Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Tentacool is to Tentacruel as Numel is to which Pokémon?

Answer: Camerupt

Tentacool evolves into Tentacruel and Numel evolves into Camerupt. Tentacool is water/poison, like its evolved form Tentacruel, while Numel and Camerupt are fire/ground.
2. Grimer is to poison-type as Slugma is to which type?

Answer: Fire-type

Grimer is poison-type and Slugma is fire-type. Poison is only effective against grass-type Pokémon and is either normal or weak against everything else, which doesn't do too much good when it only has one truly good attack (Sludge Bomb). Fire, on the other hand is as good against as any types as it's weak against.
3. Electric-type is to water-type as dark-type is to which type?

Answer: Psychic-type

Electric-type attacks are good against water-type Pokémon and dark-type attacks are good against psychic Pokémon. Psychic Pokémon have only two weaknesses, bug-type and dark-type, and bug-type only has one good attack, somewhat like poison, which is Horn Attack, learned by a sole Pokémon, Heracross.
4. Huntail is to Gorbyss as Vileplume is to which Pokémon?

Answer: Bellossom

Huntail and Gorbyss both evolve from Clampearl and Bellossom and Vileplume both evolve from Gloom. To evolve a Gloom into a Vileplume, you need to use a Leaf Stone on it, and to get a Bellossom, you need to use a Sun Stone on a Gloom. To get a Huntail out of a Clampearl, you need to attach the Deepseatooth to it and trade it to a friend, and to get a Gorbyss, you need to trade it while it holds a Deepseascale. You can only get one of the Clampearl items, and that's by finding the Scanner aboard the Abandoned Ship and bringing it to Captain Stern, who will let you choose which item you want in exchange.
5. Aggron is to Aron as Flygon is to which Pokémon?

Answer: Trapinch

Trapinch evolves once into Vibrava and then again into Flygon. Aron evolves into Lairon, and finally into Aggron.
6. Minun is to Plusle as Illumise is to which Pokémon?

Answer: Volbeat

Minun and Plusle are mentioned in each other's Pokédex entry, informing that the two make a pair. Illumise and Volbeat are also recognized in each other's Pokédex entry, confirming that they are a recognized pair.
7. Azurill is to blue as Pikachu is to which colour?

Answer: Yellow

This time it was all about the main colour of your Pokémon, not the game colour. Azurill is for the most part blue, and Pikachu is mostly yellow.
8. Treecko is to Mudkip as Torchic is to which Pokémon?

Answer: Treecko

If you choose Mudkip, then your rival in "Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire" will choose Treecko. If you choose Treecko, your rival will choose Torchic (and if you haven't figured it out yet, if you choose Torchic, your rival will choose Mudkip). It's the classic fire beats grass, grass beats water, water beats fire system that's been used in every "Pokémon" game (except the "Special Pikachu version" also known as "Yellow version").
9. Farfetch'd is to a leek as Marowak is to which item?

Answer: Bone

Farfetche'd wields a leek or a sprig of green onions as a weapon, just as Marowak, and its devolved form, Cubone use a bone. Marowak even gets a few Marowak-only moves such as Bone Club, Bonemarang, and Bone Rush.
10. "Ruby/Sapphire version" is to Team Aqua and Team Magma as "Gold/Silver version" is to which group?

Answer: Team Rocket

In all "Pokémon" games there is a crime syndicate. In "Red/Blue" and "Gold/Silver" it was Team Rocket whose goals were profit and destruction. In "Ruby/Sapphire" the enemy teams had much more focused goals. Team Aqua wanted to flood the land to make more room for water Pokémon to live and a large water playground for the non-water Pokémon. Team Magma wanted to make more dry land so the land Pokémon could have more space like the water dwelling Pokémon.
