Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many badges can you obtain in "Pokemon Gold and Silver"?

Answer: Sixteen

After you obtain all the Johto Badges and beat the elite four, you can travel to Kanto to challenge the Kanto gym leaders.

You can get a maximum of eight badges in a "Pokemon" game, except for "Pokemon Gold and Silver" in which you can get sixteen badges: the Johto badges, and the Kanto badges.
2. Which Johto gym leader gives you HM07 (Waterfall) in "Pokemon Diamond", "Pokemon Pearl", and "Pokemon Platinum"?

Answer: Jasmine

Jasmine is standing on the beach in Sunyshore City; if you interact with her, she will give you HM07, which is Waterfall, and with this move, you can climb up waterfalls.

Chuck, Falkner, and Whitney do not appear in these games. They are in "Pokemon Gold and Silver".
3. What is the official name of the male trainer in "Pokemon HeartGold" and "SoulSilver"?

Answer: Ethan

In the original games, "Pokemon Gold and Silver", the character's unofficial name was Gold. The character didn't have an official name.

In "Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver", the male character's name was changed to Ethan, and the female character was replaced with a completely new character called Lyra.
4. What region features the "Legendary Birds"?

Answer: Kanto

The "Legendary Birds" are a trio of Legendary Pokemon that can be found in the Kanto region. They consist of Zapdos, Moltres, and Articuno.

After beating the Elite Four and completing the Pokedex in "Pokemon Platinum", the Legendary Birds roam around in Sinnoh. You have to use the Marking Map in order to find them.
5. How many gyms are in the Kanto region?

Answer: Nine

There is a Fighting Dojo beside Saffron Gym in Saffron City. If you beat the final Black Belt trainer, he won't give you a badge. Instead, he will give you a choice of choosing between Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee, two fighting type Pokemon. The Fighting Dojo used to be Saffron City's official gym before Sabrina's gym replaced it.

In "Pokemon Gold and Silver", the Fighting Master can be found at Mt. Mortar.
6. What are the remakes of "Pokemon Red and Blue" called?

Answer: "Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen"

The games are remakes of "Pokemon Red and Blue" but the names of the remakes are "Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen". The games have improved graphics, and introduced Islands 1-7.

The games are part of the third generation of "Pokemon".
7. In "Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver", what item lets you listen to the original Game Boy music of the games?

Answer: GB Sounds

By using the item, every town or place you visit will be in the original 8bit music from "Pokemon Gold and Silver" for the Game Boy color.

This is the only "Pokemon" game to that point with such an item.
8. What is a Shiny Pokemon?

Answer: A Pokemon that is a different color

Shiny Pokemon were introduced in "Pokemon Gold and Silver" and they have remained in the games ever since.

There is a 1/8192 chance of getting a Shiny Pokemon.

Some Pokemon cannot be shiny due to the game's code. The Manaphy Egg, obtained from "Pokemon Ranger", can not be shiny.
9. At what level does your Pokemon stop earning XP?

Answer: 100

A Pokemon can only reach up to Level 100. When a Pokemon is level 100, the Pokemon will stop earning XP. If you try to feed it a Rare Candy, the Pokemon will refuse to eat it.

There is a glitch in "Pokemon Red and Blue" that causes a Pokemon to be level 123.
10. Who is the first Gym Leader you must beat in "Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire"?

Answer: Roxanne

Here is the list of Gym Leaders from "Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire" (in order):

Roxanne, Brawly, Wattson, Flannery, Norman, Winona, Tate and Liza, and Wallace. (In "Pokemon Emerald", Wallace became the champion and a new character, Juan, replaced him).

Roxanne is the only female Gym Leader to train Rock-type Pokemon.
