Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the sketch there are three people. The main officer has been portrayed by John Cleese, while Terry Jones takes the helm of Mr. Hilton. Who would play the ill-fated Superintendent/Constable Parrot?

Answer: Graham Chapman

The late Graham Chapman played the poor man, and his main role in the entire sketch is to look sick and run off to blow off chunks. In live versions, such as the recent 'Monty Python: Live, Mostly' special, Parrot was portrayed by Terry Gilliam.
2. The first chocolate that's listed in the sketch was the cherry fondue. Now, Mr. Hilton couldn't get prosecuted for it, but what description was given to the innocent-sounding chocolate by the officer?

Answer: This is extremely nasty

A simple interaction that will only lead to more outlandish concoctions as the sketch goes on. In comparison to the rest of the sketch, this is pretty tame.
3. Now to the title sweetie itself, crunchy frog. Now, we know it's dead, not cooked, and it's a baby. In the original sketch, it was "Dew picked and flown from ____, cleansed in the finest quality spring water, lightly killed and sealed in a succulent, Swiss, quintuple-smooth, treble-milk chocolate envelope, and lovingly frosted with glucose." Which country did the frog come from?

Answer: Iraq

At this point comes the sketch's iconic line of why didn't they take the bones out, 'If we took the bones out, it wouldn't be crunchy would it?'
4. Superintendent Parrot would begin the first of his many...runs with the stomach. As Mr. Hilton said that the chocolate clearly states the word 'frog', the Superintendent assumed it was a mock frog. But what sort of sweet treat did he assume the frog was?

Answer: Almond whirl

In the 'Live, Mostly' sketch, the first run of Superintendent Parrot was changed to an overly long bout of flatulence. Afterwards, Mr. Hilton would give a tirade that they use no artificial preservatives of any kind.
5. What did the officer-in-charge ask Mr. Hilton to replace the legend crunchy frog with?

Answer: Crunchy, raw unboned real dead frog

And that is just his first of such disgusting treats. The overall sketch is a lampooning of the Trade Descriptions Act 1968, an act where manufacturers must provide information on all products, or face prosecution for making false claims about what they are selling.

In this case, the officer claims that there isn't enough being done about the description that there is a frog within the chocolate as Superintendent Parrot demonstrated.
6. Next comes ram's bladder cup, made with a Cornish ram's bladder that has been emptied, steamed, flavored with sesame seeds and whipped into a fondue then garnished with which of the following?

Answer: Lark's vomit

A lark is a species of bird often found in parts of Australia, the Old World and one species in North America. Its known for its amazing songs and calls during mating season as the males try to attract the females, and feed on a diet of insects and seeds. I'm just not too sure if its vomit is prized in a chocolate though.
7. The officer would question Mr. Hilton about the whereabouts of mouse poo or lark's vomit on the box as he never saw it. But the slimy owner stated that the wretched ingredient is listed on the box next to which ingredient?

Answer: Monosodium glutamate

Despite saying he uses no artificial additives in his chocolates, there still is good old MSG in the mix. MSG is a flavor enhancer often used in canned foods, and within Chinese chefs, they like to call it their 'grandmaster' for flavor packing. But in my opinion, use it sparingly.
8. In the sketch, Mr. Hilton would frown in concern after the officer puts his claims that the box must have warnings of dead frogs and lark's vomit. What would Mr. Hilton be concerned with?

Answer: His sales would plummet

Even with selling wretched sweets, his mind is still set on making a profit. After the exchange, the officer would question why he wouldn't go into more conventional confectionery to make those sales, like praline or lime cream.
9. After the officer tries to knock sense into Mr. Hilton, he then proceeds to list out more oddities from the chocolate box. Two more were listed in the box as Parrot had to run off in disgust, they were cockroach cluster and anthrax ripple.

Answer: True

Mr. Hilton didn't give descriptions to either of these chocolates, but the names alone can only give a sense of horror as to what they contain. 'Cockroach Cluster' would be referenced in the 'Harry Potter' series, coming to life as a sweet treat for the children of Hogwarts, along with chocolate frog.
10. The final chocolate 'treat' is described as covered in 'Darkest creamy chocolate, when you pop it in your mouth, stainless steel bolts would spring out and plunge straight through both cheeks'. What's the name of this mini torture device?

Answer: Spring Surprise

There is no pleasure if you were to take a bite of this puppy. After one last tirade from the Officer, Mr. Hilton gets taken away to the station for his inadequate descriptions. At the end of it, Parrot would come to the camera and give a short speech on how the general public can be more careful buying sweets, which will help the people spend less time sitting in public lavatories in sickness.
