Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. There are four 'knights' in the "Defense of the Ancients" roster. Which is the only one of them to fight under the banner of the Scourge?

Answer: the Chaos Knight

"Defense of the Ancients" lines a roster of heroes belonging to one of two factions: the Sentinel and the Scourge. Each hero has a dominant attribute (either Strength, Agility or Intelligence), which defines its evolution during the game as well as the item build and playing strategy. Nessaj (the Chaos Knight), Davion (the Dragon Knight) and Sven (the Rogue Knight) are all Strength heroes, while Chen (the Holy Knight) is an Intelligence hero.
2. The "Defense of the Ancients" roster contains three Tauren heroes. Which is odd one out?

Answer: the Magnataur

The Tauren race was introduced in "Warcraft III". All the three Taurens in "Defense of the Ancients" - Barathrum (the Spiritbreaker), Raigor Stonehoof (the Earthshaker) and the more recently added Cairne Bloodhoof (the Tauren Chieftain) - are powerful Strength heroes.

The same thing can be said about Magnus (the Magnataur), which, despite his name, is not a Tauren, but rather a centaur-like creature.
3. Which of the following ranged heroes is also a hero in "Warcraft II"?

Answer: Alleria, the Windrunner

Alleria was a playable Ranger hero in the "Beyond the Dark Portal" Alliance campaign of "Warcraft II". The "Defense of the Ancients" hero with the same name pays homage to the original hero, as it is also a very mobile ranged Agility hero with the same female Elf physical appearance.

The same character also borrows its name to one of the towns in "World of Warcraft" - the Allerian Stronghold.
4. There are a lot of undead heroes among the "Defense of the Ancients" Scourge ranks. Which one of the following is not one of them?

Answer: the Warlock

As the term of Scourge coined in "Warcraft III" refers to a type of undead creatures, the Scourge ranks of "Defense of the Ancients" are also filled with undead heroes. These include Intelligence heroes Kel'Thuzad (the Lich), Rotond'jere (the Necrolyte) and Pugna (the Oblivion); Strength heroes N'aix (the Lifestealer), Abaddon (the Lord of Avernus), Pudge (the Buthcer) and King Leoric (the Skeleton King); and Agility hero Clinkz (the Bone Fletcher).
5. A hero with a slick ultimate ability, he is the only Satyr hero from the "Defense of the Ancients" roster. Who is it?

Answer: Rikimaru, the Stealth Assasin

Though the Satyrs of the "Warcraft" universe are depicted as a race of corrupted and vile creatures, Rikimaru (the Stealth Assassin), the Satyr Agility hero of "Defense of the Ancients", belongs to the Sentinel roster. Rikimaru is one of the heroes that can achieve invisibility through a skill. Unlike all the others though, Rikimaru's invisibility is not time limited, map terrain dependent or movement restricted.
6. Trolls... how many of their kind are among the ranks of the "Defense of the Ancients" roster?

Answer: Five

Trolls have been an integral part of the "Warcraft" universe ever since "Warcraft II". The Trolls of "Defense of the Ancients" are: Agility hero Jah'rakal (the Troll Warlord), Strength hero Huskar (the Sacred Warrior) and Intelligence heroes Rhasta (the Shadow Shaman), Vol'jin (the Witch Doctor) and Dazzle (the Shadow Priest).
7. Which character from the "Diablo" series was imported in "Defense of the Ancients" as a Scourge hero?

Answer: King Leoric, the Skeleton King

King Leoric, later known as the Skeleton King, was a key figure in the storyline of the "Diablo" series. He featured as a boss character in the original "Diablo" installment. After defeating him, he dropped an item with life-stealing properties, a feature also incorporated in the "Defense of the Ancients" Strength hero King Leoric.
8. There are a number of "Defense of the Ancients" heroes that have the physical appearance of arthropod creatures. Which group does not have a representative though?

Answer: lobsters

Strength hero Crixalis (the Sand King) is a scorpion look-alike. Agility hero Black Arachnia (the Broodmother) is a giant spider. Agility heroes Anub'seran (the Nerubian Weaver) and Anub'arak (the Nerubian Assassin) have the appearance of an ant-like creature and respectively a beetle-like creature. From the viewpoint of the "Warcraft" universe, they are all exponents of the so called Nerubian race.
9. There are two heroes in the "Defense of the Ancients" roster that draw their roots from Greek mythology. One of them is Zeus, the Lord of Olympia. Which is the other?

Answer: Medusa, the Gorgon

The two heroes also have the features of the mythical characters they borrow their name from. Zeus (Lord of Olympia) is an Intelligence hero who is the master of lightning, like the supreme Olympian god. Medusa (the Gorgon) is an Agility hero whose ultimate skill is called Stone Gaze, described as turning enemy units to stone, exactly like the mythological creature.
10. Which is the only hero in the "Defense of the Ancients" roster that hasn't got an 'official biography', but a self describing poem instead?

Answer: Leshrac, the Tormented Soul

Each "Defense of the Ancients" hero is associated with a series of information: the initial values of their three attributes and their growth rate, the name of its four skills, its attack range and its movement speed. Additionally, they all have mini biographies, which generally present an overview of their origins, allegiances and special powers, adding an extra flavor to the game.
