Question 1 of 10
1. Dan Brown was born in 1963 and moved WAY to the head of the class at age 40 and he still has a front row seat. Of these professions/accomplishments, which one sped Brown to global acclaim? Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. Jason Jones, Marcus Lehto and Charlie Gough are what might be called 'very wealthy nerds' these days. They developed an awesomely popular cyber game logging 91 million man-hours playing it in its first 10 weeks of release (and that's just the online figure). What game is this? Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. 'Time' considered this actor/actress influential and it was a worthy choice. Not even 35 years of age yet, who was selected in 2005? *Not quite identified with being a 'sex symbol' or fictional superhero...so far* Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. Miuccia Prada made the list. She's an interesting fashion designer who, in her mid 50s, runs a very prestigious company. A rather no-nonsense sort her basic theme seems to be to counter the notion that sex - and only sex - sells. In the 2001/2002 season she launched a new line with a far from glamorous motif. What was that 'look' she had a hit with? Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. One either loves Ann Coulter or bristles at the mention of her name. Some just think she's a smart mouthed kook. She's been fired from MSNBC and The National Review for her vitriolic remarks and observations. A staunch conservative, which of these remarks did she actually make? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. At first glance Jon Stewart, he who hosts "The Daily Show", LOOKS like a politician and he really could easily pass for a political analyst. His delivery is dry, factual and inclusive at first but then come the punch lines. No holds barred and off he goes poking intelligent jabs at everything Washington. It's hysterical! He's made a few movies, too. Which of the following is one of them? Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. Singer Juanes, born in Colombia, will be a worldwide hit in no time flat if he isn't already in many circles. While there is a certain ethnicity to his work he presents a universal language with it. One of his award-winning tunes is called "A Dios Le Pido". What does that mean in English? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. Ziyi Zhang gives a definite first impression when met: she appears as fragile as a China Doll. Don't bet on it, though. From playing a steely willed Princess in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" (at the ripe old age of 20) to the renegade kung-fu heroine in "The House Of Flying Daggers" this young lady means business and it's time for her Hollywood spotlight. She won the plum role in "Memoirs Of A Geisha" [set for a December 2005 release]. Which non-Chinese director will she be working with? Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. Marc Cherry, born in 1962, popped up from next to nowhere and did so in a big way. This guy created and eats, sleeps and drinks his TV show 24/7 and it shows. Seeing as there are so many things going on at once in the series it's good Mr. Cherry is so attentive. What show are we talking about - arguably one of the biggest hits to land for a while? Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. Can someone actually be 'born' to play a film role? Sometimes it looks that way and that was the case in 2004. The late singer and pianist Ray Charles seemed to spring back to life, thanks to this actor who played him so ably. Who was he?

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Dan Brown was born in 1963 and moved WAY to the head of the class at age 40 and he still has a front row seat. Of these professions/accomplishments, which one sped Brown to global acclaim?

Answer: He's an author whose book is in 44 languages, has sold over 25 million copies and made into a blockbuster film.

"The Da Vinci Code" was Dan Brown's fourth novel, an historical thriller that was a phenomenon from the start. Did the Vatican, centuries ago, conspire to conceal the marriage and family that Jesus built with Mary Magdalene? The pleasure comes in the wondering. Brown also, in a world of wizards and high tech, sparked a renewed global interest in Gnostic texts, early Christian history and (of course) the fascinating Da Vinci.
2. Jason Jones, Marcus Lehto and Charlie Gough are what might be called 'very wealthy nerds' these days. They developed an awesomely popular cyber game logging 91 million man-hours playing it in its first 10 weeks of release (and that's just the online figure). What game is this?

