Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In which Las Vegas hotel was "Dealer's Choice" originally broadcast in 1974 before moving to Los Angeles?

Answer: Tropicana

"Dealer's Choice" began broadcasting on January 21, 1974 at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas. Bob Hastings was the original host but was replaced by Jack Clark after only a few weeks. Jane Nelson was the hostess and the announcer was Jim Thompson. The premise of the show was that contestants began with $100 in tokens to wager on a variety of casino games.

The show concluded with a chance for one of the contestants to play the last chance game. The show ran until December of the following year.
2. Bob Barker hosted "The Price is Right" from 1972 to 2007. Which show did Barker never host during his game show career?

Answer: Win Lose or Draw?

Bob's stint as the game show host for "Truth or Consequences" began in 1956. Earlier the same year he had been selected to host a Ralph Edwards show called "End of the Rainbow". Co-host Art Baker and Barker would go to various locations and help contestants who were not well off but still assisted others.

In 1967 Bob hosted "The Family Game", a format similar to "The Newlywed Game" that was created by Chuck Barris. The show only ran for six months. When Bob hosted the short-lived, "Simon Says", in 1971 he was paired with a computer.
3. "Truth or Consequences" has had four hosts in addition to Bob Barker from its 1950 transition from radio to television through the final season in 1988. Ralph Edwards was the original host and Jack Bailey hosted from 1954 to 1955 followed by Bob Barker between 1956 and 1975. Who hosted the show from 1975 to 1978?

Answer: Bob Hilton

In addition to hosting "Truth or Consequences" from 1975 to 1978, Bob Hilton also hosted "The Guinness Game" in 1979 and a revival of "Let's Make a Deal" in 1990. He has enjoyed a more prolific career as an announcer, being featured on ten shows including "Card Sharks", "The $25,000 Pyramid", "That's My Line" and "Body Language".

He was offered the announcing duties on "The Price Is Right" when the original host, Johnny Olsen, passed away but declined because he was under contract to host a show that eventually failed called "Bamboozle". Hilton also worked in radio stations in Honolulu, Los Angeles, Sacramento and Boston. Don Galloway replaced Hilton when he left "The Guinness Game". Jay Stewart hosted "Play the Percentages" in 1980. Dennis James hosted a nighttime version of "The Price is Right" as well as occasionally subbing for the regular hosts on the daytime show.
4. From 1961 to 1975 Alan Ludden hosted the original "Password". Which actress and celebrity contestant on the show did he marry in 1963?

5. In 1955 Dr. Joyce Brothers made it to the top slot on "The $64,000 Question". What category did she win with?

Answer: Boxing

While the "The $64,000 Question" became embroiled in the quiz show scandal, an investigation revealed that Dr. Joyce Brothers' win was legitimate. She won the game with the boxing category and the national exposure she received led to her a stint doing color commentary for a fight between Carmen Basilio and Sugar Ray Robinson.

She was the first female to have that honor. The sponsors of "The $64,000 Question" suggested the boxing category and after doing exhaustive research she credited her good memory with propelling her to the win. In 1958 she became a licensed psychologist and began doing a TV talk show in New York giving advice.

She later became a regular on the national talk show circuit and went on to guest star in numerous television series.
6. Who has not been a host host of "The $25,000 Pyramid" or any successive revised "Pyramid" show?

In 1957 Johnny Carson's variety show, "The Johnny Carson Show" was canceled so he assumed the role of the host of "Who Do You Trust?", a revised version of "Do You Trust Your Wife?", later the same year. His original announcer was Bill Nimmo. When Nimmo left he was replaced by Ed McMahon who worked with Johnny until 1992.
Bob Bergan hosted a version of "Jeopardy" for children called "Jep" beginning in 1998. Bud Collyer began his game show career in 1948 with "Winner Take All" and went on to host "Beat the Clock" and other shows. Bob Elliott hosted a show called "The Name's the Same" in 1955.

Comedian Allan Sherman was one of the creators of the show. Henry Morgan was a regular panelist on the original program. He joined Richard Dawson as a panelist on the revived version.
