Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the underground mine are two prison cells, each with locks next to them in such a way that makes the locks practically side-by-side. Which one of the locks will your first Prison Cell Key work on, and will it release Tricky who was somehow captured in the blizzard?

Answer: Right side, and yes

Once you rescue Tricky from his cell with the silver Prison Cell Key, you'll be able to use his Flame command to melt some ice blocking the way to the gold Prison Cell Key. When you release him, you're able to talk to him. He says: "Fox, I lost you in the blizzard. Some SharpClaw found me, and threw me in that stinky cell!"
2. Once you obtain and use the second Prison Cell Key, you can talk to the occupant of the other cell. Will talking to him/her result in a cutscene?

Answer: Yes

Since the other Prison Cell Key (the gold one) releases Belina Te, the Gatekeeper's daughter, it's only logical that a full-length cutscene would pop up when you talk to her. She makes a path seemingly to the bottom of the underground mine, but it is sealed off as soon as she goes through. You have to find another path to follow her down there.
3. After releasing Belina Te and Tricky, you'll then have to use Find Secret on some snow in the wall to get to your next destination, an icy cave with only one enemy in it. What kind of enemy is this?

Answer: Snaplak

Snaplaks are those things roughly Fox's size that pop out of the ground and try to bite you. Snipluks are like Snaplaks, only smaller and fire green energy balls. At this point in the game, SharpClaw are very common.
4. To get through the icy cave, you'll need to use two things. Which of these is one of the two?

Answer: Fire Blaster

The Fire Blaster is used to knock some icicles off the ceiling to use as platforms to get to a Lever Switch that lets some little icebergs drift over the river, fall off the waterfall and into the lake. The other thing you use, the Rocket Boost (Staff Booster), is used to get to the river so you can hop from iceberg to iceberg and reach a block you can push into the water to give you the boost you need to climb out of the cave.
5. Before meeting up with Belina Te again, you'll have had a sample of the underground mine's features. Which of these will you have run into?

Answer: Some more conveyer belts

There are somewhere around ten conveyer belts there in all with flamethrowers on them and solid ground between them. You need to be careful about what you're doing here because you can make a mistake easily.
6. After meeting up with Belina Te again, you'll be able to enter the largest room in the underground mine. How many of those annoying red fungi are there in said room?

Answer: Nine

They're mostly found near walls, and are sometimes guarding goodies like Staff Energy Gems, PukPuk Eggs and Dumbledang Pods. If you come across one that is guarding something, you're likely to find another one or two there as well, making it that much harder to grab the items without getting a faceful of spores. To get the thing you're after without winding up losing some health, you can hit the fungi to stun them for a brief moment, or block the spores by holding down R. With Auto Lock-On in effect, it's just a simple blocking move, but without it in effect, it puts up a handy, inpenetrable blue force field that protects you for as long as you like. You can't move or do anything when you have the force field up, but it's a small price to pay for a defence against those wretched spores.
7. The first thing you need to do in the room at the bottom of the underground mine is carry a Fuel Barrel up a ramp. While you do this, does the game play different music?

Answer: Yes

The music changes from a serious-sounding type to a more frantic type once you pick up that Fuel Barrel. As you know, you're then to carry it up the ramp, which just so happens to have explosives rolling down that miraculously don't fall off the edges. You'll need to stay on your toes to avoid them all while going up, and the music tells you that. Once you get past the ramp, the music goes back to normal.
8. Once you blow up the wall with a crack in it on the fourth "floor" of the bottom of the underground mine with the Fuel Barrel, a small room is revealed. Which of these will you find in this room?

Answer: Lever Switch

The switch puts up a bridge that leads to a path with another Lever Switch somewhere along it. This also puts up a bridge, leading to a ladder.
9. How many things act as switches at the bottom of the underground mine?

Answer: Five

These are the five switches:
1. A Lever Switch that activates something to help you carry your Fuel Barrel to the cracked wall.
2. Another Lever Switch that puts up the first bridge.
3. Yet another Lever Switch that puts up the other bridge.
4 and 5. Shoot these with the cannon at the highest point possible.
10. What is the last thing you need to do in DarkIce Mines before you go after the boss?

Answer: Shoot some switch-like things with a cannon

The top of the ladder leading to the highest point in this room is where you find the cannon. The cannon is used to shoot a couple of switch thingies. Once you shoot both of them, the path leading to the boss would have completely risen from the lava, giving you access to some PukPuk Eggs and the Warp Pad leading to the boss's room.
11. Now, let's confront the boss of DarkIce Mines. What is his name?

Answer: Galdon

It's mentioned twice, but you may need the second mentioning to make the first mentioning make some decent sense. Catch both of them, and the boss's name should be glaringly obvious. The first mentioning occurs when you speak to a SnowHorn in the first snowy area, the one just after the volcano.

He says "If you are heading to the bottom of the mine, then beware the Galdon" or something along those lines. The second mentioning is when you enter the boss chamber itself. Usually when you enter a new area, the name of it appears onscreen. If you enter a boss chamber, when the text appears onscreen, it depicts the name of the boss.

In this case it says "Boss Galdon".
12. Hang on, something's wrong with the boss of DarkIce Mines. Which of these is the boss encased in?

Answer: Ice

Just in case you have somehow totally run out of Blue GrubTubs and Tricky's little guage is completely empty, there are three Blue GrubTubs right in front of Galdon you can feed to Tricky, which allows you to use the Flame command to get rid of the ice, discover that Galdon has the SpellStone for the people who pay little attention and start the battle. You can only use Flame on Galdon's left leg for some reason, though.
13. To get through the first phase of the DarkIce Mines boss battle, which part of the boss's body must you hit three times?

Answer: Tail

You start out the battle in front of Galdon, so some people may not see his glowing red tail. You can either stay where you are and rely on your Auto Lock-On to hit his tail with the Fire Blaster or you can go around behind him and hit him either with the Fire Blaster or a normal staff slap (or whatever you want to call it) from there. Hit him three times and you're into the second phase of this boss battle.

In the second phase, when Galdon swallows you, just keep hitting the thing with the SpellStone in it until he brings you up again.
14. Once you clear the first two phases of DarkIce Mines's boss battle, which part of the boss's body holds the weak point?

Answer: Chest

You'll need to wait a bit before you can get to it though. Just keep your Auto Lock-On up and keep holding down R until a part of Galdon's chest opens up, then let go of R and use your Fire Blaster. With Auto Lock-On, it'll swerve around and then hit its mark.

The catch is, as soon as you do this, the weak point closes, so you'll have to wait for it to open again. Hit it three times, and you're into the fourth and final phase. Galdon swallows you again, and you just repeat what you did for the second phase.

There goes the boss, and you get your first SpellStone. :)
15. Once you defeat the boss of DarkIce, you find yourself next to your Arwing with more than just the SpellStone. What have you just obtained (besides the SpellStone, of course)?

Answer: An extra health unit

The extra health unit is one of the many "The Legend of Zelda" references in this game. The difference between the extra health unit thingy in this game and the "Zelda" games is that "Star Fox Adventures" automatically gives you the health unit and "Zelda" has an item called a Heart Container appear and you can choose to pick it up or not.

In case you were wondering, there's no way to be able to carry more Bomb Spores or Fireflies.