Answer: Halo

'Time' magazine says that to indulge in "Halo" is to take part in what feels like a sci-fi Wagnerian opera, a ballet of bullets, lasers and orchestral music. Consider this: the amount of time this game has been played amounts to 10,000 years in the virtual world. People seem to love an adventure where a plague lurks around every corner hoping to turn them into a zombie.
3. 'Time' considered this actor/actress influential and it was a worthy choice. Not even 35 years of age yet, who was selected in 2005? *Not quite identified with being a 'sex symbol' or fictional superhero...so far*

Answer: Hilary Swank

Nominated for Best Lead Actress twice (for "Boys Don't Cry" [1999] and "Million Dollar Baby" [2004]) Swank won both times. She's been knocking around Hollywood since she was a teenager - making a decent living, too, early on - but her stairway to the heights came with playing a girl-pretending-to-be-a-boy and then a boxer. Hilary doesn't study her roles as much as she just becomes them (for "Baby" her workout regimen and diet were daunting, for example).

Her husband is TV actor and producer Chad Lowe.

Answer: The 'Frumpy 50s Housewife' look

THAT idea sure got the rest noticing and soon after all the fancy runways were being paraded by frumps! Prada is considered a Communist, iconoclast and an intellectual, not your typical fashion tycoon. When young she took over her Grandfather's dusty luggage company and turned it into a 2 billion dollar conglomerate. A very interesting woman.
5. One either loves Ann Coulter or bristles at the mention of her name. Some just think she's a smart mouthed kook. She's been fired from MSNBC and The National Review for her vitriolic remarks and observations. A staunch conservative, which of these remarks did she actually make?

Answer: "Bill Clinton is a horny hick and his wife is pond scum."

I must admit that I don't like Coulter or her "style" of journalism. She is opinionated, ferocious and and generally abrasive. However, she has a large fan base AND she is a tall, slender, attractive young woman (which seems to help on TV). Her books are a little less caustic and her points come across better in them. Like her or not she is smart, influential for sure and always difficult not to notice.

Answer: Both are right!

Those two titles seem to fit him since many think he's a half-baked clown or a mixed up nut. Some followed the whole 2004 election via the eyes of the crafty Stewart (the news was accurate and the jokes just smoothed it out) and his cracker jack fleet of writers deserve much credit for the awards the show wins. According to Tom Brokaw Jon is "a voice for democratic ideals and the noble place of citizenship, helped along by the sound of laughter." Case closed!
7. Singer Juanes, born in Colombia, will be a worldwide hit in no time flat if he isn't already in many circles. While there is a certain ethnicity to his work he presents a universal language with it. One of his award-winning tunes is called "A Dios Le Pido". What does that mean in English?

Answer: I Ask God

Born in 1972 young Juanes usually sings in Spanish but the music has the dynamic rhythms of rock blended with Latin beats and the sounds of Columbian folklore. He can slide from love ballads to politically charged protest songs like a skater on velvet ice. His birth name is Juan Esteban Aristizabal and he started the guitar at age 10 and has won 5 Grammy Awards so far.

Answer: Rob Marshall

Marshall, who directed the winning "Chicago" in 2001, is heading up this project with Spielberg producing. The cast is almost entirely Japanese (Zhang isn't) but with American backing and promotion it will likely be a blockbuster. Unfortunately her success in America could have limits because of her obvious racial identity but we can only hope she does well. Either way, I'm sure she could return to Asia and be kept busy for decades.

Answer: Desperate Housewives

Even if you haven't seen the show almost everyone has heard of "Desperate Housewives" and Wysteria Lane by now. What a group of neighbors! The flighty divorcee, the stressed out wife/mother, the modern day Stepford wife, the cheating (with the high school aged landscaper, no less) wife, the wife who shot herself in the head and, of course, the local floozy. Throw in a little kinky sex, murder, mysterious men and you've got a most fascinating hour of television which has you laughing one minute and gasping the next.
10. Can someone actually be 'born' to play a film role? Sometimes it looks that way and that was the case in 2004. The late singer and pianist Ray Charles seemed to spring back to life, thanks to this actor who played him so ably. Who was he?

Answer: Jamie Foxx

Foxx got his start on TV with "In Living Color" (which turned out to be a breeding ground for talent as in Jim Carrey, the Wayans and even Paula Abdul) but Jamie Foxx really stole the whole 2004 movie season. Born in 1968 as Eric Bishop he bested not only veteran Clint Eastwood but also Leo DiCaprio at the 2005 Oscars for Best Actor. Jamie has assured a further place in posterity for the legendary Mr. Charles and himself.
