Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Teams flew to Vietnam in Leg 3, arriving to find their clues at a theatre for which of these?

Answer: Water puppets

Teams were returned to Seoul to commence Leg 3 of the race, heading from the Hantan Riverside in Cheorwan, back to the city streets. There, teams opened their clues to find that they would be flying to the capital city of Vietnam-- Hanoi. All teams took the same flight to Noi Bai Airport and this new destination and, upon arriving, were told to make their way by cab to the Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre.

There, they could sign up for one of three showtimes at the theatre, each ten minutes apart, where they could get their next clue.
2. Teams were able to take buses to which Vietnamese region in Leg 3?

Answer: Ninh Binh

After experiencing a Vietnamese water puppet show early in the morning, teams ripped open a new clue and were told to direct their gaze to the puppet show itself for their next destination, being able to use a local from outside if they needed help. Their clue was in the form of words around the puppets' necks-- 'BEN XE GIAP BAT', a bus station and the name of their next destination.

There, they could get their next clue and grab tickets on the next bus to Ninh Binh, two hours away, where they could choose a Detour task.
3. How many teams were U-Turned in Leg 3?

Answer: One

Arriving in Ninh Binh, teams could choose between 'Escargot' and 'Make Boat Go' for their Detour. In 'Escargot', teams could hop into the waters of the local rice paddy fields and harvest one hundred snails to collect their next clue. Alternatively, teams choosing 'Make Boat Go' had to paddle a boat across a river to collect their next clue, but to do that, they needed to paddle their boats with their feet. Following the Detour, teams raced to the docks at Tam Cốc and found a U-Turn board waiting, allowing one team to force another team to go back and complete the second side of the Detour. Jasmin and Jerome used it to U-Turn Sid and Ash.
4. In Leg 3, team members completing the Road Block had to eat which of these in searching for hidden coins?

Answer: Rice

At Tam Cốc, teams located the U-Turn board and their Road Block clue. For this task, they needed to choose the member who was 'feeling lucky', and that person had to travel to the Lăng Khanh Hostel and Restaurant and take a seat at the table. There, they had to choose from amongst three hundred banana-leaf-wrapped parcels of rice, searching for one of only nine containing a gold coin they could trade for their next clue.

The team member had to eat the contents before choosing their next parcel.

This task was finished by Mikayla, Tom, Viv, Jerome, Rod, Sid, Chris, Amani, and Femi.
5. Which team was last to arrive at the Pit Stop in Leg 3?

Answer: Rowah and Amani

Completing the Road Block, teams had to make their way by taxi and on foot to the race's third Pit Stop at Moc Hoa Vien at the base of Hang Múa, a mountain in Hoa Lư. Tom and Tyler blasted through the Road Block with Tom finding a coin on his first rice package, and it led the friends to claim their third win in a row, landing on the Pit Stop mat to snag a hat trick.

The end of the leg came down to a battle at the Road Block with teams continuing to search for ancient coins. It left Rowah and Amani at the bottom of the leaderboard and they were the last to check in at the Pit Stop. Fortunately for them, it was a non-elimination leg, and they were spared going into Leg 4.
6. Starting Leg 4 in Vietnam, teams had to collect bundles of which of these?

Answer: Incense

To start Leg 4, teams opened clues in front of the Reed Hotel in Ninh Binh and were told to head to the ancient citadel of Hoa Lư. Once there, teams needed to work to locate a giant stack of incense and then put together four bundles of them, each weighing two kilograms, before delivering the properly-collected bundles to the nearby Chùa Nhất Trụ Temple to get their next clue. Because they placed last in the previous leg of the race, Rowah and Amani needed to assemble an additional bundle for delivery before moving on.
7. Which team completed the Fast Forward task presented in Vietnam in Leg 4?

Answer: Jasmin and Jerome

After the incense task, teams had the opportunity, if they so chose, to pursue a Fast Forward, which is a task that allows one successful team to skip all other tasks in a leg of the race and proceed directly to the Pit Stop. In this leg, the Fast Forward required that teams load a bike with three hundred and twenty shrimp baskets and transport them down a road to a local fisherman to receive their reward.

The clue would be available until a team completed the challenge. It was claimed by Jasmin and Jerome.
8. More teams completed the 'Long Strides' Detour option in Vietnam (in Leg 4) over 'Short Strokes'.

Answer: False

Teams not heading to the Fast Forward option instead received a Detour clue asking for a choice between 'Short Strokes' and 'Long Strides'. In 'Short Strokes', teams had to paint traditional Full Moon Festival masks that their partners would be wearing based on provided examples while in 'Long Strides', teams had to perform a stilt walk along a marked circuit. Both Detour options proved exhausting and difficult and most ended up completing the time-consuming, less physical 'Short Strokes' option.
9. At Bái Đính Temple in Vietnam, teams had to search through statues of which deity?

Answer: Buddha

After the Detour, the teams proceeded to the largest Buddhist complex in Southeast Asia, the grounds of Bái Đính Temple. There, they needed to search through five hundred Buddha statues on the ground to find the name of the one (and only one!) with both feet resting on an animal-- Pháp Luận Sơn. Once this was found, they needed to head up tot he top of a bell tower on the grounds and communicate that name to a judge and ring the bell to get their next clue.
10. Which team was eliminated from the race in Vietnam (at the end of Leg 4)?

Answer: Rowah and Amani

After finding the correct Buddha, teams proceeded on foot to their next Pit Stop on the grounds of Bái Đính Temple-- the reflecting pool of Hồ Tiên. For the fourth time in a row, and in four legs, To, and Tyler stepped on the mat the Pit Stop in first place.

They were followed closely by Hayley and Mikayla and Sid and Ash. Jasmin and Jerome, who completed the Fast Forward in this leg of the race, placed fourth, pulling out from the back of the pack. The last team to arrive ended up being Rowah and Amani, who were unable to overcome their Speed Bump and make up time.

They were eliminated this time around.
