Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. New York

Answer: Emilio Estevez

Born in the Bronx in 1962, Emilio Estevez is the eldest of four siblings and the only member of this Brat Pack selection with a celebrity parent. His parents are Ramón Gerard Antonio Estévez and Janet Elizabeth Templeton, better known by their professional names of Martin and Janet Sheen.

His siblings have all had the acting bug, although his sister Renée Pilar Estévez retired from acting in 2015. Of his brothers, Ramón Luis Estévez is now more of a director whilst Charlie Sheen has continued to act.
2. Paula Abdul

Answer: Emilio Estevez

This item is about connections (girlfriends, fiancés, wives or exes). In Emilio's case, he has dated Mimi Rogers, had an off-and-on relationship with Carey Salley (resulting in two children), had a high-profile engagement with fellow Brat Packer Demi Moore, and married (and then divorced) singer Paula Abdul.

The divorce is said to have been because Emilio did not wish to have any more children.
3. "The Mighty Ducks"

Answer: Emilio Estevez

Acting is what Emilio Estevez is best known for with roles like coach Gordon Bombay in "The Mighty Ducks" film series (1992-1996), a role he reprised in the TV series "The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers" (2021-2022). As well as acting, Estevez has also done some directing.

His first feature film was "Wisdom" (1986), making him the youngest actor to write, direct, and star in a major film. The film, however, was not well received by critics. More recently, he has directed episodes of various TV series such as "The Guardian", "Cold Case" and "Numb3rs".
4. Massachusetts

Answer: Anthony Michael Hall

Anthony Michael Hall was born in 1968 in the West Roxbury neighbourhood of Boston, Massachusetts. His mother is the blues-jazz singer Mercedes Hall. She divorced his father Larry when Hall was six months old. He also has a half-sister, the singer Mary Chestaro (known as Mary C), from his mother's second marriage.

When Hall started acting, he switched his first two names around as there was already a Michael Hall in the Screen Actors Guild.
5. Lucia Oskerova

Answer: Anthony Michael Hall

Hall married relatively late in life in 2020 to the Slovak-Canadian actress Lucia Oskerova with a son born to them in 2023. Other relationships Hall has had in the past include fellow Brat Packer Molly Ringwald, twelve years with Teresa De Saint, and a five year relationship with Sandra Guerard.
6. "The Dead Zone"

Answer: Anthony Michael Hall

Hall's career developed towards character acting, with Hall having a leading role in the Stephen King inspired TV series "The Dead Zone" (2002-2007). He has continued to act both in film, such as "The Dark Knight" (2008) and "Halloween Kills" (2021), and television series like "Reacher" (2025).
7. New Jersey

Answer: Andrew McCarthy

Andrew McCarthy was born in Summit, New Jersey, in 1962, and grew up in Westfield, New Jersey, the third of four boys. His first role was at prep school as the Artful Dodger in "Oliver!". Thrown out of an acting course at New York University, his first professional acting followed shortly thereafter with the 1983 "Class".

This is considered by some as one of the Brat Pack films as a second Brat Packer, Rob Lowe, also starred.
8. Dolores Rice

Answer: Andrew McCarthy

McCarthy's first wife was actress Carol Schneider, with whom he had a son named Sam. He married his second wife, Dolores Rice, in 2011, and together they have two children, Willow and Rowan. Willow has also done some acting, writing, and directing, which to some extent mirrors McCarthy's career.
9. "The Blacklist"

Answer: Andrew McCarthy

As well as acting in films, McCarthy has also had extensive TV appearances including 22 episodes in TV crime drama "The Blacklist" between 2015 and 2022. His wife, Dolores Rice, has also appeared in this series. McCarthy has also made a name for himself as an award-winning travel writer for the "National Geographic" magazine. He has published a young adult fiction novel and memoirs, including "Brat: An '80s Story" (2021).
10. Maine

Answer: Judd Nelson

Judd Asher Nelson was born in 1959 in Portland, Maine to a corporate lawyer and a court mediator. He has two sisters, Eve and Julie. He was attracted to the performance arts in his early teens and worked his way up to spending time at the Stella Adler Conservatory (now the Stella Adler Studio of Acting) in New York City to hone his skills. From there he had a couple of film before his "The Breakfast Club" and "St. Elmo's Fire" appearances.
11. Shannen Doherty

Answer: Judd Nelson

Judd Nelson has kept his family life private, seemingly maintaining a focus on his career. He is known to have had brief relationships with Shannen Doherty in the late 1980s and other actresses, such as Sheila Kennedy and Jennifer Tilly. He appears to be a confirmed bachelor.
12. "Suddenly Susan"

Answer: Judd Nelson

More films, such as "Blue City" (1986) and "Relentless" (1989) followed the two main Brat Pack films. The TV miniseries "Billionaire Boys Club" (1987) won him a Golden Globe award, however it was the lead role as Jack Richmond in the TV sitcom "Suddenly Susan" (1996-1999) which gave his career a boost.

He also appeared in the 2018 remake of "Billionaire Boys Club", this time as father to the character Joe Hunt he played in 1987.
13. Virginia

Answer: Rob Lowe

Born in 1964 in Charlottesville, Virginia, Rob Lowe is the final Brat Pack member in this selection. He has a younger brother as well as two half-brothers from his parents' second marriages. As a baby he had mumps, which left him deaf in one ear. He grew up in Dayton, Ohio, before moving to Malibu, California, with his mother and younger brother.

His breakthrough role was at the age of 12 as Sodapop Curtis in "The Outsiders" (1983).
14. Sheryl Berkoff

Answer: Rob Lowe

Married since 1991 to former makeup artist Sheryl Berkoff, the couple first met on a blind date. They have two sons. Lowe has not been without relationship controversy with a sex tape emerging in 1988, possibly as a result of his political campaigning at the time.

Its release came on the eve of the 1988 Democratic National Conference. It did not help his acting career, either. Heavy drinking during his teens was one consequence of his early fame. He took the decision in 1990 to become sober and participation in an alcohol rehabilitation programme helped.
15. "The West Wing"

Answer: Rob Lowe

Lowe's love of politics perhaps contributed to his taking the role of Sam Seaborn in the TV series "The West Wing" (1999-2003, 2006). It led to a Primetime Emmy Award nomination and two Golden Globe nominations. Other significant TV roles include as Robert McCallister in "Brothers & Sisters" (2006-2010) and Chris Traeger in "Parks and Recreation" (2010-2015, 2020). His award nominations have mostly been for TV series, although he did get a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Supporting Actor for his performance in "St. Elmo's Fire" (1985).
