Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. David Coverdale said "Here I Go Again" to form this instead.

Answer: Whitesnake

UK band Whitesnake, founded in London in 1978, was created when Deep Purple went on hiatus and singer David Coverdale took on the new project. It would become a well-established band in its own right, finding modestly successful hits on the chart in the mid-1980s with tracks like "Here I Go Again" and "Is This Love".

Despite a hiatus in the 1990s, they resumed releasing albums in the 2000s, persisting as one of the higher-regarded hard rock groups of all time.
2. Per Billy Idol, it's a nice day to start again.

Answer: White Wedding

"It's a nice day for a white wedding
It's a nice day to start again."

Found on Billy Idol's debut solo album, "White Wedding" became not only one of his signature tunes, but one of the defining tracks of the early 1980s. The song is, definitively, about a wedding, but the title is a bit of an ironic turn since the lyrics beget a forced marriage brought on by the singer's little sister being pregnant out of wedlock.
3. This is a Chicago chef and the eldest Gallagher son.

Answer: Jeremy Allen White

Though Jeremy Allen White spent ten years as 'Lip' on the U.S. remake of "Shameless", he took the spotlight on the highly-regarded FX/Hulu series "The Bear" in 2022, winning his first Golden Globe and Emmy Awards for his role as Carmy Berzatto, a New York City chef who returns to Chicago to run a restaurant inherited from his brother. White also had a key role in the 2023 film "The Iron Claw", acting alongside Zac Efron as famous wrestler Kerry Von Erich.
4. It's a Don DeLillo book or a Michael Keaton film.

Answer: White Noise

DeLillo's breakout novel "White Noise" was his eighth published release. Known for being a landmark postmodern text examining multiple facets of late-twentieth century philosophy, it paved the way for the successes of a number of DeLillo's later works (like "Cosmopolis").

Michael Keaton's 2005 film, also called "White Noise", has nothing to do with DeLillo's novel (which got its own adaptation in 2022). Instead it pertains to Keaton's character finding malevolent spirits through the use of EVP (electronic voice phenomena).
5. A recipient of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1995.

Answer: Betty White

Born in 1922, Betty White would go on to hold the record for the longest career for a female entertainer in the TV and movie industry, continuing to act until a few months shy of her hundredth birthday (she passed on New Years Eve 2021). White started a successful career in the late 1940s, quickly getting her own TV show and appearing as a regular in classic game shows of the day.

She had a career resurgence with "The Golden Girls" in the 1980s and continued working well beyond its success.
6. They couldn't get enough of your love, babe.

Answer: Barry White

A soulful singer and Grammy recipient, Barry White is best known for his deep bass vocals, especially on chart-topping tracks like "Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Babe". White had twenty albums released over the course of his lengthy career with his most famous hitting the airwaves in the 1970s and 1980s.

He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2013, four years after his passing.
7. It's a telling spot for a getaway in Maui... or Sicily.

Answer: The White Lotus

Created by Mike White, "The White Lotus" first released on HBO in 2021 and received almost immediate critical renown for its multi-layered examinations of its problematic characters; almost everyone headed to or working at a White Lotus resort came with some kind of baggage.

The first season, set on the island of Maui, set the tone; the second, filmed in Sicily, continued the anthology with new overarching themes. In any case, the show has been showered with awards.
8. A seven nation army couldn't hold them back.

Answer: Jack White

One half of The White Stripes along with his then-wife Meg, Jack White quickly rose through the ranks to be regarded as one of the most influential rock musicians of the 2000s, eventually going solo when the duo stopped touring in 2011. Creator of Third Man Records, White also became a key figure in resurrecting and reissuing classic vinyl from his studios in Detroit and Nashville.

In addition to these projects, he was also a part of both the Raconteurs and the Dead Weather. Alongside Alicia Keys, he also released the opening theme for "Quantum of Solace", the 22nd James bond film.
9. This starts in the Soviet Union and ends with a "Good Night".

Answer: The White Album

One amongst many in The Beatles' long list of famous albums, "The White Album" was released in 1968 and has held up as one of the quartet's crowning achievements. Containing tracks like "Back in the U.S.S.R", "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", "Blackbird", and "Helter Skelter", the double album went multi-platinum internationally, topping the charts in the UK, the U.S., and beyond.

Although "The White Album" lacked the concept that the preceding "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" record did, it was no less influential.
10. It was part of the fifth Generation.

Answer: Pokemon White

Releasing on the Nintendo DS in 2010 alongside "Pokemon Black", "White" took the player to the Unova Region for a whole new adventure featuring new Pokemon and some old favourites. As always, the goal was to become a Pokemon Master, collecting badges and winning out in the end over the strongest in the land.

In an unexpected twist, Nintendo released direct sequels to both games ("Black 2" and "White 2") in 2012, following up on the story in a new way not seen before.
