Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Corey Haim made his feature film debut in 1984. In what film did he star?

Answer: "Firstborn"

In this film, Corey Haim played the role of Brian Livingston. Brian is the younger brother of Jake Livingston, the main character of the entire film. In it, the two siblings experience their mother's inner turmoil with complicated romances and the presence of a physically abusive stepfather.

Corey's character, Brian, ends up being a catalyst towards encouraging the pair to run away from home after they end up in a surprise confrontation from the mafia over their parents' involvement in a drug trade.
2. Where was Corey Haim born?

Answer: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Corey Haim was born in Toronto, but grew up in Chomeday in Laval, Quebec. He eventually moved to Willowdale and Thornhill, Ontario. He had one older sister and a younger half-brother. His parents divorced when he was eleven years old.

While growing up, Haim took drama classes. In addition, he was such a good hockey player that he was scouted for the AA Thunderbirds.
3. At the recommendation of producer Stanley Jaffe, Corey Haim moved to a new location to help support his career, which was on the rise in 1985. To where did Corey Haim move in 1985?

Answer: Los Angeles, USA

The specific reason which prompted Haim to move was the opportunity to star in the series "Roomies". Unfortunately, "Roomies" only produced eight episodes, spanning over less than two months, so the role was not the long term success Haim may have been looking for. Even still, Haim would go on to spend the rest of his life in Los Angeles, so he at least found a permanent home there.
4. Corey Haim was part of an iconic duet known as the Two Coreys. Who would the second Corey be in this scenario, who appeared with Haim in seven different films?

Answer: Corey Feldman

The incorrect options are all Coreys who played professional sports- Dillon/NFL, Seager/MLB and Brewer/NBA.

Coreys Haim and Feldman appeared together, in order, in "The Lost Boys", "License to Drive", "Dream a Little Dream", "Blown Away", "National Lampoon's Last Resort", "Dream a Little Dream 2" and "Busted" as far as films go. They would go on to make cameo appearances very briefly together in TV series such as "The Big Wolf On Campus" and the iconic "Robot Chicken."

In 2007, the pair debuted their own TV series aptly titled "The Two Coreys", which ran until 2008. Feldman also did direct a small series of direct-to-video films in which Haim; however, Feldman was eventually forced to fire Haim after Haim's drug addiction became too problematic.

Feldman has publicly stated that he considered Haim to be one of his best friends. That said, Feldman did not actually attend Haim's funeral, though he has stated this was because financial difficulties prevented him from getting a plane ticket to attend.
5. Notable actor Charlie Sheen was set to receive the lead role in a movie that Corey Haim was actually chosen to be the lead instead. In what film did this occur?

Answer: "Lucas"

Interestingly, Sheen was passed over in favor of Haim due to age.

Among those with whom he starred, Haim developed a romantic interest in Kerri Green as he performed in this film. Green incidentally played as Lucas' love interest in the film, which is said to have had tangibly positive impact on Haim's performance.

"Lucas" is a coming-of-age romance film. The importance of it here is that Corey played the part of Lucas and Kerri Green played the part of Maggie, a character who was Lucas' love interest throughout the story. A lot of the story involves Lucas' efforts to eventually win Maggie over.
6. In April of 1989, Corey Haim underwent a professional, on-stage experience he said made him "terrified, will never go on any stage ever again." What was Corey Haim's purpose for being at the Knott's Berry Farm?

Answer: He was part of an anti-drug campaign

In tandem with DJ "Hollywood" Hamilton, Corey Haim aimed to speak at the event and deter the usage of harmful illegal drugs. Haim was instead treated to an audience past the capacity of the venue, with the majority of the audience said to be young women who were avid fans of Haim.

There was an influx of stage-rushing from the crowd, to the point where Haim was escorted off the property by fire marshals in fear of his safety.
7. Immediately following rehabilitation in 1989, Corey Haim released a self-promo video which showed a day of his life. What was it called?

Answer: "Corey Haim: Me, Myself and I"

The intent of this video was to qualm negative publicity surrounding Haim and his usage of drugs. It was supposed to show Haim in a positive, clean light, showcasing his willingness to be and stay clean. It had, however, the opposite effect, as Haim was very likely under the influence whilst the camera was rolling.

This video was labelled as "the worst ever" by the then-pop culture blog "X-Entertainment".
8. On February 8, 1993, Corey was arrested for pulling out a replica of a handgun in a dispute. Who was involved in the dispute?

Answer: Business Manager

The confrontation, according to business manager Michael Bass, had stemmed from Haim trying to fire Bass, who was refusing to go. Haim's charge was eventually downgraded from a felony to a misdemeanor of exhibiting a replica gun in a threatening manner, as Haim had used a BB gun.
9. In 1994, Corey Haim went to Germany to make major professional strides in his career. He was set to sign on with the major recording company Edel to record an album. Was Haim able to successfully have an album released?

Answer: No

Some time after Haim arrived in Mannheim, Germany, the entire deal with Edel fell through, and he was unfortunately never able to release an album. While the entire album did fall through, Haim's work was at least somewhat realized later, as a single recorded there entitled "You Give Me Everything" would go on to be released as a 4-track single in 1995.

It was produced by Daniel Schubert and Daniel Gonschorek.
10. On May 4th, 2010, the LA County Coroner's Office announced Corey Haim's official cause of death. Which of the following was one of the immediate causes of his death?

Answer: Pneumonia

Officially, Haim passed away from a combination of diffuse alveolar damage, pneumonia, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and coronary arteriosclerosis. In other words, he had pneumonia that was made worse by an enlarged heart, damaged lungs, and narrowed blood vessels.

Corey Haim did battle substance abuse throughout his life, but toxicology examinations notably did not find a "significant contributing factor" of any drugs that led to Haim's untimely demise. His use of drugs, however, certainly were a factor in the health struggles he encountered.
