Arnold was "specially" elected as the state's governor to finish out the term of office for Gray Davis. He then was elected to a second term after this, for which he was sworn in on January 5th 2007.

Arnold was representing the Republican party when he took the role as governor, however, I couldn't resist a nod to one of his first films in this. In the 2004 Republican National Convention, he attributed his choice to become Republican to a speech given by Nixon.

Danny tries to convince Jack that they are in a movie, by repeating catch phrases of the character as he says them.
