Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What song was playing during the opening scene of "The Spear"?

Answer: "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" by Brenda Lee

"Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" played as the viewers were treated to a winter scene of Christmas lights and a decorated tree - and then bits of clothes and china and blood - and then screams and more blood - and finally, a monster in a Santa hat snapping someone's neck as they stood under the mistletoe, and dropping the body down an elevator shaft. Yep, it was a "Supernatural" episode.
2. The Winchesters had a mole working for Michael in "The Spear." Who was the mole?

Answer: Garth

Michael, using a female vessel, recognized Garth as Dean's friend. Garth assured the Archangel that he needed to be on the winning side for his family. Later, he checked in with the Winchesters, trying to help them stop Michael from destroying their world.

Unfortunately, Garth was forced to drink blood mixed with Michael's grace in order to keep his cover, and that enabled Michael to spy on the Winchesters.
3. In "The Spear," what did Ketch do with the egg he got from a Hungarian rare weapons collector, which the Winchesters wanted to use against Michael?

Answer: Mailed it to the Winchesters

Ketch was outnumbered, so he needed to drop the egg "like a hot potato." The way he did that was mailing it to the brothers in Lebanon, Kansas. He proudly told them he paid extra, mailing it certified and priority. Unfortunately, Sam informed him it was to arrive too late to help the brothers in their fight with Michael.

Naturally, the brothers decided to grab it in transit. Michael intercepted them, though, destroying the egg and kidnapping Jack.
4. In "The Spear," what music played as Dean (carrying the spear), Sam, Castiel and Jack headed upstairs to confront Michael?

Answer: "Ode to Joy" by Lorne Balfe, Russell Emanuel and Steve Kofsky

Realizing Michael was expecting them, Sam said they were "walking right into a trap." Castiel added, "Which is set by a full-powered archangel." Dean replied, "Impossible odds. Feels like home. Let's do it." Then, in a tribute to "Die Hard," another Christmas movie with a lot of bloodshed, "Ode to Joy" played as they headed to meet Michael.
5. In "Nihilism," Michael had Dean locked away in his mind, living the same loop as a bar owner, who takes out vampires that attack him. What long-deceased character was there with Dean?

Answer: Pamela

Pamela Barnes was the psychic who helped the brothers during season 4, but was killed during "Death Takes a Holiday." She also appeared in season 5's "The Dark Side of the Moon," when the brothers met her in heaven.
6. In "Nihilism," what code word or phrase did Sam use to convince Dean that Michael was possessing him and he needed to thrust him out?

Answer: Poughkeepsie

"Poughkeepsie" was a secret code the brothers used, meaning "drop everything and run." When Crowley entered Sam's mind to convince him to thrust out a Gadreel in season 9, Dean told him to use that word. It worked. In "Nihilism," Sam and Castiel entered Dean's mind, and in a nice call back to season 9, it was again that word that helped a Winchester brother find his way back.
7. Sam, Dean and Castiel locked up Michael in "Nihilism." Where was the cage?

Answer: In Dean

Michael taunted the brothers and Castiel, saying, "Even if you could force me out, what do you think I'd leave behind? Hmm?" [Looking at Dean] "You'd be nothing but blood and bone." Dean responded to Sam and Castiel, "Then we don't kick him out. We keep him here." The three then trapped Michael in the storeroom of the bar inside Dean's mind, and Dean stated, "My mind, my rules. I got him! I'm the cage!"
8. At the end of "Nihilism," Death told Dean all but one of his deaths would be how?

Answer: Michael escaping and burning down the world

Billie (Death) told Dean that the shelves of different possible deaths were gone, leaving all except one: "With the archangel Michael escaping your mind, and using you as his vessel to burn down this world." The viewers did not get to see the one way Dean could die without burning down the world as Michael's vessel. Until the next episode.
9. In "Damaged Goods," Dean went to visit Donna. Over burgers, she told him she already knew what he was going through from Sam. Dean said, "What, does he got a _______ ?"

Answer: freaking newsletter

Sam worried when his brother decided to make a trip to see Donna and his mother - without Sam. And he worried more when Dean hugged him goodbye. As he told his mother, they hug - but when it is the "end of the world," not all the time.
10. What song played during "Damaged Goods" as Dean worked in Donna's barn to build a box to trap himself and Michael forever?

Answer: "No Time" by The Guess Who

The music was the perfect backdrop. As the lyrics listed all the things there was no time for, Dean prepared to lose all his tomorrows, giving up the rest of his life to save the world from the possibility of Michael getting free.
11. In "Damaged Goods," what reason did Dean give for leaving Sam out of his "farewell tour"?

Answer: Sam was the only one who could talk him out of it.

A hurt Sam, with tears in his eyes, said, "So you came out here, to see Donna, to see Mom, on some sick, secret farewell tour? You were going to leave. And you weren't even gonna tell me? Me? Do you realize how messed up that is? How unfair that is?" Dean replied, "I didn't have a choice! You are the last person I could tell, the last person I could be around, because you're the only one that could have talked me out of it! And I won't be talked out of it. I won't. I'm doing this. . ."
12. In "Prophet and Loss," What was the Prophet Tony Alvarez doing?

Answer: Murdering people

As Donatello lay between life and death, the next Prophet was activated, but he was malformed, thinking God was telling him to kill. He killed two people before Sam and Dean stopped him. Tony was then able to grab Dean's gun, and he killed himself.
13. In "Prophet and Loss," what did Nick encounter in his old house?

Answer: The ghost of his wife

Nick escaped from custody and broke into his old house. Sarah, the ghost of his wife, was still there. She was held there by the unfinished business of her and her baby's murders, and Nick choosing Lucifer. He told her he had killed the demon who killed her.

She told him that she knew he had chosen Lucifer, and she knew he still wanted Lucifer. She told him to reject Lucifer so she could find peace. He refused. He left to find Lucifer and Sarah was kept tied to the house as a ghost.
14. What did Sam do after he made a long speech, telling his brother that he believed in them in "Prophet and Loss"?

Answer: Punched Dean

Dean told his brother, "I got one card left to play, and I have to play it." Sam Responded, "You have one card today, but we'll find another tomorrow. If you quit on us today, there will be no tomorrow! You tell me you don't know what else to do. I don't know either, Dean, but what you are doing now - it's wrong! It's quitting! I mean, look what just happened. Donatello never quit fighting, so we could help him because he never gave up. I believe in us, Dean." He punched him in the face. "I believe in us! Why don't you believe in us, too?" He then went to punch him again, and Dean, instead, brought him in for a hug.
15. At the end of "Prophet and Loss," what promise did Castiel and Sam give to Dean?

Answer: They would lock him in the box with a Michael for eternity if necessary

Dean told his brother, "Okay, Sam. Let's go home. . . . Maybe Billie's wrong. Maybe. But I do believe in us." Castiel then joined the brothers, and Dean continued, addressing both Castiel and Sam, "I believe in all of us. And I'll keep believing until I can't. Until there's absolutely no other way.

But when that day comes, if that day comes, Sam, you have to take it for what it is - the end. And you have to promise me that you'll do then what you can't do now, and that's let me go, and put me in that box." [Looking at Castiel] "You too!"
