Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How did Archie mostly refer to Reverend Felcher in the series?

Answer: Reverend Fletcher

Whenever Archie mentioned Reverend Felcher, he would say "Reverend Fletcher" to which the person to whom he was speaking would reply "Felcher". Archie then always replied, "Whatever". He almost never got it right, even when he spoke to Reverend Felcher himself.
2. Archie ran to the hospital when he thought he was poisoned by which of the following food?

Answer: mushrooms

It turned out that Edith didn't buy the brand of mushrooms that were recalled (Poconos). Archie went to the hospital and received a shot for botulism (food poisoning) for nothing.
3. In a season four episode titled "Henry's Farewell", which of the following things happened for the first time?

Answer: Archie and George Jefferson met for the first time

The other three situations happened in the course of the series. In season 4, Edith slapped Archie for the first time after she learned that he had lied to her about betting on the horses. Mike and Gloria moved out of Archie's house and into the Jeffersons' old house in the beginning of season 6. Edith and Archie went to Disney World for the first time after Edith went through "the change" in season 2.
4. In "Everybody Tells the Truth", an episode in season 3, a repairman and his helper came to the Bunker household to fix what household item?

Answer: refrigerator

In this episode, Mike and Archie delivered their version of the evening's events. In the end, Edith delivered her version, which was taken as truth as Edith was always very truthful. It is shown that the truth lied somewhere between Mike's and Archie's versions.
5. Mike's college friend, David Brewster, stopped in for Christmas dinner in season 7. What fact about David did Mike and Gloria try to hide from Archie?

Answer: David was a draft dodger

Archie had his friend Pinky Peterson over for Christmas dinner. Pinky had lost his only son, Steve, in the war in Vietnam. When Archie learned that he was also sharing his dinner with David Brewster, a draft dodger, he hit the roof, stating that he would not share his Christmas dinner with a draft dodger.

It was Pinky's blessing that eventually led Archie to return to the dinner table.
6. When Archie got drunk in "Archie in the Cellar", what did he drink?

Answer: vodka

Archie locked himself in the basement by accident while the rest of the family were out of the house for the weekend. He spent time drinking vodka and recording his "last will and tentacle" (haha) until he was rescued by a black man that he mistook for God.
7. How was Maude related to Edith?

Answer: cousin

Maude, whom Archie despised, came to the house to help Edith care for Archie, Mike and Gloria when they were all sick with the flu. Maude then had to care for Edith when she became sick. By the end of the episode, Maude had come down with the flu as well.

The character of Maude was continued in a spin-off of "All in the Family" titled "Maude". It was the first of many shows that would spin-off from "All in the Family". Next came "The Jeffersons", which featured George, Louise, and Lionel Jefferson. The show ran for 11 seasons, passing "All in the Family" which ran for 9. "Archie Bunker's Place" is considered to be a spin-off although the show just basically continued "All in the Family". "Gloria" was about Gloria's new life after divorcing Michael and "704 Hauser Street" is about a new family in the Bunker's house. In addition to the many spin-offs of "All in the Family" there were two spin-offs FROM spinoffs of "All in the Family". "Good Times" was a spin-off of "Maude" and "Checking In" was a spin-off of "The Jeffersons".
8. In the original pilot episode, what was the last name of Archie and Edith?

Answer: Justice

The original pilot episode titled, "And Justice For All" featured a different family. Archie and Edith Justice had a daughter named Gloria, who was married to Richard, an Irishman. Gloria was played by Kelly Jean Peters and Richard was played by Tim McIntire.

The first episode of the series is titled "Meet the Bunkers". In this episode, Gloria, played by Sally Struthers, is married to Mike, played by Rob Reiner, who is Polish. This was the family America stayed with for 9 seasons.
9. According to the episodes in season 3 that flashed back to Gloria and Mike's wedding, who was the only relative of Mike's to attend the wedding?

Answer: Uncle Casimir

Archie and Uncle Casimir did not get off to a very good start. They took an immediate disliking to each other. Casimir hated Archie for being prejudiced against Polish people, and Archie hated Casimir for being Polish.
10. In season 1, Archie learned that his friend Steve was gay. What professional sport had Steve played for two seasons?

Answer: Football

Mike's friend Roger visited the Stivics in the Bunker home. He was very flamboyant and was pegged as a homosexual by Archie. Later in the episode, Mike learned that Archie's burly, athletic friend was the one who was gay. Mike told Archie, who thought the idea was ludicrous. When Archie told Steve, Steve confirmed that he was in fact gay.

10 cheers to the cast of "All in the Family" for this wonderful show.
