Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Teams commenced their race in Sydney, Australia.

Answer: False

To begin this race, eleven teams of two were flown from Australia to the start line in Seoul, South Korea. There, in front of Seoul City Hall in Seoul Plaza, they had to rush to their backpacks and open their first clue, directing them by taxi to the top of Seoul in the observatory of Namsan Tower. Once at the top, they had to search the city below for their next destination marked by red-and-yellow race flags.
2. In Leg 1 in Seoul, teams' first major landmark to visit was which of these towers?

Answer: Namsan Tower

The next destination of the race, seen from the top of Namsan Tower, would correspond to a postcard in the observatory gift shop which would give them an address to their next clue. Teams finding the correct postcard in the observatory could head onward to their destination, Namsangol Hanok Village, where they could find their next clue beneath the stone time capsule in the plaza there, hiding under a message from Australian politician John Fahey.

Here, teams collected their Road Block task.
3. How many teams were able to complete the Road Block in Leg 1 (in Seoul)?

Answer: Ten

For their first Road Block task of the race, reams were asked 'Who's ready for a river dance?'. This one required that teams choose one member and make their way to the Han River at Hangang Park. There, the selected member had to harness into a flyboard and reach a height of two meters above the surface of the water.

As soon as their line reached the proper height they could collect their next clue. Tyler, Joey, Mikayla, Jasmin, Tim, Nick, Rowah, Adrienne, Ash, Judy, and Alana went for this one.
4. In the 'Fold 'Em Fast' Detour task, teams did which of the following?

Answer: Made dumplings

After the Road Block, teams received their Detour task for the leg and it was a choice between 'Fold 'Em Fast' and 'Stack 'Em High'. In 'Fold 'Em Fast', teams headed to Gwangjang Market in Jongno District to locate a marked restaurant and fold dumplings. Once both team members could make fifty acceptable dumplings, they could get their next clue.

In 'Stack 'Em High', teams could instead participate in cup stacking at Hanyang University. If they could properly stack and then unstack their tower of twelve cups within eight seconds, they could continue racing.
5. Which team was eliminated at the end of the race's first leg in Seoul, South Korea?

Answer: Alana and Niko

Completing the Detour, teams were required to make their way to Seoullo 7017 Bridge for their first Pit Stop of the race where Beau would be waiting to eliminate the last team to arrive. Tom and Tyler, who led the entire leg, ended up landing on the mat first, stepping on the mat as night began to fall.

After driving hours out of the way on the back of the wrong postcard in Namsan Tower, Alana and Niko didn't make it to their Road Block task in time to complete it and they were sent directly to the Pit Stop to be eliminated in eleventh.
6. In the second leg of the race, teams had to count which of these before leaving Seoul?

Answer: Fountains

At the start of Leg 2, teams ripped open their clues at the Spring Sculpture in Cheonggye Plaza, Seoul to find instructions sending them to Seoul's Gwanghwamun Plaza where they needed to find the fountains. Upon arriving, they had to count the three hundred and sixty four waterspouts there and pass the number off to a judge to receive their next clue.

The total needed to include both active and inactive fountains to count.
7. Upon arriving at the fence of the Demilitarized Zone in South Korea, teams needed to write messages on which of these?

Answer: Ribbons

After counting fountains, teams needed to proceed by taxi to the Demilitarized Zone on the border of North and South Korea, ninety kilometres north of Seoul. Upon arriving, teams needed to reach the Prayer Fence next to the abandoned train line linking the two countries. Once there, the only way to receive their clue was by writing a message of hope on a prayer ribbon and placing it on the wall.

The next clue would be the Detour for this leg of the race.
8. During the 'All Heart' Detour task in Leg 2, teams did not need to tackle which of these?

Answer: Push-ups

Reaching the Demilitarized Zone, teams faced a Detour. Teams who opted into the 'All Thumbs' Detour option needed to complete a South Korean military bootcamp course at the Duroowell Bootcamp. This course, including a tire-carrying component, a high rope course, and a mud crawl with a weighted backpack, would end up being a highly demanding and brutally physical option if taken.

It was attempted by the most teams; Tom and Tyler, Hayley and Mikayla, Tim and Rod, Chris and Adrienne, Jasmin and Jerome, Femi and Nick, Rowah and Amani, and Sid and Ash completed it.
9. How many goals did teams need to score during their drone soccer practice in the 'All Thumbs' Detour option in Leg 2?

Answer: Two

If teams didn't want to complete the 'All Heart' Detour option, they could instead go for 'All Thumbs', which allowed them to head indoors to the Cheorwon Gymnasium to learn how to pilot a drone for a game of drone soccer. To complete the task, the teams had to fly their drones through the marked goals-- one goal per teammate-- to get their next clue. Viv and Joey and Judy and Therese were the only teams to take this one on.
10. Which team was eliminated at the end of Leg 2 in South Korea?

Answer: Judy and Therese

Completing their Detours, teams were told to take a whitewater rafting trip down the Hantan River from a point in Cheorwon, South Korea and locate Beau at their second Pit Stop at the thousand-year-old Goseokjeong Pavilion. Teams who arrived could disembark on the banks and then proceed on foot to step on the mat and find their placement.

Despite a last-minute rafting race, Tom and Tyler were the first team to land on the mat for a second time in a row, narrowly beating Viv and Joey. This time, the boys won a thousand dollars each from BankWest.

In a tight race to the finish on boat and on foot, Femi and Nick narrowly outran nuns Judy and Therese, saving themselves and sending the ladies home.
