and this is what he does for a living. Gary is apprehensive, but Jessica feels like Mike is their only real resource.
He arrives at the hospital to meet with Jessica and the two of them exchange commiserations before he heads down the hall. Along the way he spots a number of kids' drawings on the wall. One is that of a pirate ship, not unlike the one from 'Candle Cove'.
3. How many episodes of 'Candle Cove' did the local TV station have on hand?

Answer: None

Marla checks in with the local TV station to inquire about 'Candle Cove' and she, surprisingly, gets a bit of intriguing help from the man working there. He's as surprised as anyone else that the show is back on TV-- it certainly wasn't on his watch-- but he does have an old recording or two laying around.

When Marla watches it, however, it becomes apparent it's not the real thing. The man at the station admits it's a fan-fic of the 'Candle Cove' world, but it would've been impossible to record 'Candle Cove' back in the 1980s.

Not only was there a weird problem with the signal for it, but it was never on the same channel. Usually, kids would find it near the end of the dial on a dead channel; it was never on a network. It was a pirate signal for a pirate show.
4. When speaking to Katie in the hospital, Mike gave her a stuffed animal shaped like which of these?

Answer: Bird

At the hospital, Gary leaves the room to Mike and Katie who, laying in her bed, hasn't spoken to anyone else. She doesn't speak to Mike either...at least not until he shows her the picture from the call and asks her what happened when she saw 'Candle Cove'. She asks how long her jail time will be and he says she won't go behind bars because nothing was her fault.
Mike has trouble getting the truth out of her, especially when he starts seeing Eddie in her place in bed, but he's told that he's been to the cave as well, a long time ago, with a boy who was once underground but who has since been put there. Katie says that he has to go inside.
As Mike leaves, no one notices the creature enter the room on the cameras and whisper something in Katie's ear.
5. Mike has which of the following?

Answer: A daughter

Gary expresses his concern with leaving mike anywhere near Katie alone, but Mike is all about the mystery at hand, asking about any possible missing cases reports in the last little while. As he leaves, he notices some off things in the hospital, but keeps this to himself.
Officer Amy Welch arrives at an Iron Hill house to take a report for a robbery. A woman says that someone broke in, but only stole her mother's old jewellery box. While nothing really valuable was inside other than her son Alex's baby teeth, she figured it would be a good idea to make it known.
Mike ends up receiving a call from his daughter, Lily, who tells him about her day before staring into a dark room and urging him toward the fact that he 'needs to go inside'. Another concerning warning.
6. Marla, looking at Katie's picture, recognized that the train tracks led to which Iron Hill location?

Answer: A cement plant

Marla returns home to find the picture Mike found at the hospital and she recognizes the railroad track into the tunnel; it must be the cement plant up near the old rail yard. Mike and Eddie used to play up there all the time. Marla follows him out to the car. Perhaps, they think, the boy Katie saw before would still be up there.
On the walk, Mike asks how Marla does it-- he sees Eddie everywhere in Iron Hill-- but she says that going somewhere new wouldn't change what happened. She sent Mike away to protect him, but she always wondered if Eddie would return.
As they near the cement plant, a storm brews in the distance. Mike sees someone entering the building from afar. Marla wants to call Gary, but Mike presses onward alone.
7. Who found what appeared to be Eddie's missing body?

Answer: Mike

Mike continues to the empty cement plant alone and finds the person he's pursuing heading up the metal stairways to the roof. He follows along, ascending to the upper-most floor of the structure much like he used to when he and Eddie played in the abandoned facility. He heads through a broken-through wall, seeing the person he's following knowingly sink into the darkness beyond, and when he rounds the corner he sees something truly terrifying... it's a long-dead body of a child surrounded by lit candles.
The police are called in.
8. Police stated that, when found at the crime scene, the boy's corpse was displayed in which concerning state?

Answer: A religious way

The police arrive and secure the premises during the middle of the storm, some believing the body to be that of Mike's brother, Eddie. The biggest concern isn't so much that it solves their missing persons case, but that the body was preserved and presented in almost a religious or sacrificial manner.
Gary comes in to take Marla aside and encourage her to head home, but she's distraught and says she'll be unable to sleep anyways. Mike watches as the body is wheeled out.
At home, Marla remembers a night when she saw Eddie's hurt hand. She knew it was another kid who hurt Eddie, but there was nothing she could do about it at the time except encourage the boys to look out for one another. She cries, finally finding closure in her son's discovered body.
9. Mike admitted to having killed Eddie when they were kids.

Answer: True

While Marla weeps in the other room, Mike remembers a day many years ago when he, watching from the bushes, held a metal hook in his hand and looked on.
The next day he listens in as his mother speaks with a friend who lost her son, Jacob, back in the 1980s, and he remembers watching 'Candle Cove' alone. The memories run together. He dragged a body through the forest. He buried it. He ran. When Mike turns over in bed, he sees the hulking figure of the mustached pirate from 'Candle Cove', watching him from the corner.
That night, Mike comes downstairs to find his mother sitting at the table. He tells her that when the cops searched the woods, they never found anything, which is strange....because he killed Eddie and buried him in the woods. She attacks him with a knife, cutting his hand, and yells at him to get out of her house.
Something, elsewhere, adds teeth to a jar.
10. Who, as it seemed, was able to lure the tooth creature to them?

Answer: Jacob's mother

Jessica, still at the hospital, finishes reading a book to Katie before checking in on Dane.
Mike, walking through the forest, remembers the times he walked with Eddie before coming across his brother's figure between the trees. As he walks towards the figure, he plummets, finding that it was only a dream before being awakened by Gary knocking at his door. Marla told Gary the truth. Gary drives Mike to the station while Mike recalls his brother's dreams and aspirations-- Eddie wanted to be the mayor because that way both of them could do the job and switch places when no one was looking.. Mike, however, is surprised when Gary misses the turn toward the station and just keeps driving.
Elsewhere, Jacob's mother lures the creature made of teeth out of the woods. As she holds her hands out, it eats the teeth she has for it and she smiles lovingly.
