Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Golden Hippy

Answer: Paul

The Golden Hippy is the name given to Paul, or John Paul Getty III, by his kidnappers. They believe that they will make big money by kidnapping the grandson of one of the world's richest men. Unfortunately J. Paul Getty (brilliantly played by Donald Sutherland) is incredibly cheap and also at first does not believe that the kidnapping is real.

In the series, a teenage Paul does orchestrate his own kidnapping at first in order to get money to pay off debts he owes for drugs however he is transferred to a group of more violent and dangerous men who hold him.
2. Mom

Answer: Gail

Paul's mom Gail (played by Hilary Swank) is no longer married to his dad, John Paul Getty II and does not have access to the Getty money. She desperately tries to find her son and get his ransom paid and is really the only one who believes that his life is in danger. She is the also the only one who continues to push for his release.
3. The Cowboy

Answer: Chace

The character of Fletcher Chace (played by Brendan Fraser) is security and chief negotiator for J. Paul Getty. Chace is a cowboy through and through. He shows up in Rome, which is wear Paul was kidnapped from, in cowboy boots and a cowboy hat and a lot of questions as he investigates the disappearance.

He is also a conduit to the audience, talking directly to us as he navigates the events of the kidnapping.
4. The Lead Kidnapper

Answer: Primo

Primo ends up being the lead kidnapper of Paul after he kills the man that Paul originally made a deal with to "kidnap" him for money. Primo is ruthless but also has a code of honor. He kills members of his kidnapping gang if they reveal their names or faces and believes that the Getty money can put his small time criminal syndicate in a bigger league. Award-winning Italian actor Luca Marinelli plays Primo in the series.
5. The Translator

Answer: Angelo

Angelo is brought into the kidnapping of Paul as a translator as he learned English at school. As he converses with Paul he develops a friendship with him and at one point tries to help him escape. He and Paul are caught and Angelo is killed by Primo.
6. The Kidnapper's Negotiator

Answer: Fifty

Stefano, also known as "Fifty", is Primo's cousin and is brought in to be the negotiator. He is responsible for negotiating with Gail, meeting with her in a cinema (where he is always seated behind her and she does not see his face) or calling her with instructions. He is reluctant to participate but feels he does not have a choice and he is uncomfortable in his role.
7. The Butler

Answer: Bullimore

"Bullimore" is the name given by J. Paul Getty to all of his butlers as he doesn't take the time or make the effort to find out their actual names. "Bullimore" is actually an Eton-educated man named Jahangir Khan. He is taken for granted and never thanked for his service and finds small, secret ways to show his displeasure at living and working in the Getty household.
8. The Gardener

Answer: Dennis

Dennis is the lead gardener for J. Paul Getty when the show opens and is another hard-done by employee of the Getty household. He is chased and bitten by Getty's dogs, which he and his gaggle of girlfriends find quite amusing. He develops a friendship with Bullimore and there is a hint that the two of them are homosexual although nothing comes of that in the show. Dennis gives a list of flowers that are poisonous but not deadly to dogs to Jahangir which Jahangir uses to his benefit later in the series.
9. A J. Paul Getty's Girlfriend

Answer: Penelope

Penelope is one of J. Paul Getty's girlfriends. He keeps a number of women in the house with him and chooses each of them to have sex with, depending on his mood and the night. Penelope seems to be the one who has any kind of influence over him and one that he actually spends time with during the day.

She is also having an affair with a man she truly cares for and ends up leaving J. Paul Getty once she has helped to secure the safe return of young Paul.
10. John Paul Getty III's Girlfriend

Answer: Gisela

Young Paul has a young girlfriend in Rome, a twin named Gisela. She and her twin sister live in Rome with Paul and clearly enjoy a young and carefree lifestyle with him. They, like most other people, at first believe that he is heir to all the riches of his grandfather but he is not interested in the Getty money.

There is some doubt as to Gisela's intentions concerning Paul but she is there when he is freed from his ordeal and agrees to marry him.
