Yoruichi is a shinigami; the former captain of the Second Division, a friend of shopeeker and fellow exile Kisuke Urahara, and one of Ichigo Kurosaki's allies. When she first appears, it's in the form of a black cat with a deep voice, and Ichigo gets a shock when the black cat turns into a beautiful woman! Yoruichi has superhuman speed and an ability known as Shunko, which involves her surrounding her body with electrical energy, and which she uses to overpower her successor, Suifeng.

She can also combine Shunko and her feline form to turn into a powerful cat-human hybrid.

She is later revealed to have a younger brother, Yushiro.

Kyo is a member of the Sohma family, who are cursed to turn into the animals of the Chinese Zodiac when hugged by a member of the opposite sex who is not under the curse. In Kyo's case, he turns into a ginger cat. The Cat is the animal who was left out of the Chinese Zodiac; according to the myth, the Rat tricked the Cat by pushing it off the Ox's back while they were crossing a river, and the Cat drowned. Similarly, Kyo is never able to beat Yuki Sohma, the Rat's counterpart.

He is rejected by others due to representing the Cat, but Tohru Honda, the heroine of 'Fruits Basket', falls in love with him because she loves cats, and because she wished that the Cat had been part of the Zodiac.

The two later have children together.

Schrödinger is a young catboy who works for the Nazi organisation Millennium, and is the embodiment of the Schrödinger's Cat experiment, claiming to be 'everywhere and nowhere'. As long as he is aware of his own existence, he is unkillable and can exist anywhere; Sir Integra Hellsing shoots him in the head, yet minutes later he's back at Millennium's base.

He also appears in Seras Victoria's subconscious to inform Zorin Blitz that Millennium will abandon her to die at Seras' hands. His ability turns out to be the key for getting Alucard out of the way. Schrödinger decapitates himself and falls into the mass of souls that Alucard is absorbing, meaning he is no longer aware of his own existence.

This causes Alucard to temporarily disappear, and he is only able to return after thirty years, after he has killed off every soul he absorbed (minus Schrödinger).

Tsubasa is a class representative who, like many other characters in the 'Monogatari' series, is possessed by an oddity; in her case, a demonic cat spirit known as the Sawarineko, or Meddlesome Cat. She is regularly abused by her parents and has an alternative personality known as Black Hanekawa, which gives her the ability to drain people's energy.

In this form, she has white hair, slitted pupils and white cat ears, and a much more abrasive personality. The Sawarineko causes Tsubasa to attack random people as a coping mechanism.

She is later possessed by a white tiger spirit which causes her to burn down houses after sleeping in them, and gets white stripes in her hair after absorbing the spirit.

Ferris - real name Felix - is an androgynous demi-human and knight who works for Crusch Karsten, a tough warrior woman who is one of the competitors for the throne of Lugunica. Like many other demi-humans, he has animal features - cat ears, fangs and a tail.

He is also a healer who uses water magic. Both Ferris' parents are human, and he was bullied for being a demi-human, with people believing one of his parents had an affair. (However, it is implied that he had demi-human ancestors.) During his childhood, his parents also rejected him and locked him in a cellar, where Crusch found him.

She took her home with him and took him on as an attendant. He initially dislikes Subaru, but grows to respect him when Subaru becomes braver.

Ikuto is the brother of the idol Utau Hoshina. An aloof teenage boy, he has been enlisted by the Easter organisation to find the Embryo, a magic wish-granting egg, but hates working for them and yearns to be free. He owns the Dumpty Key, a counterpart to the heroine Amu's Humpty Lock, which enables him to transform into Black Lynx, a catboy with clawed gloves and enhanced reflexes. Black Lynx represents his desire to be free like a cat, and his Guardian Character is Yoru, a little black catboy. He can also turn into Seven Seas Treasure, a pirate catboy, and is forcibly transformed into Death Rebel, representing the darkness in his heart.

However, Amu's love frees him and he later confesses his love for her.

Ichigo (known as Zoey Hanson in the English dub) is one of a group of girls infused with the DNA of a rare animal after an earthquake - in her case, the Iriomote mountain cat (with which fans of 'Azumanga Daioh' may be familiar). When she transforms, using her Mew Pendant, she turns into Mew Ichigo and gains pink cat ears and a pink tail with a bell on it.

She also has cat-like traits, such as sleeping a lot and always landing on her feet. If she gets excited or embarrassed, she turns into a black kitten and has to be kissed to turn human again.

She is in love with Masaya, who is also her mysterious protector, the Blue Knight and - to complicate things - Deep Blue, a misanthropic alien. When Masaya stabs himself to get rid of Deep Blue, Ichigo dies when she transfers her life energy into him. Masaya uses Mew Aqua, a type of magic water, to bring her back to life.

Otherwise known as Cure Macaron, the purple Pretty Cure of beauty and excitement. She is arrogant and selfish, easily bored and enjoys winding people up. She is also somewhat of a pessimist and gets annoyed when she has trouble making macarons. As Cure Macaron, she has cat ears and a tail and a macaron-shaped fascinator on her head, and can throw claw-like projectiles.

She later gains a crystal animal that can turn into a giant purple cat. She is very close to Cure Chocolat, a red dog-themed Pretty Cure. Cure Macaron is captured by enemies at one point and forced to face her own darkness in the form of her younger self, but manages to overcome it by admitting that she has to make her own happiness.

Neferpitou is one of the Chimera Ants, a group of monstrous humanoids with animal features, and is one of the Royal Guards to Meruem, the Chimera Ant King. They are a cat hybrid of indeterminate gender who can control people like puppets and heal wounds, and perform a lobotomy on one unlucky Hunter to find out about the nature of Nen, a type of magical energy, before said Hunter is chopped up into meatballs.

They kill Kite, Gon Freecss' mentor, and treat his body like a toy. In revenge, Gon hunts them down, turns into his adult form and kills them in revenge by punching their head to smithereens.

They come back as a zombie, but are destroyed again by Gon, this time for good.

'Dog Days' is set in a magical world where two nations are at war: the Republic of Biscotti, a nation of dog people, and the Galette Domain, a nation of cat people, of which Leonmitchelli Galette des Rois is the princess. She is a white-haired woman with cat ears and a white lion-like tail, and is a former friend of Millhiore, the ruler of Biscotti.

It is revealed that she waged war on the Republic of Biscotti to protect Millhiore, as she had heard a premonition that Millhiore would be killed by a demon within thirty days. Leonmitchelli has a younger brother, Gaul, who has the ability to turn into an adult with a Hero Stone.
