Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was Benjamin Sisko's favourite sport?

Answer: Baseball

For the duration of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine", Commander/Captain Sisko kept a baseball on his desk. At the end of season six, when he took a sabbatical on Earth, he took it with him, prompting Major Kira to query whether he would be coming back.

In the very first episode, Sisko also used the game of baseball to explain the concept of linear time to the Prophets.

Question by Daddy19.
2. What name for a type of starship can be found in both the Romulan and Klingon fleets?

Answer: Bird of Prey

The Romulan Bird of Prey starships were seen in both "Star Trek: Enterprise" and "Star Trek: The Original Series". Eventually the more commonly used starships became known as Warbirds.

The Klingon version of the Bird of Prey was first seen in "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock", but was used extensively since then in "TNG" and later movies, as well as the prequel series "Star Trek: Enterprise".

Question by reedy
3. Who was Balok?

Answer: an alien ship captain

Balok (Clint Howard) was commander of the "First Federation" vessel Fesarius, seen in the "TOS" episode "The Corbomite Maneuver." Captain Kirk used a bluff to convince Balok that the Enterprise had an undocumented substance called 'corbomite', which would cause fatal damage to any ship attacking the Enterprise.

Question by CmdrK
4. In the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "The Price", the Federation entered into negotiations to use what they believed to be a stable wormhole. The inhabitants of which planet were selling this opportunity?

Answer: Barzan II

Whilst they believed the Barzan wormhole was stable and led to the Gamma Quadrant, when Data and La Forge investigated it, they found that it was unstable and led to the Delta Quadrant. Unfortunately, the Ferengi scientists who were also investigating the wormhole, did not heed Data and La Forge's warnings and became trapped in the Delta Quadrant.

Boranis III is the planet where Doctor Julian Bashir found the Quickening virus. The Enterprise-D was sent to Bersallis III to protect the Federation colony there against a severe firestorm that was due. In an attempt to add Lt Commander Data to his collection, Kivas Fajo poisoned the water supply of Beta Agni II.

Question by Daddy19.

Answer: Battle Bridge

The Battle Bridge was seen in "Encounter at Farpoint", "The Arsenal of Freedom" and "The Best of Both Worlds Part II" and is located on deck 8.

The Banquet Room is located on deck 2 and Biohazard Containment Chamber is made up. Whilst there isn't a Botantical Gardens, there is an Arboretum. This was seen in more than three "Next Generation" episodes.

6. As a newly-promoted commander, on which of these ships did Kathryn Janeway serve?

Question by CmdrK
7. What prominent alien race was introduced to the "Star Trek" universe with "TNG" episode "Ensign Ro"?

Answer: Bajoran

Played by Michelle Forbes, Ensign Ro Laren became a recurring "Star Trek: The Next Generation" character. She first appeared in the fifth season of "TNG" (1991), two years prior to the premiere of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine", a series that would not have existed without the Bajoran people.

Question by reedy
8. In the "TOS" episode "Tomorrow Is Yesterday", what was the U.S. Air Force pilot's call sign?

Answer: Bluejay 4

The Enterprise accidentally traveled back to 1969 while trying to escape the gravitational effect of a black star. It was tracked by Air Force radar and considered a UFO. Fighter pilot Capt. John Christopher was sent in his F-104 to intercept it. His call sign was Bluejay 4. He was transported into the Enterprise and was eventually sent back in time before the incident so he wouldn't remember it.

Question by CmdrK
9. What was the name of the pilot episode of "Star Trek: Enterprise" that introduced Captain Archer and the Enterprise NX-01?

Answer: Broken Bow

"Broken Bow" aired September 26th, 2001, launching what would turn out to be four seasons of "Star Trek: Enterprise". In the "Star Trek" universe, it took place in the year 2151.

"Breaking the Ice" was the eighth episode from season one, "Bounty" came in at the end of the second season (episode 25), and "Borderland" was the fourth episode of the fourth season.

Question by reedy
10. In 2373, the USS Voyager had a visit from the 29th century Federation timeship Aeon. Who was its pilot?

Answer: Braxton

Capt. Braxton went back in time to destroy Voyager because of concerns that it would cause a temporal explosion in the 29th century, destroying Earth's solar system. In the episode "Future's End, Part I", the Aeon and Voyager were sent back to the 20th century. The Voyager crew found Braxton in 1996 in California, a homeless man who often muttered to himself.
