Roman Brady was one of the first major soap opera recasts in daytime history, though it turned out not to be a recast in the grand scheme of things when Wayne Northrop reprised the role, and it was said that Drake Hogestyn's character John Black was only brainwashed into believing he was Roman. "Dynasty" actually broke ground by setting the recast standard several years earlier when actor Jack Coleman took over the role of Steven Carrington.
