Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first task of the competition working for Bally Total Fitness resulted in a win for Excel. Did their project manager, Markus, win an exemption?

Answer: No

Unlike in the previous two seasons, the winning project manager would need to receive a majority vote from their teammates to secure an exemption in the next task. For this first challenge, the organization and execution of a special fitness program for Bally Total Fitness locations in New York City, Markus led his team to victory but the other members of Excel felt he did not deserve the exemption.

In later tasks, other project managers did receive theirs. For this task, the men of Excel won by only $11. From the women's team, Capital Edge, Melissa was eliminated for her negativity.
2. In the second week, teams worked on ad campaigns for which car manufacturer?

Answer: Lamborghini

For their second challenge, the two teams were asked to meet with the marketing team of Lamborghini to create an upscale commercial and print campaign. The women of Capital Edge ended up making the right campaign, creating a series of ads directed at the emotions felt by Lamborghini owners and the passion for the brand. Excel failed to attract the executives with their ambiguous ads, some of which may have alienated certain demographics.

In the boardroom, Chris was fired for his poor leadership and his decision to bring only Markus back into the boardroom, a choice Trump said was a poor sign. For winning the task, the women of Capital Edge ended up taking a trip to play hockey with the New York Islanders. During this reward, Rebecca broke her ankle but chose to remain in the competition.
3. The fourth week of the competition forced teams to create new mascots for Dairy Queen. Excel created a genie while the women of Capital Edge created a creature known by what name?

Answer: Zippy

Both teams not only needed to create a mascot for Dairy Queen, but construct a mascot outfit to be worn by one of the candidates from each group. The men won with their costume, Ginny the Genie, which hit most of the target demographics and featured the DQ logo.

Their reward was a trip to the ballpark to play with the New York Mets; Clay received unanimous immunity. Excel, once again, lost the task by creating Zippy, a confusing character aimed at kids with virtually no visual ties to the brand.

When in front of Trump, Toral was fired without the need for a final boardroom because of her failure to step up to any task and for her excuses.
4. For their fifth week, teams worked with Sony Pictures to create a promotional float for what 2005 sci-fi movie?

Answer: Zathura

Beginning task five, Trump asked the women of Capital Edge to permanently add one of the men of Excel to their team; they chose Randal. Despite this, they lost the task, requiring that each team create a parade float promoting "Zathura", a film directed by Jon Favreau for Sony Pictures.

The guys, led by Brian (who won exemption), pulled off a float that got the name out to the audience while the women (led by Jennifer M.) made a lesser-quality product and, on many occasions, mispronounced the name of the movie.

In the boardroom Kristi was fired, making her the third consecutive non-project manager to go.
5. In week six, teams worked to promote different sports with Dick's Sporting Goods. Excel lost, but how many candidates were fired?

Answer: Four

In the largest firing in the show's history to date, Trump ousted four different people for their failure. For the task, the teams needed to market and promote different sports at Dick's Sporting Goods. Capital Edge won (their first task in four boardrooms, and partially because of a corporate reshuffling) and took a reward to Montauk-- Alla received exemption for her approach to golf promotion; they boosted sales by 74%. Excel lost while promoting baseball and four members of the group were fired because of their colossal loss (they actually went down in sales 34% over the previous year). Project manager Josh was let go for an inability to lead, Jennifer M. was fired for her sales problems throughout the task, James was fired for his decision to remove sales floor space for a batting cage, and Mark was let go for an inability to sell anything whatsoever.

This brought Excel to a meager three members versus Capital Edge's six.
6. The task for week seven involved promoting and teaching specific classes at the Learning Annex. Capital Edge lost, but what was the name of their class?

Answer: Sex in the Workplace

After the catastrophic loss in week six, Excel took Randal back to their team as the project manager and he led them to victory with their Learning Annex presentation for a class called 'Stand Out to Hit the Mark'. The team ended up winning a shopping spree at Michael Kors and he received a second exemption. Capital Edge ended up selecting a class called 'Sex in the Workplace' as their class but failed on many accounts, particularly in Clay's offensive comments during the presentation and Markus' lack of input.

In the boardroom, Markus was fired by Trump because of what seemed to be a lack of motivation over several tasks.
7. During week eight, teams worked to create a promotion for a DVD release at Best Buy. The promotion involved which of the following?

Answer: Star Wars

Moving into their eighth week of the competition, Trump informed the remaining candidates that they would need to create a promotional display for "Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith" and the "Star Wars: Battlefront II" video game release. Clay led Capital Edge to a win but failed to secure an exemption.

As a result he was fired in week nine. Excel took on a major failure, accidentally botching their display by omitting Darth Vader, arriving late for their meeting with the executives, and then being unorganized upon their arrival for the presentation.

Heading to the boardroom, Trump fired project manager Brian for missing the presentation time by half an hour and Marshawn for backing out of presenting the display altogether. He spared the already exempt Randal and Rebecca, leaving Excel with only two members.
8. For their tenth task, the teams needed to promote Shania Twain's newest fragrance. Who was the losing project manager for this task?

Answer: Alla

Although Alla lost this task as project manager, this was the first time in the show's history where Trump let the project manager off the hook. When her team, Capital Edge, failed to receive enough votes (they were only five short from winning the task) Trump felt that she was not responsible for the loss whatsoever and sent her back to the suite, leaving only Adam and Felisha.

The former was fired because of his inability to reason as to why he should remain in the game. This left only four candidates in the running for the apprenticeship.
9. Unlike in earlier seasons of the show, the final four were not subjected to interviews with high-ranking executives from other companies.

Answer: True

While normally the final three or four candidates would be forced to face off against the executives, the final task of the season (during week eleven) involved promoting Windows Live. Rebecca and Randal on Excel won the task (without the opportunity for exemption) while Felisha and Alla on Capital Edge went to the boardroom.

Despite their friendship, their arguments in front of Trump and their failure to create a good presentation during their task resulted in both of their being fired, reducing the field to only two and eliminating the need for interviews.
10. Which candidate became the winner of this fourth season of "The Apprentice"?

Answer: Randal

For their final task, both Randal and Rebecca took on previously-fired candidates and worked for charity. Randal worked with Outback Steakhouse and Autism Speaks to organize a celebrity charity softball game (which was rained out) and he earned $11,000. Josh, Mark, and Marshawn worked with him. Rebecca needed to work with Yahoo! (and Chris, James, and Toral) to create a comedy event for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.

After numerous issues, Rebecca failed to raise money. During the final live boardroom, Trump selected Randal to be the winner of this season though it was a close decision. Choosing between renovations on several Trump casinos in Atlantic City and the Jersey City Trump Tower, Randal chose the former as his reward.

He left the Trump Organization to go into politics after his one-year apprenticeship ended.
