Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What type of fighter jet did Starscream transform into during the "Generation 1 (G1)" era of "The Transformers"?

Answer: F-15 Eagle

Starscream was among the earliest action figures to be released by Hasbro for "The Transformers" franchise in 1984. He was one of three original Decepticons who each transformed into a fighter jet, specifically the F-15 Eagle. All three toys were exactly the same in vehicle and robot design, however each one sported a different color scheme. Starscream was painted with a red, blue and grey livery. Thundercracker and Skywarp (the two other original figures) were painted blue/white and black/purple/white respectively.

These three action figures (and later ones that featured the same design) would be retroactively be referred to as "Seekers", which was a term for them developed by fans of the series. The classic design for Starscream and his brothers have been revisited and reissued numerous times across the history of "The Transformers" franchise.
2. Chris Latta, the original voice actor for Starscream, lent his voice to another iconic villain from the 1980s. Which one?

Answer: Cobra Commander ("G.I. Joe")

Christopher Collins, aka Chris Latta (1949-1994), was the voice actor who played the role of Starscream and several other characters during "The Transformers" animated series (1984-1986), as well as during "The Transformers: The Movie" (1986).

Chris Latta was also the actor who provided the iconic voice of Cobra Commander during the "G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero" animated series (1983-1986 / 1989-1992). Chris Latta used a similar raspy voice for both characters, though Cobra Commander's voice had a more snake-like lisp to it. Sadly, Chris Latta would pass away in 1994 at only 44 years of age due to a cerebral hemorrhage.
3. What was the name of the device that allowed Starscream to wipe out dozens of characters in the original Marvel Comics continuity of "The Transformers"?

Answer: Underbase

Bob Budiansky, a writer for Marvel Comics, was hired by Hasbro to provide names and characterizations to "The Transformers" toy line. In addition, Marvel assisted with the production of the original animated series and also ran a 70-issue comic book series in the United States (1984-1990) in order to help push sales of the toys.

In 1988, during a four-issue story arc of the comic book series, Starscream unleashed a plan to gain control of an ancient Cybertronian device known as the Underbase. The Underbase contained nearly limitless energy, which gave Starscream the power to destroy more than 50 characters (including some of the mightiest) with just a single blow. The storyline was written in order to kill off characters whose toys had been discontinued by Hasbro, so that newer ones could be given the spotlight.
4. During the "Beast Wars" animated series, which character was possessed by the ghost of Starscream?

Answer: Waspinator

The "Beast Wars" animated series (1996-1999) was set in the same continuity as the "Generation 1" animated series. In the original G1 cartoon, Starscream had been destroyed by Galvatron which caused his ghost (spark) to drift across space and time. During the season 1 episode of "Beast Wars" entitled "Possession", Starscream's ghost made its way to prehistoric Earth, where he possessed the Predacon Waspinator.

Starscream attempted to con his way into taking over the Predacons, but his actions were thwarted by the Maximals as well as the Predacon Blackarachnia, who feigned a partnership with him. Waspinator's body ended up getting blown apart in an explosion and Starscream's ghost was expelled back into space.
5. What was the name of the girl who developed a friendship with Starscream in the "Transformers: Armada" animated series?

Answer: Alexis

Starscream was normally portrayed as a sneaky individual who betrayed everyone he knew in order to gain a position of power. In the "Transformers: Armada" animated series (2002-2003), the character was taken in slightly different direction. Starscream was constantly attempting to prove himself to Decepticon leader Megatron, but was often chastised and abused despite his best efforts. Starscream eventually got fed up with Megatron and deserted the Decepticons. He later joined up with the Autobots to get revenge on his former master.

During his time with the Autobots, a teenage girl named Alexis developed a strong feelings for Starscream. Starscream reciprocated by secretly bringing her back a rock he collected from Mars. Starscream eventually betrayed the Autobots and rejoined the Decepticons. Alexis would later end up heartbroken after Starscream sacrificed himself while attempting to forge an alliance between the Autobots and Decepticons to defend against Unicron.
6. The Supreme Class toy of Starscream released for "Transformers: Cybertron" came with what unique accessory?

