Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. If you're in London, then that means...

Answer: ...the underground train network is called the Underground

Another popular name for the London Underground, opened in 1863 and first electrified in 1890, is the Tube. Even though not all of it is strictly speaking "under the ground", it is still officially referred to by that name.

A subway in London, and in much of the English-speaking world, is a pedestrian underpass.

U-Bahn is a German term and Metro seems to be the most commonly used word throughout the world for this type of efficient mass transit system.
2. If you're in Paris, then that means...

Answer: ...you can visit the Louvre

All are lovely art museums, but only the Louvre is in Paris. The Prado is in Madrid, the Hermitage is in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art is on the other side of the Atlantic in New York.
3. If you're in Tallinn, then that means...

Answer: ...you're in Estonia

Tallinn is the capital of Estonia, located on the eastern shore of the Baltic Sea.
4. If you're in Tokyo, then that means....

Answer: ...a traditional lunch would be ramen

Ramen is a noodle soup dish: great taste and usually very good value, which makes it a popular lunch dish all over Japan. Tacos are more prevalent in Mexico, dim sum in China (or at least in Chinese restaurants) and rice and beans are a daily staple in many places including Cuba and Brazil.

All cities mentioned are, like Sydney, place in Australia. Melbourne is the only one south of Sydney, though.
6. If you're in Boston, then that means...

Answer: ...you can cross the Mystic River

"Mystic River" sound like a made-up name used for the book of the same title by Dennis Lehane (and the movie directed by Clint Eastwood), but it is a real river that more or less marks the northern border of the City of Boston, Massachusetts.

The River Liffey divides Dublin in half, the Hudson River flows west of Manhattan in New York and the Nile, as you surely know, runs through Egypt and its capital Cairo.
7. If you're in Chicago, then that means...

Answer: ...you're in Illinois

The states in the Midwest are tricky to tell apart for us non-Americans.
8. If you're in Bangkok, then that means...

Bangkok is in Thailand, and their national currency is the baht. Dong, renminbi and yen are better spent in Vietnam, China and Japan.
9. If you're in Zurich, then that means....

Answer: ...most people will be native speakers of German

Zurich is in the part of Switzerland where most people speak German. If you had been in Geneva, in the southern part of the country, French would have worked better. Italian is an official language in Switzerland, but only commonly used in a few areas. Immigrants aside, you will not find that many native speakers of Spanish in this country.
