Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "Pokemon Emerald", there is a place you can only go from a Wi-Fi Event where you can find the legendary Pokemon Deoxys. What is that place called?

Answer: Birth Island

If you have downloaded the Aurora Ticket from the event you could travel from Lilycove City to Aurora Island. Here you had to solve the triangle puzzle and then confront Deoxys.
2. A battle between an Empoleon and a Shedinja takes place while the Hail Weather is occurring. Shedinja knows the moves Confuse Ray, Sand Attack, Mind Reader and Shadow Ball. Empoleon uses Surf on Shedinja and attacks first, does Shedinja die in this round?

Answer: Yes

Most of you know that Shedinja's ability is Wonder Guard, which will prevent damage unless the move is super effective against Shedinja. Surf isn't super effective against Shedinja so it doesn't damage it, unfortunately Shedinja can only have 1 HP and since it will be buffeted by Hail it will automatically die. This can be prevented though if Shedinja knows Sunny Day to stop the Hail.
3. A battle between a level 100 Tyranitar and a level 100 Blissey has begun. Tyranitar is holding the item Leftovers and knows the attack Crunch, Tyranitar has an HP of 300. Blissey knows the attack Seismic Toss and doesn't know any stat moves (such as Thunder Wave or Softboiled). Blissey is also faster than Tyranitar. Tyranitar only needs three Crunches to defeat Blissey. If Blissey keeps using the move Seismic Toss and Tyranitar keeps using the move Crunch, will Blissey win against Tyranitar? (NOTE: Remember that Blissey is FASTER than Tyranitar in this round.)

Answer: No

Blissey normally only needs to use Seismic Toss three times to take out that Tyranitar. Seismic Toss is a move that will cause damage exactly the same as the user's level, at this case it will cause 100 damage. But since Tyranitar is holding the Leftovers, even if a minimum amount of HP is restored, Blissey will need to use Seismic Toss four times to beat Tyranitar. By that time Tyranitar will use Crunch three times and take out Blissey. Seismic Toss is a move suited for Blissey, since Blissey's attack is low and Seismic Toss does the exact same damage as the level, it's best suited for Blissey. Also moves like Thunder Wave and Toxic suite Blissey well and of course Softboiled to restore HP.
4. A battle between a Tyranitar and an Electrivire is occuring. Electrivire's attacks are Magnet Rise, Thunder Punch, Cross Chop and Ice Punch. Tyranitar uses Earthquake on Electrivire. Can Electrivire prevent getting damaged from Earthquake without harming Tyranitar (given, of course, that Electrivire is faster than Tyranitar)?

Answer: Yes

Of course it can prevent getting damaged from Earthquake if it uses Magnet Rise. Magnet Rise changes the ability to Levitate, which means it won't be affected by Ground moves. This is especially helpful for a pure Electric type because the only type of move that can super effect is a Ground move.
5. Poyrgon-Z uses Hyper Beam in battle, will Hyper Beam have a power of 160 when it's used by Porygon-Z?

Answer: No

Hyper Beam's power is normally 150, but in this case it's power goes to 225 due to same type attack bonus. When a Pokemon of uses an attack same as it's type, the attack has more power as a bonus. For example if Charizard uses Heat Wave, Heat Wave's power will be 150 instead of 100.
6. A one on one battle between a level 35 Rattata with the moves Endeavor and Quick Attack (holding a Focus Sash) and a level 100 Blastoise with the moves Hydro Pump, Blizzard, Surf and Earthquake (holding a Splash Plate). Can Rattata win the battle?

Answer: Yes

Yes, Rattata does win the battle, it's pretty simple really. Blastoise uses any of it's moves on Rattata, leaving it with only 1 HP because of Focus Sash, at the same round Rattata used Endeavor which leaves the opponent's HP equal to the user's HP, which means Blastoise is left with 1 HP as well. Finally Rattata uses Quick Attack to land an attack first and beat Blastoise.
7. In the "Red/Blue/Yellow" versions, you can perform a glitch to find the legendary glitch Pokemon called MissingNo. This glitch Pokemon when caught can multiply the items which are located in which slot in your Bag?

Answer: 6th

It's true that MissingNO will multiply the items in your sixth slot of the Bag when caught. People use this mainly to clone Master Balls and Rare Candies. To get MissingNo is quite simple, first you need to go to Viridian City and talk to the old man who shows you how to capture Pokemon. Say that you're not in a hurry and he'll show you himself catching a Weedle.

After that go to Cinnabar Island and surf up and down at the east coast. You will find Pokemon that are not usually found in that area like Oddish. You will also find MissingNO, which looks like a messed up stack of blocks. Capture it at your own risk though, MissingNO can glitch up your game completely and you may have to start a new game, usually the level 0 MissingNo is the most dangerous.
8. In the "Gold/Silver/Crystal" versions, what is higher level Pokemon of the final boss of the game?

