Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Geography: Many of the main-game regions are similar to areas of what Asian country?

Answer: Japan

Each region (Kanto, Johto, Sinnoh, Hoenn) represents different parts of Japan. The only exceptions is Unova, which is said to represent Manhattan.
2. Home Economics: What item, which was essential to Pokemon Contests, debuted in "Ruby and Sapphire"?

Answer: Pokeblock

Pokeblocks, first appearing in "Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire", were essential to one's performance in a Pokemon Super Contest. The Sinnoh-version of Pokeblocks were Poffins.
3. Math: As of Generation IV, how many Pokemon were there in the world?

Answer: 493

As of "Pokemon Platinum", 493 Pokemon could be acquired in the Pokedex. This is aside from the 386 found in Generation III, 251 in Generation II, and the original 151 in Generation I.
4. Physical Education: The Pokeathlon made its debut in which two games?

Answer: "Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver"

The Pokeathlon's only appearance was in "Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver". This was used to represent the Olympics, with its different events.
5. Science: If you give Pikachu a Carbos, what will happen?

Answer: Pikachu's speed will rise

The effect of a Carbos would be an increase in its Speed stat, either by 10 (in Generations III, and IV) or 2560 (in Generations I and II). The maximum Speed stat is 100 (in Gens. III and IV) or 25600 (in Gens. III and IV). The Carbos will not raise the speed any higher if it is at 100 (Gens. III and IV) or 25600 (Gens. III and IV).
6. Social Studies: Wallace is a Gym Leader in which game?

Answer: "Pokemon Ruby"

If you were playing "Pokemon Ruby" or "Pokemon Sapphire", Wallace would be the Gym Leader of Sootopolis City's Gym. However in "Pokemon Emerald", this title is given to Juan, while Wallace is the League Champion.
7. History: In the Pokedex, what was the earliest starter Pokemon to be dual-type?

Answer: Bulbasaur

Bulbasaur, being in Pokedex #1 and being a Grass/Poison type, is the first dual-type Pokemon encountered in the game. The other two Kanto starters are single-type Pokemon.
8. Geography: It's 8:30 AM (in-game) and your character is at the Celadon Department Store. What game are you playing?

Answer: "Pokemon Silver"

The internal clock function made its debut appearance in Generation II ("Pokemon Gold and Silver"), hence the morning, afternoon, and night appearances. Since then, Generation II and Generation IV games have had the internal clock function.
9. Math: In the game series, how many badges can be collected in ALL main series Pokemon games (up to "Platinum")?

Answer: Thirty-two

Each region has eight badges, Multiply by four (four regions) and you get thirty-two.
10. The Arts: The male hero of Generation II's remakes' official name is which of these?

Answer: Ethan

The male player in Generation II had no official name, so the unofficial name Gold was used. For "Pokemon HeartGold" and "SoulSilver", his official name was now Ethan.
