Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This "Twilight" film series star appeared in July and played a new game called "Jello Shot Twister".

Answer: Kristen Stewart

Kristen was in New York to see Jimmy and promote her new film "Cafe Society", which co-starred Jesse Eisenberg. The game was played much like traditional "Twister", and Steve Higgins spun the board that decided which body part went on which color. It quickly became difficult for them to take their Jello shots because their hands were supposed to be down. Whoever was first to fall down would lose the game, and Jimmy fell down first.

Musician Shawn Mendes was also on that night, July 11th, and had just graduated high school on June 18, 2016. Kristen appeared as Bella in the "Twilight" series of films.
2. Rio Olympics opening night, this star of "Sausage Party" battled Jimmy in a lip sync contest.

Answer: Seth Rogen

August 5, 2016 was the night of the opening ceremonies of the Rio Summer Olympic games, which postponed "The Tonight Show" by almost two hours. Jimmy's guests were Jerry Seinfeld, Seth Rogen, and musician Jason Derulo. After the interview about Seth's R-rated animated film "Sausage Party", Jimmy and Seth contested in another of Jimmy's now famous celebrity lip sync battles. Jim lost out to Seth in the battle, and Seth actually used The Roots to do a live version of a song off of one of their albums from 1995. Jimmy did not know beforehand that his own band would be used against him.

Seth Rogen is also one of the executive producers of the AMC series "Preacher".
3. In August, Jimmy debuted this new game, which he played with USA Olympic gold medalist gymnasts.

Answer: Hungry Hungry Humans

It was a take off of "Hungry Hungry Hippos", and played in the same fashion. Four teams of two would vie for a load of balls dropped into the center of the hippo eating ring. One team member would push the other out to capture as many balls as possible. At the end of round one, team members would switch position. The 2016 Women's USA Gymnastics team, which won a team gold medal, appeared for the game. Jimmy was paired with Simone Biles, Aly Raisman and Laurie Hernandez were paired, Gabby Douglas and Madison Kocian were paired, and lastly actor Donald Glover was paired with Roots' band member Tariq. Aly and Laurie won the game by one ball, 30-29, beating out teammates Gabby and Madison. Jimmy and Simone came in third.

This was on the August 23 airing, and also featured guest Dolly Parton.
4. Olympic medalist Michael Phelps lost this game to Jimmy in September.

Answer: Egg Russian Roulette

Michael came on to talk about his experience in the 2016 Summer Olympic Games held in Rio. He also talked about plans to retire from competitive swimming, marry his fiancee, and help teach kids about safety while swimming. He played one of Jimmy's more often seen games, "Egg Russian Roulette". He picked first, and then Jimmy. Both of Michael's eggs were raw, so he lost he game. He did not get as much raw egg on him as I have seen in past guests. He was smart enough to lean forward, crack the egg on his forehead, and let it plop to the floor.

Also on the show that night was Harry Connick, Jr. talking about his upcoming daytime talk show. And, musical guest Zara Larsson performed. This was September 1, 2016. Michael did eventually confirm his retirement in November.
5. The kids who starred on this much loved Netflix series came on the show and played a silly string game. One of the kids rapped lyrics to the Kanye West song "Monster".

Answer: Stranger Things

"Stranger Things" had not only garnered much love from the regular viewing audiences, but many celebrities expressed how much they also loved the series. It's about middle school aged kids in a small town, set in 1983, where one goes missing and another has special powers. Four of the stars of the show came on to talk about the series, which was renewed for a second season by that time, and to play a new game called "Stranger Strings". They'd each read off of a card, and then guessed who the fact was about. Jimmy got a lot of silly string in his face, and the girl who played Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) rapped Nicki Minaj's verse from the song "Monster" by Kanye West.

Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, and Gaten Matarazzo were the other three stars of the show who appeared with Millie Bobby Brown. This was on August 31, and David Spade also appeared that night to promote the Labor Day roast of Rob Lowe on Comedy Central.
6. On September 20th, Jimmy had this Democratic Presidential nominee on to talk about the upcoming election.

Answer: Hillary Clinton

Hillary appeared on the show alongside actor Terry Crews and musician Ariana Grande. Jimmy wore a surgical mask to joke about the recently overblown media attention on Hillary's bought with pneumonia. He also joked about throwing Trump "softballs" during his appearance on the show, because he'd caught internet criticism for taking it too easy on Donald.
7. This Republican Presidential nominee dropped by on September 15th to talk about "making America great again".

Answer: Donald Trump

"Make America Great Again" had been Donald Trump's bottom line during his bid to become the Republican nominee. It had been a little less touted after he won the nomination. Jimmy discussed the change in the timber of Donald's voice from speaking so loudly and so often during his campaign. Trump sort of jokingly admitted he felt safer eating fast food (which is more or less auto prepared by strangers), as the chance of it being tampered with was not as likely. At the end of the interview, Jimmy mussed up Trump's famous comb-over, and treated Trump like a harmless house pet. This caused internet buzz, because Jimmy challenged Trump on none of the dangerous dialogue he'd used during his campaign. Comedian Norm MacDonald and singer Kiiara appeared on the same show.

Trump officially won the 2016 US Presidential Election in the wee hours of the morning on November 9, 2016. After which, Green Party candidate Jill Stein challenged the ballots cast in a couple of states, and a few members of the Electoral College stepped down to avoid casting a vote for Trump.
8. In November, this star of "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them" played a game of "Know It All" with Jimmy and actress Lily Collins.

Answer: Eddie Redmayne

The film was in the Potterverse and written by J.K. Rowling. Eddie had won both an Oscar and a Golden Globe since his last appearance with Jimmy, and he'd become a husband and father. Lily Collins was on to promote both her book "Unfiltered", and her upcoming movie with Warren Beatty called "Rules Don't Apply".

In the game they played, 20 seconds were allowed to name as many items in a specific category, and to stop the clock after each answer. Lily picked 'Harry Potter Characters' and won that round. Eddie picked 'Pop Singers', and Lily won that round as well. Lily told the story of how she'd known Eddie for about ten years, back when her mother was taking photos of him in their backyard. Lily's parents are photographer Jill Tavelman and singer Phil Collins.
9. In November, actress Alexis Bledel appeared to promote the Netflix reboot of this show, also her former TV series. Jimmy wanted NO spoilers!

Answer: Gilmore Girls

Jimmy had been talking for weeks about how he'd been watching the first run of "Gilmore Girls" on Netflix. He'd started a couple of years earlier, he said, and would watch it in bed before he went to sleep. Well, Netflix created an original series titled "Gilmore Girls A Year in the Life", but Jimmy was two seasons behind, and wanted no spoilers on what happened in the reboot. Alexis played Rory, and Lauren Graham played her mother Lorelai. Prior to Alexis' visit on his show, Jimmy had some of his favorite "GG" actors appear to promote their appearances in the new series. Scott Patterson, Liza Weil, and Sean Gunn came on at the same time and talked all things Luke, Paris, and Kirk. Liza Weil, at the time of this taping, had also appeared in three seasons of "How To Get Away With Murder".
10. In December, this lady came on to promote her Netflix series and played "Charades" with Jimmy, John Legend, and Chrissy Teigen.

Answer: Chelsea Handler

Chelsea was in New York and appeared on "The Tonight Show" to promote her Netflix series "Chelsea", which had been picked up for a second season. "Chelsea" streamed 2-3 days each week, with location shoots all over the world and in her own backyard. John was on to promote his film "La La Land" and his latest album, so he and his wife Chrissy Teigen paired up against Chelsea and Jimmy in "Charades".

The couple beat Jimmy and Chelsea. Musician Chuck Leavell sat in with The Roots as well.
