Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Also known as the Admiral, what hero uses a Ghost Ship as his ultimate in battle?

Answer: Kunkka

Kunkka, a strength hero who uses his cutlass to strike down foes, is notably adept at controlling waves and water to male himself of use in battle. Besides being able to usher up torrents of water to send enemies high into the air, his ultimate attack is a Ghostship which can deal significant damage and cause stuns to enemies.

His sword, known as 'Tidebringer', gives him a strong connection to another hero known for its water proficiency-- Tidehunter-- and while the two aren't explicitly linked, it's implied by fans that they're frenemies.
2. Mana Break and Mana Void could only be techniques used by what agility-based hero known for being the sole survivor of a massacre?

Answer: Anti-Mage

One of the hardest carries in the game, Anti-Mage is a favourite of players who, with the right amount of dedication, wish to steamroll their late-game opponents. Using Mana Break and Mana Void (the latter being his ultimate attack), 'AM' is able to remove the mana from other heroes' bars, rendering them just a bit less useful in battle, and with the proper purchases, he can become nearly unstoppable as a carry hero in the late-game.

This makes him a particularly important target in his earlier, formative laning stage; anyone taking their eyes off an AM could be as good as dead. Based on his backstory, he's anti-magic because his monastery was wiped out by a legion of undead crusaders.
3. What hero, known for having 'backwards wings' for many years, also secretes a Nethertoxin?

Answer: Viper

Viper, one of the more basic heroes in terms of techniques, bases all of his attacks on range and poison. Despite his main attack and his ultimate both using different types of poisons to fire at foes though, he's also a hearty tank if built up in that way, utilizing a Nethertoxin to damage anyone who attacks him and, additionally, reduce their magic resistance. Viper is a unique character for a couple reasons, firstly for being a former pet of Pugna and secondly for being biologically unsound. For many years, the character model for Viper featured wings that functioned backwards.

It wasn't until 2017 that he had a remodel that fixed his impossible wings. That said, we're still not completely sure how he wears boots, seeing as netherdrakes don't have feet.
4. Yurnero, a sword-wielder, won the 2016 Arcana vote. By what name is he known in-game?

Answer: Juggenaut

At the annual International event hosted by Dota, voters find out which of the heroes they've selected (of tens of millions of votes) to receive an Immortal Arcana-- a remodel and bonus set-- and it ended up being Juggernaut in 2016 (though Zeus, Pudge, and Phantom Assassin have also won in other years). Juggernaut, an agility hero wielding blades, uses quick slashes to bring down foes, upgrading his blades with most of his techniques in order to maximize damage in a death of a thousand cuts. He also has a defensive ability in his Healing Ward, which tends to be a cosmetic fixture for players.
5. Rylai, known for her universal mana regeneration, is which of these four heroes?

Answer: Crystal Maiden

Crystal Maiden is one of the hardest support roles in the game (not by difficulty necessarily, but because she leans so heavily into it). With her Arcane Aura mana regen, freezing spells, and explosive, slowing ultimate technique, she proves to be useful, especially when played in a stealthier role; a Crystal Maiden using a Glimmer Cape, for instance, can wreak havoc. That said, Rylai (Lina's younger sister), is also a very delicate hero.

Her penchant for being Intelligence-based, coupled with her negative base armor in the early game, make her one of the easiest to damage. throughout each stage of the battle, especially if playing a hard 5 position.
6. A rare instance in which an Intelligence-based hero is a bit of a hefty, hard-hitter, which of this characters utilizes a Fireblast?

Answer: Ogre Magi

The Fireblast attack in Ogre Magi's arsenal is particularly interesting for a few reasons, first of which being that his Ultimate technique, Multicast, means that he has the potential of using it multiple times in a single cast, damaging foes with successive shots. Secondly, if Ogre Magi possesses an Aghanim's Scepter, he also attains the ability to fire an Unrefined Fireblast which, when used, will always use 60% of Ogre Magi's mana, so even if he has a sliver of mana at any given time, it's usable, and with Multicast, that power increases exponentially. Ogre Magi also has two heads which, while occasionally combative with each other, do some pretty powerful stuff when they put their heads together.
7. Rot. Dismemberment. Hooking. All of these are important things to note with what hero, consistently a top pick for players internationally?

Answer: Pudge

Although many are critical of Pudge's abilities in combat (and moreso the lack of ability of its players), this hero is very frequently picked in public battle, partly because his Meat Hook technique allows him to shoot in any direction and grab enemies, even if those enemies can't see him on the map, and certain items can actually increase its length and reduce its mana cost to be more of a pest in a fight. Additionally, with every hero killed by Pudge in battle, his defense and resistances only increase (with his Flesh Heap ability) making him a very testy tank in any lane.
8. What hero can use a Nimbus to attack foes from anywhere on the map?

Answer: Zeus

Zeus tends to be a bit of a powerhouse if built up properly, partly because his universal ultimate attack, Thundergod's Wrath, creates a shocking lightning bolt for every enemy hero on the map, regardless of if they're in sight or not, and with a well-timed Refresher Orb, this could wipe out foes entirely. Alternatively, Zeus uses Lightning Bolts and Arc Lightning to zap foes and, with an Aghanim's Scepter, can create shocking nimbus clouds which can electrocute anyone within their radius. Zeus is a very heavy-handed Intelligence hero.
9. Charging across the battlefield to bash an enemy isn't out of the realm of possibility for which hero, also known as Barathrum?

Answer: Spirit Breaker

Spirit Breaker is the type of Strength-based hero who can more than certainly hold his own against foes in the early laning phase, but his role as an initiator, especially if he manages to build himself up quickly, is significant due to his Charge of Darkness technique, allowing him to charge to any enemy unit visible on the map provided he travels in a straight line. With this and a powerful Greater Bash ability, it makes 'SB' a strong and, occasionally, detrimental hero on the battlefield. Due to his ability to speed up through the realms, he's also able to hasten the speed of other nearby units.
10. The Rupture technique causes enemies to take damage with movement. Who uses this attack in battle?

Answer: Bloodseeker

Agility hero Strygwyr, better known in-game as Bloodseeker, is a speedy character with a thirst for the life-force running through all heroes, and it's using his unquenchable thirst that he's able to power himself up to go in for the kill. Between raging and rites, he can perform crowd control while empowering himself for physical attacks, and his Rupture ultimate can be a real pain since, when used, it forces an enemy hero to stay still or, else, diminish their own damage.

While the ultimate can be countered with an item like Blade Mail, it does require the extra defense to be able to beat it.
