Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Furious Fire (8-1) is the first level of the game to feature which of the following?

Answer: Lava

Sure enough, such a common platforming staple (oh humble lava) makes its first appearance as you near the summit of the volcano. In this level, the Kongs make their first descent into the steaming pits en route to the final boss in the crater. This level also features large, floating fireballs which make a circuit around the area, collapsible platforms, and bouncing fireball enemies (on top of your typical menagerie of foes).
2. What is the name of level 8-2, completed almost entirely on a rocket barrel?

Answer: Hot Rocket

One of the final rocket barrel levels of the game, Hot Rocket brings the Kongs through the most dangerous environment yet. Instead of taking a route steering clear of narrow passages or lava, they instead opt to make their way through a quickly crumbling volcanic passage. Rock plates crash apart and together while, soon, snakes of fire begin circling in the path ahead. Towards the very end, a wave of lava trails from behind.

It's a rough trail, but apparently it needs to be taken.
3. Roasting Rails (8-3) requires a key from Cranky's Shop to be accessed.

Answer: False

Nope! This level is part of the normal course of things, and if you're a mine cart fan, it's your last opportunity to ride the rails. In this level, the Kongs rest on top of the carts and not in them, meaning they can jump independently of their rides.

This is a benefit, mainly because the lava bursts and rising/lowering track fragments can cause issues. On top of this, you'll need to fling yourself to turf above the lava...as it crumbles away. Nothing is easy at this point; you just have to face that.
4. Smokey Peak (8-4) is the final level to feature which of these?

Answer: Rambi

Smokey Peak, only accessible using Cranky's Key (and the last of its kind in that regard) is the third and final level of the game to be played in silhouette; Donkey Kong and Diddy are unrecognizable outside their shadows and accessories. A third 'last' for the levels, this is the final opportunity to play on Rambi; he's required for the entirety of the level to destroy poorly-constructed brick walls and hit large switches.

Unfortunately, the level is also rife with lava-spewing points which will cause instant death.
5. In Bobbing Basalt (8-5), the basalt columns have a tendency to do which of these?

Answer: Sink into lava

Bobbing Basalt continues the Kongs' trek through the Volcano by exposing them to new types of platforms: the basalt columns. These platforms tend to be less resilient than regular rock as, whenever the Kongs jump onto them, they sink into the lava (hence the bobbing, though there's no real 'bobbing up' to it).

The level also contains a great deal of squashing columns of all sorts and fire dropping from the ceiling.
6. What is the name of level 8-6, the only one of these choices to be found in the Volcano stage?

Answer: Moving Melters

This stage is almost entirely fire. As you make your way closer to the center of the crater, you'll need to spend some time getting across almost unbeatable expanses of molten rock. How? Well, sometimes the answer will drop from the sky...or emerge from the lava. If the latter occurs, watch out-- the lava super-heats the rock and requires a bit of cooling down before you can use it.

Perilous Passage and Weighty Way are in the Cliff area while Treacherous Track is in the Factory area.
7. The final platforming level of the Volcano, Red Red Rising, ends outside the volcano itself.

Answer: False

Red Red Rising is the last stand as it would seem. After several sinking basalt columns and collapsing rock paths, Donkey Kong and Diddy will get into a race to the finish as the lava levels rise. This will force them to climb a narrow, collapsing tunnel upward as everything breaks apart and disappears into the juice below.

The level will also be the only one in which timed platforms shoot upward out of the lava...before falling back in within moments.
8. The Five Monkey Trial (8-K) awards the Kongs what colour of Rare Orb upon completion?

Answer: Red

In this final Kong Temple level, accessible only if you collect the K-O-N-G Letters from every level of the Volcano, Donkey Kong and Diddy need to face off against the toughest temple gauntlet yet. Here, they need to shoot further and further back through the temple completing round after round of unique challenges, most involving jumping and dodging, on their way to the end. Considering the construction of the level, it makes sense to get every item, including puzzle pieces, en route to the red orb at the end.
9. The game's final boss, Tiki Tong, has which of the following at his disposal during the last battle?

Answer: Hands

After heading up to the top of the volcano, you'll end up facing off against the game's final boss, Tiki Tong, whose musical underlings have been causing all of the problems on the island. Here, he'll end up using his hands and head to cause problems for the Kongs in the arena, but some will-timed dodges and jumps will ultimately result in his defeat...because somehow DK can use the moon to destroy him when the time is right. Completing the Tiki Tong Terror (8-B) level will conclude the adventure portion of the game.
10. Okay-- you've gotten all of the Rare Orbs in the game. What final level opens up for you?

Answer: Golden Temple

The Golden Temple is the last level of the game, and after the Kongs have collected all eight Rare Orbs it will open automatically. This level takes the Kongs into the sky to a mystical world populated by fruit platforms of all sorts. At the very end of the temple, they'll be able to indulge a bit in some glowing bananas; doing so actually unlocks a mirror mode for the game, so your adventures may not be quite over.