Answer: Gold crown

Starscream's gold crown made its first appearance in "The Transformers: The Movie" (1986). In the film, Starscream became the leader of the Decepticons after tossing the injured Megatron out into space following his iconic fight with Optimus Prime. At Starscream's coronation ceremony, a gold crown with red rubies was placed on his head. Seconds later, Starscream would get blown to dust by Galvatron (the reformatted Megatron), who then crushed the crown under his foot.

Starscream's crown would later be seen in the "Transformers: Cybertron" series (2005-2006) during which Starscream managed to briefly take control of the Decepticons. The Supreme Class version of Starscream's action figure would include the gold crown as an accessory. Starscream's gold crown was featured again in IDW's "The Transformers: Robots in Disguise" comic book series (2012-2016) during which Starscream was elected ruler of Cybertron.
7. In "Transformers: Animated", Starscream created numerous clones of himself in various colors and mannerisms. Which of the clones was female?

Answer: Slipstream (purple/teal)

In "Transformers: Animated" (2007-2009), Starscream ended up getting a fragment of the Allspark (the source of Transformers life) embedded in his head which made him immortal. Starscream eventually decided to use pieces of the Allspark fragment to create numerous clones of himself who would serve as his personal army.

Each clone sported a different color scheme (like the original G1 Seekers) and each one was programmed with a specific trait of Starscream's personality. Ramjet was a pathological liar, Skywarp was a coward and Sunstorm was a bootlicker. Slipstream was a female clone of Starscream. When Starscream asked her what part of his personality she came from, Slipstream simply responded "Don't ask!"
8. Who killed Starscream in the live action film "Transformers: Dark of The Moon" (2011)?

Answer: Sam Witwicky

The Starscream featured in Michael Bay's series of "Transformers" movies transformed into a grey F-22 Raptor and had a hulking gorilla-like robot mode. In the first "Transformers" film (2007), Starscream was in charge of the Decepticons who came to Earth in order to bring their leader Megatron back online after he had crash landed there more than a century earlier. Starscream was one of only two Decepticons to survive the battle at the end of the first film.

Starscream returned in the sequel "Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen" (2009) where he assisted in the Decepticons' plot to drain all the energy from the the Sun. Starscream would eventually be killed off in the third film "Transformers: Dark of The Moon". The Autobots' human ally Sam Witwicky (Shia LeBeouf) jammed one of Que's (Wheeljack's) bombs into one of Starscream's eyes, which blew him to bits.
9. Which Autobot was murdered by Starscream in the pilot episode of "Transformers: Prime"?

Answer: Cliffjumper

During the opening scene of "Darkness Rising", the pilot episode of "Transformers: Prime" animated series (2010-2013), the Autobot named Cliffjumper (voiced by Dwayne Johnson) was on a reconnaissance mission when he discovered an energon deposit being guarded by Decepticon drones (Vehicons). Cliffjumper ended up getting captured and he was brought onto the Decepticon warship named the Nemesis, which was under the command of Starscream.

The Starscream of "Transformers: Prime" was redesigned to transform into an F-16 Falcon fighter jet and had a much skinnier and sleeker body design than usual. Starscream attempted to interrogate Cliffjumper, but ended up impaling him in the chest with his razor sharp fingertips. To add insult to injury Starscream offered Cliffjumper's corpse to Megatron in order to test out a substance named Dark Energon, which zombified the Autobot's remains.
10. Can you give me the name of a "Transformers" video game where Starscream appears in two boss battles?

Answer: Devastation

"Transformers: Devastation" is a hack and slash style video game that was published by Activision in 2015 for PS3, PS4, X-Box 360, X-Box One and PC. The game was heavily influenced by the original 1980's "Transformers" animated series, with characters drawn to match how they appeared in the show. Even some of the original "Transformers" voice actors were brought in to voice their respective characters in the video game.

During the game's main campaign, the Autobots are required to battle Starscream in two of the game's major boss fights. He is first encountered during the game's third chapter titled "The Core" where he guards a suspension bridge. The second encounter with Starscream takes place in the fifth chapter of the game titled "To Cybertron", where you must defeat him while traveling along the space bridge.
