Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In this early episode of the series, two crew members were being considered for one of the officer positions. One was a Maquis and the other had been with the federation for years. They did not get along and one of them punched the other in a fit of frustration. Who punched whom?

Answer: B'Elanna Torres punched Lt. Carey

Captain Janeway was hesitant to assign any more of the Maquis key officer positions and felt that Lt. Carey was the person for the job. Chakotay felt that B'Elanna should be given the chance due to her extensive engineering background and the fact that she had gone to Starfleet Academy for a few years.

After watching both B'Elanna and Lt. Carey in action, Captain Janeway felt that B'Elanna's ability to think on her feet and find unconventional solutions to problems would best suit the needs of the ship.
2. In this episode a crew member is at death's door on a dark planet. While the crew is trying to revive this person we see what is going on inside her consciousness. She is being told by her father that she is dead and that she must enter the light. In the meantime, she attends her own funeral and tries to contact some of the more psychic people on the ship. Who is this crew member?

Answer: Kathryn Janeway

As it turns out, while Janeway was on the verge of dying an alien presence entered her mind and attempted to lead her into a type of hell where the beings there would be able to feed on her soul forever. Luckily, her crew brought her back and saved her from this unwelcome fate.
3. In this episode a crew member finds himself stranded on a planet with three young children of an alien species. Much to his chagrin, the children begin to see him as a type of father figure. As the episode progresses, the children begin to disappear and he must solve the mystery of what is happening. Eventually, he discovers that they are considered old on their world and this is where the elderly come to die. Who is this crew member?

Answer: Tuvok

In the end it was discovered that the "children" were "disappearing" because they had died. This scared the remaining "child", and in a moment of rare tenderness, for Tuvok, he agreed to stay by her side until she too passed away.
4. In this episode a strange anomaly split Voyager into different ships with two different crews. At the moment of the split both ships and crews were exactly equal but as time progressed the fate of the two ships became radically different. One of the ships lost a crew member and a newborn baby. However, the other crew ended up getting destroyed. In order to balance the scales, the Voyager that was destroyed sent over the crew member and the baby that had died to the ship that survived. Who was the crew member who took the baby to the other Voyager?

Answer: Harry Kim

The ship that was being destroyed was being overrun by the Vidiians who were on board trying to harvest as many of the crew as they could. Harry had to fight his way through the chaos to make it to the other ship before Janeway engaged the self-destruct.

In the end, even though they were the exact same people, Harry felt slightly out of place because he knew that his "ship and crew" were gone.
5. This crew member falls in love with a Vidiian woman named Dr. Pel. A holographic matrix is created for her so that she can look like she did without the phage. She has trouble giving up this image of herself until the person who loves her convinces her that he doesn't care about how she looks as a hologram but how she is as a person. Which crew member falls in love with her?

Answer: The Doctor

This is not the only time we see Dr. Pel. In a later episode the Doctor enlists her aid to find a cure for a disease that both Janeway and Chakotay contract.
6. In this episode a crew member is possessed by the violent mind of a fallen warlord. This warlord, Tieran, has learned the secret of immortality by possessing the minds of beings he comes into contact with. Tieran and his comrades return to his home planet where they intend to take back the government. Thankfully, the Voyager crew is able to put a synaptic stimulator on this crew member which shakes Tieran's consciousness loose. Who was possessed by Tieran?

Answer: Kes

In the end, Tieran tried to save himself by possessing another body, but Kes was too quick and used the synaptic stimulator on the person he jumped into before Tieran had a firm hold and his consciousness was destroyed. This is also the episode where Kes and Neelix officially break up.
7. The crew of Voyager is under attack by unseen aliens. The crew has no idea they are being targeted as the aliens exist in a state slightly out of phase with their own. These aliens are conducting experiments on the crew that cause them great pain, age them prematurely, or in some cases even kill them. The Doctor is able to change the perceptions of one of the crew members so that he/she can see them. Which crew member is the first to see these barbarous hidden scientists?

Answer: Seven of Nine

Once Captain Janeway discovers what is happening she is furious. She now knows why she is so irritable and why her headaches have been so bad. She wants these aliens off her ship and threatens to destroy them by driving them straight towards two binary stars where the intense radiation will destroy them.

The aliens attempt to scramble off of the ship but at least one of their own ships is destroyed in the process. Voyager barely escapes intact.
8. In this episode, four of the crew members return from a 15 day away mission and begin to experience signs of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder despite the fact that they had not been involved in any war. They remember slaughtering 82 innocent villagers who were being evacuated from a village even though they know they couldn't have. One of the crew members gets so confused he takes over the mess hall firing at security trying to protect Naomi Wildman from being killed. Chakotay is able to convince him that what he is experiencing is not real but memories of a tragic occurrence. Which crew member took over the mess hall?

Answer: Neelix

The four most affected by this were Neelix, Harry, Tom, and Chakotay. They had been influenced by a memorial left by a race of people who were guilt ridden about what they had done over 300 years ago. This memorial would send out signals into space which would implant travelers with the memories of what happened long ago.
9. In this episode two of the crew members are sent to a space prison where they have to fight to survive. To make matters worse, each inmate in the prison has a microchip affixed to the brain which causes increased aggression. This causes many of the inmates to be extremely hostile. This chip almost leads to one of the crew members killing the other. Who were the two crew members thrown into this prison?

Answer: Harry Kim and Tom Paris

In a moving moment at the end of the episode Harry is guilt ridden over the fact that he nearly killed Tom. In order to ease Harry's guilt, Tom tells him this,"You want to know what I remember? Someone saying 'This man is my friend. Nobody touches him.' I'll remember that for a long time."
10. One of the crew writes a holonovel of Voyager's experience in the Delta Quadrant. However, he takes poetic license and tells a rather skewed story that makes him look more like a hero and the rest of the crew as prejudiced against him. Who wrote this holonovel?

Answer: The Doctor

The Doctor sent his holonovel to the Alpha Quadrant where it got published. However, many were not sure it was a work of fiction and started to wonder if the crew of Voyager were really as unpleasant as the novel made them out to be. The Doctor asked his publisher to pull the holonovel from the market but the publisher refused which led to a hearing on whether or not the Doctor had the right to control his own work.
