Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When you see a road sign with two arrows, one going up and one going down, what does it mean?

Answer: Two way traffic

An "added lane" sign has two arrows going the same way, but one is curved, and they are separated by a dotted line. A "lane ends" sign has two lines, one is curved a little, and has dotted lines to the right of it. The "reverse turn" sign has a curved arrow.
2. How old do you have to be to get your driver's license in California?

Answer: 16

You have to be at least 16 to get your license. You can get your permit when you're 15.
3. You must give right of way when you hear which of the following noises?

Answer: Any of these

You must allow the emergency vehicles to get through. This law applies to all US states, not just California.
4. Which one of these does NOT have the right of way on most roads?

Answer: They all do

You have to give all of them the right of way. Never assume other drivers will give you the right of way.
5. True or false? It is permissible to drive up to the normal speed limit while it is snowing.

Answer: False

If there is heavy traffic, or it is snowing, you have to reduce your speed. However, if you drive too slow until the point that you are blocking traffic, you will be given a ticket.
6. What is the normal speed limit in a California school zone, while kids are out playing?

Answer: 25 mph

Within 500 feet of a school, the speed limit is 25mph, unless there is another lower speed posted.
7. Which one of these should you NOT do when driving?

Answer: Wear a headset over both your ears

Wearing a headset is something you MUST NOT DO. If there were sirens, you wouldn't be able to hear them. The other three are things that you must do.
8. How old must you be to be in California's Mature Driver program?

Answer: 55

The Mature Driver program is an eight-hour course approved by the DMV. It covers a variety of topics of special interests.
9. Which one of these could cause you to lose your driver's license?

Answer: They all can

A judge may suspend a person's license if they do any of these. You might get away with a single speeding infraction or failure to stop, but repeat offences will be more severely penalised.
10. Which of the following circumstances is most likely to lead to a traffic accident?

Answer: One vehicle is traveling faster or slower than the flow of traffic

One vehicle is traveling faster or slower than the flow of traffic is the most accurate answer. The other two aren't necessarily dangerous.
