Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:

Alfred Hitchcock was born on 13 August 1899 in Leytonstone, Essex, England. Hitchcock died on 29 April 1980. Hitchcock was a film director and producer. Some of his most famous films were "Psycho" (1960), "Vertigo" (1958), and "The Birds" (1963).

Peter Sellers was born as Richard Henry Sellers. He was born on 8 September 1925, in Southsea, Portsmouth, England, and died on 24 July 1980. Peter Sellers was one of the Goons, along with Spike Milligan, Harry Secombe, and Michael Bentine (1951-1952). He is also known as Inspector Jacques Clouseau in the "Pink Panther" series.

Mel Blanc was born on May 30, 1908, in San Francisco, California, U.S., and died on July 10, 1989. He was known as a voice actor and radio personality. People often referred to Mel as "The Man of a Thousand Voices". He did so many character voices, including Bugs Bunny, Tweety, Sylvester the Cat, Yosemite Sam, Porky Pig, Elmer Fudd, and Barney Rubble.

Richard Burton was born as Richard Walter Jenkins Jr. He was born on 10 November 1925, in Pontrhydyfen, Glamorgan, Wales, and died on 5 August 1984. Burton was regarded as one of the world's best Shakespearean actors. He is also known for his marriage to Elizabeth Taylor. As an actor, Richard starred in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" (1965), "Cleopatra" (1963), and "The Spy Who Came in from the Cold" (1965).

Grace Kelly was born on November 12, 1929, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S., and died on September 14, 1982. Grace was an actress but was known as the wife of Prince Rainier III. They were married on April 18, 1956. Grace Kelly starred in "The Country Girl" (1954), "To Catch a Thief" (1955), and "Dial M for Murder" (1954). The last film Grace appeared in was the 1956 film "High Society". While Grace was driving, she had a bleed on the brain and crashed her car. Sadly, while she was in the hospital, she had another hemorrhage and was declared brain-dead. Her husband, Prince Rainier, was told she had no chance to recover, so he asked for the life support to be turned off.

Dian Fossey was born on January 16, 1932, in San Francisco, California, U.S., and was murdered in December 1985. From 1966, Fossey studied mountain gorillas in Rwanda. In 1983 Fossey had her book, "Gorillas in the Mist", published. It was her historical account of what she had learned about the gorillas from 1966 up until her murder. Wayne Richard McGuire had gone back to America before the trial had started but was convicted in absentia for her murder. McGuire never returned to Rwanda; if he had, he would have been shot. In 1985 there was no extradition treaty that existed between the U.S. and Rwanda.

Yul Brynner was born as Yuliy Borisovich Briner. Yul was born on July 11, 1920, in Vladivostok, Russia, and died on October 10, 1985. In 1951 Yul won two Tony Awards for his part in the stage musical "The King and I". In 1956 the stage musical was adapted to a film in which he received an Academy Award for Best Actor. Yul also starred in two very well-known cowboy films, "The Magnificent Seven" (1960) and its first sequel, "Return of the Seven" (1966). In 1973, he starred in the science fiction Western film "Westworld", where he played the part of a cowboy who was an android that went out of control and started killing humans. Yul Brynner died of lung cancer at age 65.

James Cagney was born on July 17, 1899, in New York City, U.S., and died on March 30, 1986, of a heart attack. I think it's fair to say Cagney will be remembered for his roles in films as a gangster and tough guy in films like "The Public Enemy" (1931), "Taxi!" (1932), and "Angels with Dirty Faces" (1938). Because of the success of these types of films, he was stuck in a rut of being typecast. Over the years, however, he starred in other types of films, including "The West Point Story", which was a 1950 musical comedy film and "Shake Hands with the Devil", which was a 1959 film about the Irish War of Independence. Who can remember his line, "You dirty rat!"? It was from the 1932 film "Taxi".

Andy Warhol was born as Andrew Warhola Jr. on August 6, 1928, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, U.S., and died on February 22, 1987. Warhol was an American film director, producer, and visual artist. Warhol was the artist who was responsible for the artwork "Campbell's Soup Cans." Basically, it was 32 canvases of tins of soup from the company Campbell's. The 32 canvases depict the different varieties that were on offer at that time. The artwork was shown for the first time to the public on July 9, 1962. Other work by Warhol included a silkscreen painting, depicting Marilyn Monroe, titled "The Marilyn Diptych," and a painting called "Orange Prince." In total, there were 12 paintings in the Prince Series. Prince was an American singer-songwriter, musician, and actor. Warhol died from cardiac arrhythmia. Warhol had been in the hospital with problems with his gallbladder and later had surgery on February 21, 1987. His private nurse contacted the hospital's cardiac arrest team an hour after she realised he was unresponsive and turning blue. At 6:31 am, Warhol was pronounced dead.

Roy Orbison was born on April 23, 1936, in Vernon, Texas, U.S. He died on December 6, 1988, from a heart attack. Roy was an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He was known for dressing in all black and for wearing dark glasses; it became his trademark. He also dyed his hair black too. You only have to hear a song sung by Roy to know who it was. He had a very distinctive voice and a very powerful one too. One of the first hit songs for Roy was a 1960s song, "Only the Lonely (Know the Way I Feel)," which reached number two on the "U.S. Billboard" chart. "Running Scared", "Crying", and "Dream Baby (How Long Must I Dream)" all finished in the top five in 1961. Album-wise, the best album in my opinion was the 1989 album "Mystery Girl". The album reached number two on the UK Albums Chart and peaked at number five on the US Billboard 200. The English-American group the Traveling Wilburys also included Roy Orbison in the line-up. Other members of the group were George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Bob Dylan, and Tom Petty. The group was active from 1988 until 1991.