Answer: Pikachu

The final boss of the game is a Pokemon Trainer named Red (NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH ASH). All of Red's Pokemon are over level 70 so be prepared, Pikachu is his Pokemon with the highest level being level 81. Like I said before, don't confuse Red with Ash. Red appeared in the first Pokemon versions entitled "Red" and "Blue", there is where Red is originated from, he is the main character. You can say that they took the idea from Red to make Ash. Red is also the main character at the "FireRed/LeafGreen" versions and also a main character in the manga (comic), in the "Red/Green/Blue" and "FireRed/LeafGreen" volumes.
9. In Pokemon "Emerald" in order to capture Registeel inside the Ancient Tomb there is a TM/HM you need to have (given that you have already unlocked the Regis from the Sealed Chamber). That TM/HM is which of these?

Answer: Flash

Registeel is located at the Ancient Tomb in Pokemon "Emerald". First you need to unlock the Regis by going to the Sealed Chamber from the currents west to Pacifidlog Town. You will definitely need a Pokemon with the TM Dig along with a Relicanth and Wailord. Once you have reached the chamber you need to Dive up and reach the cave.

At the first wall you have to use Dig and it will collapse. Now you find a bigger hall, what you need to do now is put Wailord at the top of your party and Relicanth at the last. Now press "A" on the wall and you will hear an Earthquake and three "clicks", now the Regis have been unlocked. You need Flash to get Registeel because when you go to the Ancient Tomb you need to use Flash in the middle of the cave to open the door and find Registeel. To find Regirock you need to go to the Desert Ruins and go in front of the big wall, then take two steps down and two steps left, then use Rock Smash to open the wall and find Regirock. Finally the most difficult to catch, Regice. To catch it you need to first press "A" on the wall north, then run a clockwise lap of the cave while sticking to the wall but NOT touching it, if you do it correctly and run a whole lap then the door should open and you will find Regice.
10. A Kyogre enters the battle against an Empoleon. At the first round Kyogre uses Thunder, can we be a 100% sure that Thunder will hit Empoleon if Kyogre attacks first?

Answer: Yes

Thunder's accuracy normally is 70%, so we can't be sure that it will hit the target. However Kyogre's ability is Drizzle, which makes the weather rainy every time Kyogre enters the battlefield. Thunder's accuracy becomes 100% when it's raining so we can be sure that Thunder will hit the target.

When it's Sunny, Thunder's accuracy goes to 50%. A similar example is Blizzard, its accuracy goes from 70% to 100% when it's hailing.
11. In order to evolve Porygon2 into Porygon-Z, you need to have the item Up-Grade.

Answer: False

The Up-Grade is needed to evolve Porygon into Porygon2 when it's traded. In order to evolve Porygon2 into Porygon-Z you need to have it hold the Dubious Disk and trade it. This is similar to Electabuzz holding the Electrizer to evolve into Electrivire, Magmar holding the Magmarizer to evolve into Magmotar and Rhydon holding the Protector to evolve into Rhyperior.
12. In the "Gold/Silver/Crystal" versions in order to perform the Celebi Glitch you must have a Pokemon that knows a certain move as its third move, that move is called Bounce.

Answer: False

The required move needed to perform this glitch is not Bounce, it's Beat Up. Beat Up is in the same HEX slot as Celebi, which is the reason the glitch ends up into a Celebi. The most common Pokemon used for the glitch is Sneasel, because it learns Beat Up at level 57.

This glitch can also be used to make any other Pokemon, for example if you perform this glitch with the move Splash you will end up with a Mewtwo or Acid Armor with a Mew.
13. A little known glitch in the "Diamond/Pearl" versions will cause the game when the player talks to the shopkeeper and selects "Buy", there will be no names or descriptions in the items in stock. To perform this glitch the player must use an item in a Poke-Mart, the item is Honey.

Answer: True

It's true, using Honey in a Poke-Mart will cause all of the names and descriptions of the items in stock disappear. This can also be done by using Sweet Scent in a Poke-Mart. It's not really a helpful glitch like the Mew and Celebi glitches but it's still funny.
14. Speaking about Glitches again, this glitch occurs in "Pokemon Platinum". When a switched Pokemon is knocked out by a certain move during the effects of Hail or Sandstorm, it will cause a glitch and all weather effects (Rain, Sunlight, Sandstorm and Hail) will occur. That move is Bite.

Answer: False

A glitch discovered in "Platinum" was called the Acid Rain Glitch. Like I said, this glitch will cause all four weather effects occur in the battlefield. Performing the glitch is simple but difficult to do unless you're playing with a friend. For the glitch to happen a Pokemon needs to use Pursuit on a switched Pokemon and beat it while the effects of Hail or Sandstorm are occurring.
15. The move Curse works the same way with all types.

Answer: False

A mysterious move indeed, when Curse is used by any other type rather than a Ghost type, it raises Attack and Defense. When used by a Ghost type it causes the user to lose 50% of its maximum HP and inflicts a curse on the opponent that will lose 25% of its maximum HP on each turn. People (including me) have also been wondering why this move's type remains unknown. If you look at the description of the move, when it says Type instead of a type it has three question marks (???).
